I prefer Tanya by far, though Sindel isn't bad.
Guess I'm the only person who has voted for Tanya for now...

Sindel because I can't stand Tanya.
I like the idea of Tanya, I just think she's always been kind of mediocre, but she's still pretty close to my favorites. Sindel, on the other hand, has been a favorite of mine since I was a little kid, not to mention being an old lady. As an old lady, Sindel spits in the face of fighting games that exclude them and even get rid of female characters who have aged too much (or make them eternally young.... I'm looking at you SC)... She spits especially hard in the face of douchebag fans who say women would never be able to fight at that age like a man could... Well, Sindel's a magical zombie, she doesn't need male endurance to stab people in the throat with her heels.

Sindel. I thought Tanya was horrible in MK4, though she did improve in Deception. I like her look but her moves and story aren't all that fascinating to me. Sindel is solid.

Tough choice; I went Sindel though in the end. Her hair attacks are pretty nifty hehe, and yeah, she's one of the fewer older characters in the games so she's got a unique niche there. I felt her part in MK9 was very rushed though...
Tanya never grew on me, so meh. Maybe in MK10 she'll have a decent part to play and change my mind.

Although I didn't much care for Tanya upon her debut in MK4 she grew on me later in the series. However, Sindel holds seniority with me and I find her to be a more well balanced character than Tanya. I do hope to see good things from Tanya in the future but for now my vote is going to have to be for Sindel.

Sindel.
Tanya turned into just another one of those characters who ends up fighting for whichever big bad guy takes over. Theres not really anything else to her. She could be interesting though but they made her just another fillier.
Sindel to me has always been interesting. I lvoe her in MK 3 and loved the undead-banshee type thing they were going for. And also taht she was my favourite characters mom. Good design, good concept, well used. So much future potential too.

I have always liked Sindel, but I have never really loved her. She has always been a good plot-device with the whole merging of Outworld and Earthrealm, Kitana convincing her to join her freeing Edenia, her freeing Kitana along with Jade in MKD, and now her kicking all the heroes' ass'... They were all good stories, admittedly. But she has just not been a character I liked to play as and I have never found her all that interesting. I would rather that when Edenia is freed, Sindel dies and Kitana takes the throne. Sindel is a plot device, a cool plot device, but that's all she is.
Tanya on the other hand has SO much potential and I really hope NRS will exploit that potential in the next game. She has always been an interesting character, she's always looked out for herself, a survivor, a master sorceress, a knowledge seeker and a backstabber. Though I found the rivalry with Jade unnecessary, since it felt forced just to have another Scorpion/Subbie or Kitana/Mileena rivalry going on, I still wish to know if there lies more behind it than Jade hating her just for betraying Edenia, because if that's the case, Jade could have the same rivalry with Rain.
In any case, I have always loved Tanya. Her special moves, her weapons in MKD, though her fatalities are somewhat lacking... I am voting for her.

I like both. I really liked Tanya's gameplay in MK4, after all she was the best character in the game tier-wise. Loved her flip kick and corkscrew kick plus her screams were awesome.
However, I find Sindel's hair and scream attacks even cooler and to me she's visually a superior character, one of the more unique looking in the entire franchise. I really like her primary costume in the latest game, pretty much the only new female character costume that impressed me.
So, my vote goes to Sindel.

Why? Because I don't like traitorious Edenians.

I freaking love Tanya! I wish she could have made it another round. She's a great character that's under utilized. I would have loved to have seen her in the DLC pack. There's so much story to tell about her. I like Sindel, but I love Tanya.

I hope I'm not the only one who looks at these pairings and says, "how the Hell does X even stand a chance against Y?" This is probably the first solid comparable match that's relatively tough to decide for me. Meh, I like Sindel more, even as a bad guy.

Nope, you aren't the only one. Many of the battles are "fixed" to make the popular characters be pushed forward in the competition. It's quite obvious.
This was kind of a tough call for me.
I absolutely love and adore Tanya, as she's probably the first evil character who isn't evil by nature, but by circumstance. I also love her potential to become great and powerful, as I've said before, if there ever would be a female boss, it should be her.
HOWEVER!
Sindel, for me, is the matriarch of the MK females, as well as the MK Edenians, being the oldest, wisest, and dare I say strongest of them all. Sindel is also one if the icons of the MK series, and one of the key characters in both timelines. It absolutely killed me when she died in MK2011. Sindel is indeed one of my favorite MK characters, and I'll always root for her, regardless if she's good or evil (though I prefer good).
With that said, I choose Sindel.

It's also arranged so that certain matches will take place next round, like Raiden/Fujin, Frost/Sub Zero, Shao Kahn/Sindel, Sheeva/Motaro (though these two are more likely to lose, they are a more significant match than Goro/Kintaro), Sonya/Kano, Reptile/Khameleon etc.... I think it had more to do with ensuring specific match ups than sabotaging unpopular characters. Of course, the more popular characters are the ones in the desired match ups, so.... The two ideas kind of go hand in hand.

Clever who-ever-made-the-competition.
But oh well, no need to freak out about it. The competition doesn't mean anything, it's just a silly little thing to participate in on a fan-site forum. It's not like it means anything.
