Cant two males just have a close friendship without fangirls shipping them off as being gay? With that type of logic i guess the whole military, police officer, firefighters all must be gay as well.

You missed the whole point. Look at the list I made. They are all men! And they are just examples on yaoi couplings I have come across.
Also, it worries me how many are against the ideas of characters being gay. Are you really that frightened that some character you like turns out to actually have a different sexuality than being straight? Why do you guys try so hard to disprove Smoke or Subbie being gay? I'm not saying they are, I am saying that I like the idea of them being gay, or at least just Smoke. It's too bad there are still so much homophobia here.

It's not neccessarily that everyone's against it. Heck some people have even said maybe they are.

Heck Raiden and Liu Kang have an awfully tight relationship too. Maybe they are. What about Kabal and Stryker in this last game? Something might be going on there too.

Dude...if it's just about fanfiction, then is just like...a joke. The match-ups make no sense to begin with. Like, let's bust your list down just based on what they are, or what relationships they have between eachother in the actual games up til now::

- Liu Kang and Kung Lao - They're Shaolin Monks....MONKS!! Not to mention...hey, Kitana has always been a love interests for Liu Kang. They make that extremely obvious in MK9's story mode...I mean, we can literally watch them flirt. Liu Kang flirts with Kitana. I dunno lol

- Jax and Kano - They h-a-t-e eachother because one of them killed a member of the other ones faction. They're actively trying to KILL eachother. That should be enough of a deterrent... I think.

- Rain and Reiko - Maybe I'd entertain Rain being gay. But at the same time, there still is no basis...even though this is a video game, and I understand how silly the discussion is in the first place.

- Quan Chi and Shang Tsung - One of them is adamant about being life-destroying demon sorcerer. The possibility that he's doing anything to solicit pro-creation, kindsmanship, or any real likability is asinine.

- Sub-Zero and Noob - Ditto Quan Chi & Shang Tsung pretty much.

- Sub-Zero and Scorpion - Ditto Sub-Zero & Noob...pretty much.

- Ermac and Kenshi - One is a bag of souls. You'd be better challenging whether HE's a girl or boy. Or both...some kind of weird way. Who even says he has equipment? lol And anyway...each soul inside of the bag that is Ermac just wants to be out of the bag one way or another. Let's get what HE is clarified before bringing the whole "sexual preference" thing into the picture.

Fanfiction and fanart is how an author/artist wish to see the characters, creating a situation outside of the canon and putting them into a wishful-thinking situation. It is not meant to be taken seriously, it is not meant to be seen as "THIS IS HOW IT REALLY IS!", because it isn't. If you consider it a joke, then that's up to you. That doesn't change the fact that these things exists. There's no need to look down at it and make fun of it though, just because you don't like it.

I must inform you that these Yaoi fanfictions, much like the Yaoi fanfictions of Street Fighter and Dragon Ball Z, are meant to be unsual.

They're meant to counter the actual order of things, which is why there are such fanfictions as Scorpion/Sub-Zero, Gokou/Vegeta, and Ken/Ryu.

None of them are meant to be considered canon, for that would take away the art behind it.

Those fanfictions mean something to the authors who write them, and the readers who conceive them. I myself am not a fan of any form of Yaoi, but I do understand the seriousness of it.

The purpose of it being unusual is to show the beauty of finding love anywhere. Most people assume these fanfictions are nothing but perverted porn stories, but they're actually love stories, meant to inspire hope and optimism.

The issue here has really nothing to do with anyone's sexual orientation, but rather the validity of one's love for a certain genre of literature.

The only forms of literature than can be considered jokes or spoofs are comedic forms of literature. Yaoi is not a comedic form of literature.

From what I've been told from my friends who read Yaoi - all of whom are chicks, just sayin' - it's actually very dramatic, and sometimes depressing.
