Ok I got the game tonight and got konquest out of the way. Couple of thoughts:
1. Just looking at the evil possibilities in KAK is amazing. As soon as I have the money for all the moves I'm going to make some of my friends lives miserable.
2. MEAT! Again i'm aware of highlevel play but I personally never bother to get to it but he looks like a seroius threat. I haven't checked his lows and mids since I was just comp stomping for fun but he has some serious power. His base throw is nothing amazing but he has two awesome ones in wrestling. One is a backbreaker that does 20% with no wepaon and 24% with and it seems that he lunges forward when he grabs giving it nice range. Combined with his teleport and you might be able to really screw people up. His other throw seems to actually grab low. I haven't tested it against crouching but basically you throw them up into the air for a free juggle or air combo. He also seems to have a health recovery taunt, but what really impressed me is that his slide has quite possibly no start up at all. If you do it right next to an opponent who isn't already blocking low I don't think it's possible for them to stop it on reaction alone. I haven't messed with cleaver much(had too much fun tele throwing) but it looks like it has decent variety. The only problem is see for meat is against the boss characters minus shao and motaro. He can't throw them, and his specials don't work on them which leaves you pretty much stuck in cleaver or with 2 of your best wrestling moves gone.
Also on the air combo's: I agree they're mostly useless but certain characters(like meat) have a string where instead of hitting them into the ground you uppercut them to continue the combo. As far as I can tell it's impossible to get out of without using a breaker since you never hit the ground. That might be worth looking into.

Do you have the ability with the new combo system to be really creative in coming up with unique combo's?
Can you jumpkick into specials?
Can you punch people out of the air to start combos or beat someone in the air when they kick at you?

i havent found any infs yet (really havent been lookin) free throws still exist as ive done some.
air kombat is pointless. most of it looks retarted and feels slow. picture doing the combination, youre done, but the guy is still in the air kicking. it feels weird. i just stick to the short ones that are faster and dont look as dumb. it is cool to have a useful jump game back with jump kicks. no jump punches tho :(
the wakeup game looks good, but its pretty much pointless. you can be attacked while youre laying there (people can jsut walk up and sweep you)and all your wakeup attackes can be broke and parried.
the side step almost feels useless as well. for some reason it just isnt as useful as it was on the past games. it feels slower and you usally still get hit...maybe it all depends on the character you use?

I thought I would tell you guys that I submitted hdtrans thread on mkd and da's broken gameplay to gamespots greg kasavin one day before he did his video review.
I dont know if this had any impact on him saying the fighting engine was outdated and other comments he made on the engine as he never got back to me, but it might have.
I wonder if the game is rentable yet as an alternative to buying it.

The air kombat is ok. It can be slow depending on what air combo you do.
I might be misunderstanding you, but you seem surprised at still being able to get hit while laying. You can get hit while laying down on the ground in any game with a wake-up game. Wake-up game gives you options, but it doesn't mean that your 100% in the clear, nor should you. It provides a cat and mouse game, whether or not your opponent wants to take a chance and hit you on the ground, or pay the price by getting hit from a mid or low-wake.
There aren't necessarily throw escapes in the game, but apparently some others who have tested out the mechanics of the game, you can use breakers against throws.
And as far as Motaro goes, I played him in practice mode, believing that he would be a slow character like he seemed in the gameplay vids, but this is a case where just because it "seems" that way, you don't actually know 100% for sure until you actually try it. When I was in practice mode, Motaro's moves don't seem slow to me at all. His "stance" move lets you do 4 different things, and if you have good timing, you can do some damage. It's almost like a mini-wake up move. If he seemed slow to you, then that's fine, maybe he did. For me personally though, he didn't seem slow.

BTW, guys I just found out that the xbox version is better then the PS 2 version.Not knocking the PS 2, just stating what I've read, heard and watched on some of the reviews on the game.

Still working on getting online (anybody know of a good wireless device to connect with the ps2 bba?), but from single player and konquest standpoint I am 100% pleased with this. THough I must say, playing MK with a wakeup game is fuckin wierd.

and cyrax has a inf in first stance, but u can tech roll out of it, ive done 50 hits with him
some of the air infs can only be done in corner, but some are like jades and simple as fuck and can be done midscreen

KAF has this glitch where the moves weren't happening even though the character was grunting. The animations came out only when I assigned a move my self.
This game is riddled with little glitches like that.
