Any who, I hate how they portrayed him in MK9, should've stuck with the MKSM version where he was the quiet mysterious one instead of the jealous one that dies.

I know! They took his Clint Eastwood-esque charisma away. That was my favorite thing about him, his reserved quiet and mysterious nature. He's still an amazing character though. I hope they stray away from the jealous, naieve boy route in the future, though

Me too, I don't know why they went with the jealous attitude for him this time around. It didn't fit him. I have always seen Kung Lao and Liu Kang to be like brothers, but also rivals, however, honourable ones. The moments where they kinda gang up against Cage or when Kung Lao teases Liu Kang about Kitana being his girlfriend, those are the moments where they have that brotherly quality about them and I liked that. Kung Lao has no reason to be jealous at Liu Kang, because he already has something mighty about him, being the descendant of the Great Kung Lao and honouring his memory.

That's why I liked Kung Lao the best in MKDA, storyline wise, that is. Kung Lao might be a secondary character, a sidekick to Liu Kang and though I would like for him to go his own path, he fills out the sidekick role so well in MKDA where he even wants to avenge his fallen comrade.

Back in the day, she wasn't nearly as popular as Kitana or Mileena. I remember back when MK Deception came out, there were so much hate towards Jade and I was one of the very few who actually liked her.

Funny enough, many of those who hated her back then made a 180 when they saw how she looked like in this game. Her popularity suddenly went through the roof while people started liking Kitana and Mileena less and less because of things like Mileena's eyes, Kitana's hair, their outfits etc.

I didn't expect Jade to win over Mileena in this poll, as it seems like Jade's popularity has slowly fallen again, but apparently not enough to allow Mileena to win over her.

Everybody loves secret characters. Joking aside Jade is a great character. She is a strong, noble, loyal warrior. I always thought of her being like a female Kung Lao. In the sense that, Jade and Kung Lao are sidekicks to their best friends.

No. I have seen that coupling before and it is just too... bizarre. A subpar version of Liu Kang and Kitana. The Jade and Jax coupling from the second movie made more sense.

I get what you mean though with Jade and Kung Lao being alike as sidekicks to other characters. Kinda like how Jax is to Sonya too...
Support characters can sometimes be more awesome than the characters they support, and in those three cases that's what they are, imo. ^^

I don't remember this lol. I remember people being unhappy that Jade and Mileena were in but Kitana was out, probably misplaced anger from Kitana fans. myself included. I was mad as fuck Sindel, Mileena, AND Jade were in this game without Kitana.

But yeah I don't remember many people outright hating Jade although I know people did love her look for this game. Again myself included. I still think Kitana and Jade should have switched.

Nitara's a more or less decent concept that just needs serious work put in. She'd be amazing in a 2D MK with a revamped movelist. I look forward to her coming back - she's a fun wild card type character and I do love those - but for now she just feels too incomplete in terms of gameplay and overall presentation.It also helps that Kung Lao was good times in MK2011; good solid toned-down again-and-again times.

Definitely went with Kung Lao. I just don't find Nitara very interesting.

Voted Sonya even though I don't care for either of them. And I hate both characters' designs in MK9. Give me MKDA Sonya/Kano any day.

MK2011 Kano is the best looking Kano ever and I like his intro and win-poses, but I'm still going with Sonya (primary costume sucks, alt is nice). Main reason, Kano is kind of "meh" gameplay wise and I don't remember ever having fun playing as Kano in any of the previous games. Sonya was in a terrible gameplay crisis during the MKDA-MKA era, but she's super fun to play as in MK2011 and she was fun in MK4 where she also looked best. Story wise I find both uninteresting.

I like them both but just slightly prefer Sonya.

I've been dreading this vote ever since the brackets made themselves apparent. They're both amazing characters and deserve to advance, imo. I'm going to have to take the day to really think about this, haha.
