I don't know, the front page of this thread hasn't been updated since the final match was announced.... what are we doing now, TEAMS?
Ahhh, but the front page does have the explanation and it's been there since the 3rd.
"As we continue to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Mortal Kombat, the tournament action will continue! Sub-Zero returns in a special sixteen team tournament inspired by some of the greatest team-ups the games have introduced! By popular request, the August 2-v-2 elimination bracket will be completely randomized and revealed as the First Round unfolds."

It was not a bad poll, however, it was setup in a wrong way, where multiple matches had very predictable outcome, which lead to the whole poll being quite predictable, save for the few surprises.
If I did this poll I'd divivded all characters into two groups - old one (32 chars from MK1-MKT) and a new one (32 chars from MK4-MK9) and made they battle each other separately. Then winners of the both groups would have fought for the champion title.

It may have been boring to you, but it wasn't to me. Why should less popular characters get any type of advantage in a POPULARITY contest? "Randomizing" might have changed one or two outcomes but in a popularity contest the more popular character typically moves on, unless people actively vote out of spite.

Are the teams posted somewhere or am I missing something? And is every character going to be placed in a team?
Also I already have one complaint about this poll, Why the hell is Kitana teamed with Sindel and not Jade? Kitana and Jade seemed like an obvious team to me.
We gonna team up Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot as well?lol

So are the tag teams somewhat random as well. Sub-Zero could be easily be paired with those who interacted with him throughout his story, ie: scorpion, noob saibot, smoke(I really hopes so), sareena etc.
I wished sindel was paired with Shao Kahn. This round is a handicap Kitana&Sindel vs. Kano Jarek(like Mavado and Hsu Hao) is deadweight.... I voted for Kan because I absolutely hate sindel (sorry kitana)

Kano & Jarek, Sindel & Kitana. These are supposed to be RANDOM tag teams!?
Random would be writing down the names and picking them out of a hat. I thought that the so called 'semi' randomization in the original contest was dodgy, but this is clearly rigged.
Random would be Shinnok & Jarek, or Darrius & Kitana, or Shujinko & Scorpion.

The tag teams aren't radomized, the matchups are. The teams represent classic affiliations.

That's what I thought. So why Sindel and Kitana? I get it mother and daughter, but are Jade and Kitana's team up not more iconic than Sindel and Kitana? I was under the assumption it was.

Wait, only 16 teams? So, not all MK characters will be included. Ugh, what a disappointment.
This would have been a perfect opportunity for the less known/popular characters to redeem themselves.

well, although they COULD do 32 teams and still have an even bracket (there are 64 characters, afterall) by that point, you'll be REALLY getting thin on putting teams together.
I'm going to ASSUME that it's going to be Sub and Scorp, though Smoke could team with Sub instead.... if it IS Sub and Scorp, it'll be Noob and Smoke
other teams I'm thinking will be in:
Liu and Kung (pretty obvious, really)
Sonya and Jax (again, pretty obvious)
Sektor and Cyrax (obvious)
Jade and Rain (There WAS something about them being in a relationship or something at one point, if I remember correctly)
Shinnok and Quan Chi... I would say SHANG and Quan, but...
Shang Tsung and Shao Khan... This actually makes more sense this way.

Rivals. She dislikes him probably almost as much as she dislikes Tanya. Jade and Rain (There WAS something about them being in a relationship or something at one point, if I remember correctly)
way.

Your assumption was right. Actually Sindel and Jade would actually be correct as well. That would have freed up Kitana and Mileena. Although Mileena and Baraka might be a team later on. Still it's odd her and Kitana even with them being mother and daughter. That's what I thought. So why Sindel and Kitana? Actually Jade could pop up with Smoke as a MKII throwback now that I think about it.

I honestly think Rain would probably be paired with Tanya. Shrug.
I'm also thinking Kenshi and Ermac, Mileena and Baraka.

Voted team edenia.
I wonder if nitara and reptile will be teamed up.
Also li mei and onaga. I would probably vote for either over ermac and kenshi. Its not about liking a character anymore for me. Its about the story and success of the pairups.

Exactly! I think Kano and Kabal would have been a great matchup better than the former and Jarek
@Mintpuff Ermac and Kenshi, that's a tag team match up that I would love to see. I can't wait to see how other kharacters are paired up with each other.

Aw, Ermac lost. Oh well. I'm just proud he made it that far. Sub-Zero rules!
Here are some team-ups I hope to be concieved:
-Mileen and Baraka
-Reptile and Nitara
-Scorpion and Noob Saibot
-Ashrah and Fujin
-Havik and Hotaru
-Li Mei and Bo Rai Cho

Onaga - Kahn
Chameleon - Reptile
Sub - Frost

Scorpion - Quan
.. i think there are heaps of options which will make a few things interesting.
But unless you make a voting option that allows users to pick who they would like a particular charcter to be paried with (so you choose Meat, then a list of 63 charcters appear and you pick the one you think wopuld make a good team..... ) and do this for EVERY character (which would take alot time) then have a mediator then select those winners for this tornament, and hope there arn't any collisions (which means the mediator would have to then choose the second most selected match up for that character) or the other matched character’s favorite team selection from users isn't different and is matched to each other THEn you might get a fiar tornament... But to be honest, to program that, organise that and sort that is just rediculous. So i believe that this is interesting and will be fun to see someone elses selections for MK team match ups.

Sub always wins these things.
A few years back was a thread where users ranked fighters outta 10 and the average was the score. Each day a new fighter was picked until all 64 were voted.
Sub won with like 94/100 beating Kahn 92/100
That was sorta biased though cos SZ was the first to be voted for and the thread hadn't really taken off yet.
