Definately voting for Rain.
Blaze is one of the most boring characters and most uninspired bosses ever! He didn't have a single original move and he looks like all the other fire characters of other games, like Cinder from Killer Instinct and Inferno from Soul Calibur. There is no originality attached to Blaze what so ever.
Rain on the other hand has grown as a character and become quite an original character. There are already only a very few characters in fighting games using water as their element, and Rain even got more to him than just being a water-warrior as he is a demigod with control of weather and storm. Though he still has the purple palette swap ninja look, it is one of the better design amongst them PLUS he is the first male Edenian to be playable in the game which I also give him credit for.
So what if he's based on a joke, he's no longer a joke character. People's ignorancy blinds them from seeing how much Rain has grown and I hope he will become a fully playable character from the start in the next game.

i used to like rain until his return in mkarmageddon.
he looked like a damn mystic force power ranger. just horrible.
blaze, who started out a generic looking fire covered guy ended up looking pretty sweet in mka.
i know rain will win, but blaze is the better character

i actually think blaze had potential before they made him into a giant fire monster. anyways i voted for rain. so far this was the hardest match for me.
If it were up to me, all the Edenian natives would win.
Unfortunately, I know that can't be, seeing that two of them are matched up (Sindel and Tanya, if I'm correct). With that said, I choose Rain. Besides, how can you say no to a character who's based on a Prince song?

Blaze is the worst character, worst boss, and worst plot device the series has ever had, if you ask me.... So... I vote Cinder!
No, I vote Rain. When it comes to palette swapped ninjas, water is my element of choice. He's the only male character in this series I can play as without cringing.

lluvia....errr I mean rain.
Rain.
Blaze was more of a plot device (re)created to justify MKA storyline, rather than fullfleshed character. In MKDA he was an interesting addition, but in general he had feeling of a bonus character, that was thrown in the game in in the last minute, without much of thinking of who he is. His appearance is boring in both forms. In his regular form he looks like Cinder or Torch. In his boss form - he heavily reminds Astaroth from Soul series. His special wasn't that impressive aside from "Steamroller" move and the lack of his own death animation was downright pathetic. In general he is the character whose sole purpose is to a be a final boss of MKA story. Aside from that, he have no nor purpose nor meaning in the series, that essentially makes him a character without much space for development or changes.
Rain, on the orher hand, was born as a money-grabbing joke and has evolute into character of his own, with his signatue moves and unique powers. In MKA he was one of the best characters in the game, in terms of design and moveset. In MK9 he became even better, though his design was a bit too traditional. Unlike Blaze, Rain has a wide room, or should I say, a giant hall for development. Him being cowardly traitor and egotist makes him into interesting character. He could be ally to anyone as long as it serves his own ends or ruthless enemy with big ego, who falls victim of his own crazy schemes and bertrayals (or probably both at the same time?). In general, he is probably on of the most interesting characters at the moment and I hope that he will play a great role in the next MK game.

Liking this tournament although the outcome is probably rather predictable.
So far I have voted
(Would ahve voted Khameleon bu missed it)
Sub Zero
Taven
Sareena
Li Mei
Kitana
Blaze
I really dont like Rain, an overrated character and blaze was a bit underrated. His trip from secret unlockable mysteriosu guy to uber all powerful boss was a little too sudden and forced but I think he had and still does have potential. Rain is a just another pallette swap, one too far IMO.
Most of the matches are a bit one sided but I think thats fairly expected first round of a tournament like this, especially with so much fodder around.
Would be interesting to see vote totals.
Good matchups in round one are:
Sindel/Tanya
Jade/Skarlet (though I think sadly Jade will take it)
Meat/Mileena (Just to see how much meat gets lol he'll get my vote at least)
Ermac/Reptile
Smoke/Sektor
Ashrah/Nitara (come on Nitara!!!)
Sheeva/Kintaro

Unwilling bride to Edenia's conqueror, many years ago; Queen Sindel chose death over untold decades of despair, inadvertently heralding doom upon another hapless world. In an age of restored prominence, Tanya would use her position as daughter of an ambassador to provide refuge to victims of embattled realms, unwittingly tempting new disaster upon Edenia. A sense of self-preservation leads her to choose serving would-be conquerors over protecting her realm. In Round 1, will it be the high road or low that ensures victory?

After seeing that amount of ass whooping Sindel dished out during Campaign I'm definitely voting for Sindel.
