A tough call, but I say Tanya by a hair's breadth. She's a grunt, but she has the distinction of being a smart grunt. Really enjoyed her in MK4 and MKD. Gameplay-wise, she's a bastardization of Akuma, Cammy and Chun-Li. What more could I ask for?

I have to say hands down SINDEL, I mean she DOMINATED ALL in MK9, she DESERVES it over even our favorite characters (Kitana/Sub/Scorp/Kung Lao/Mileena). That b!tch's crazy LOL!!!

Sindel, like Blaze, is a character whose sole purpose was to be a plot device to one single story. After that Sindel become uneeded and her participation in MKD was very forced and practically insignificant. I don't think that she is needed in the future games, especially given MK9 storyline.

At the same time, much like Mileena, Tanya received an awesome story boost in the MKD - her character was nicely developed and she received her own rival in the form of Jade. Though I'd prefer, if NRS told why they hate for each other. Unlike many other MK-traitors, Tanya is an interesting case. She is not striving for power or some definite goal. Her target is survival at any cost. For that she is ready to join whoever is in the power right now. I wonder what could make her completely save? Maybe she has some sort of paranoia?

Anyway, with how MK9 played out, Tanya have a veyy big chance to shine in the next MK game. Maybe she will try to separate Edenia from Outworld and join Rain for that purpose? For me it would be delicious treat to see two "professional" backstabbers next to each other, constantly arguing and taunting each other. If that ever happens, I'll put my money on Tanya - she is calm and calculating, unlike Rain who, I see as more impulsive and hotheaded.

In the end, while Sinel is much more impressive, when it comes to appearance, Tanya have much more potential and more interesting character.

I dunno, Tanya's MKD look was one of my favourites of the bunch. She retained the Edenian fashion statement with the leotard, but added some uniqueness to it, like the shorter boots, the sarong and the strapless top-part. I think she looks gorgeous in that game and I hope her design in the next MK will be an updated version of it.

You know, Tanya might have a lot of potential for good story, but Sindel has just as much if not more. I like both of these ladies (Sindel more, though) and while Sindel doesn't have much use after she serves her plot purposes (though she still has a more developed story than almost every other character in the series, plot device or not, at least she had a purpose and a background that made her one of the most significant characters in the series), if they'd focus on the right aspects of her character, she'd have just as good a story if not better than Tanya's (currently nonexistent good story). I can't say that Tanya has great potential that has never been used and ignore the huge pile of story Sindel is roosting on top of.

Well, she's Edenian and she holds on to her roots though she's a traitor. She misses Edenia and wants to return, hence why she helped Onaga to conquer it. She has no reason to dress otherwise, but I agree that it could be alot more unique. I still think her look in MKD added some unique things to make her stand out from the rest of the Edenian ladies without losing the original concept.

Great amount backstory doesn't automatically equates to the development potential. As I see it, most of the Sinel story was established to make her a significant character in MK3, not just a plot device out of nowhere, since she wasn't present (and even mentioned) in the past games.
In the games after MK3 she was barely mentioned and I think it was rumored that she was killed during the events of MK4 / Gold. Her MKD story wasn't really significant as was the case with almost all returned characters in this game.

I actually thought this fight would be pretty even, i guess people just like Sindel the most. I voted her because i think Sindel is awsome, but Tanya is a great charachter as well. Pretty sad she will be out on the first round.
