Kano is sweet news! We don't know much about his variations, but, his wrestling one could fit him perfectly. His other variations may be, Knives and Lasers.
As for his design, it seems pretty cool. I Hope he has a more older look with cybernetics for his alt.
To everyone: Even if the Kano reveal would of been kept for GamesCom, I don't think it would of wow'd us as to seeing a MK4-D or new character.
I think they did that because he is a returnee from MK9. We will have more character reveals come GamesCom.

I pray you're right. Because these past two reveals just haven't been doing it for me.

No see...here's the thing:
1) I do see the resemblance. But I see it as a COINCIDENCE because they're BOTH cyborgs with military backgrounds who wear a glowing red thing on their chest and have ALWAYS had that in common. The chest thing is just more prominent now is all.
2) You're the ONLY person in the thread being reasonable about pointing the resemblance out. Everyone else TOTALLY IS hyperbolically crying "Hsu Hao clone", which is just childish and inappropriate.

With past games, especially the DC ones, they tended to reveal multiple characters per event, not just one guy every month or two like they did with Raiden or all throughout MK9.
I would hope that Kano being revealed in a magazine means that he won't be the only guy shown at GamesCom.

Just as odd to give a female ninja warrior armor on her shoulders and forearms, while the rest of her body is not only visible as fuck, but the vital points are unprotected. LOL.
It is what it is. It's just a character design. Honestly, we shouldn't put too much thought into this, but we can't help but too.

Again, the perfect thing to do would be to reveal a new character at Gamescom and have video footage of them fighting Kano. Just my opinion.

Ok, good to know. I wasn't around during the wait for Injustice so I wasn't exactly sure how they went about with character reveals for that game. Here's to hoping we get maybe two more characters along with Kano at the convention.

Well well well. Saw the pics.
At first glance, I'm not impressed, but that's not set in stone. Not until I see an HD render or some gameplay.

First of all... thank you. -^^-
And second, I don't think it's a coincedence, seeing as it is the same designers (or some of them) who designed Hsu Hao who have also made this look for Kano.
I mean, Kano already got a big part of Hsu Hao's storyline merged with his own in MK9, so maybe this is how NRS is telling us that Hsu Hao is definately no more, because Kano has taken over his story and looks.
Also, I'd like to say that now that the initial shock is over, I'm less disappointed with the look, but I'm still not happy with it. It's just not how I imagined Kano. But again, maybe it will be better after I've seen it in motion.

The game takes place in multiple different time periods, starting with "right after MK9", "five years later", "ten years later", etc. Cassie's 25 years later era isn't the only one.

I actually really like this style of Kano. I think the short receding hairline is the best look for him.
As for the whole "Hsu Hao clone" thing....That's honestly the best some of you can come up with?

No seriously. HE HAS to have a Knife variation. Oh my fucking God!
He might have a laser variation although I cannot for the life of me see how that will play out.

Some folks just can't be pleased. And some just don't like Kano and will point out every flaw (real or imagined). Nature of the beast.
As a non-Kano fan, I feel like they could have done A LOT worse with Kano's design. Personally, the mercenary-shtick suits him well and his hair does look much, much better. The dastana-like armor on his forearms seems practical, and wrestling/brawling is appropriate for Kano.
The Hsu Hao stuff is premature, imo. Yes he shares some similarities, but as others have pointed out, seeing as how Hsu Hao isn't coming backx I don't see an issue with incorporating a few of his designs into Kano.
I think once we start seeing some gameplay footage, some users around here will probably change their tune. Honestly, I think a lot of folks are just pissed off that it's Kano that's been revealed/leaked, and not Ermac or Fujin.
Oh well. I think he looks lightyears better than he did in MK9, and I'm actually excited to see more of him. And that's really all that matters to me.

That Kano has similarities with Hsu Hao is not necessarily a bad thing. Some people on here agree that the similarities are there and still like his new look.

It's not a bad design to me so much as just very underwhelming. I guess it isn't what I was hoping for in my head, you know? I was hoping to see a more aged Kano with more cybernetic enhancements.

I admit, I'm guilty as charged. While I'm not "goo goo" about his new look I'm more still surprised that he was revealed so damn early lol. He was revealed I think next to last in MK9. Oh well, like I said, good for the Kano fans! At least they don't have to worry about waiting to know if he's in or not! As for the rest of us poor slobs? Back to the gallows for our long wait.

What about..
Having Kano's variations shown like they did with Raiden, fight against an already confirmed character like Ferra/Torr or Cassie? We do need more gameplay from them two. I would also like to see D'Vorah's venomous variation in play.

We always could, you never know. As Razor stated, just because it says 25 years in the future, that doesn't mean that's the only time period that will be explored. I think we're going to be seeing Kano early in the story, and maybe later on. If later on too, he may have an aged alt.

I mean one of his variations could in fact have him appear more aged and cybernetic.

I tend to like Kano a lot more than a lot of people on this site. To me, he's scum. A low life mercenary that would do anything to save his own skin, including sell out his own realm.
To me, that part of his character makes him unique. He's not just "evil" in the traditional sense, though he certainly seems to enjoy inflicting pain on others, but he's a survivor at his core, which to me has always separated him from the sidekicks, the lackeys, and the retreads.
In short, I like him. I don't like his repeated storyline with the Special Forces, but he's a cool character idea overall, even if he's not always presented to the best of his potential (a club that has more than it's fair share of members when you think about it).
Speaking of which, Kano's design here. Yeah, not feelin it. Hopefully those arm guards have a purpose beyond looking fugly and extraneous. The design just seems kind of uninspired. Like someone said "okay, we're redoing this guy for like the 100th time. I dunno, change his chest thingy and throw some crap on his arms. There. Done."
On the plus side, I love that he has a wrestling variation! I hope it's not just one or two command throws either. I'd like to see at least ten, with a few multipart throws in there as well.
I'll hold off full judgment until I've seen him in action a few times, but given what I've seen in Kano so far (admittedly not much), and Raiden as well as the rest of the characters, I really hope the character designers start stepping up their game. I have yet to see something that really floors me so far.
