This one is dumb all around.
At least if Ashrah had won it would've been a funny little battle of Hats.

I like Nitara a lot. She has potential, but needs an ass load of work. COMPLETE revamp of gameplay is required to make her good. She can't be a Skarlet knock-off in the future.
Kung Lao obviously is the winner here.

Damn right. Would've been a fun match-up.

i voted for nitara. she's a vampire. what's not to like about her. she was alot of fun in da, then she wasn't in deception which made me sad. in mka she was ok. hope she returns.

I was wondering what people think about Nitara using the kamas as her weapon of choice, weapons that Sareena originally used in MK Mythologies. And while she kept those weapons, Sareena got a more or less ordinary knife. I liked the kamas and they do fit Nitara, but I would rather she either handed the weapons over to Sareena and got something else, maybe a whip or a scythe, or that they both used the kamas in MKA. Mavado and Kabal both used hookswords.

I think her using the Kamas is fitting. I like the idea of Nitara. But as a vampire, no.
The whole vampire thing kills me. I just can't stand vampires. What's next Werewolves? (I can't lie, that would be awesome) But that would be too similar to Killer Instinct's Sabrewulf.

I like Nitara using kamas, but I think it'd be pretty cool if they changed it to a whip or scythe as J-R said, or a sickle cane.
As for her being a vampire, I think it's a unique thing for MK, even if the whole vampire fad has run its course about 10 times over. I still enjoy them.

I swear some of these fight line-ups are just unfair.
Kung Lao, a very popular character vs Nitara, a character that really never got a fair chance to become something even better.
This fight is like comparing who would win in a fight between a gerbil and a tiger shark. -_-

Is there a difference between a scythe and a sickle cane?
I'm on the other boat, I always thought MK needed a vampire character. I have always been a fan of vampires, but not those tween romance stuff. Interview with a Vampire, Blade, Underworld, World of Darkness (the RolePlaying system), where vampires are deadly but intelligent and beautiful monsters, that's the category of vampires Nitara fits under. She's intelligent and beautiful and she knows how to use it to get her will done. She's a seductress, a warrior, a diplomat.
I wouldn't mind seeing a werewolf too, though Nightwolf is a bit like one, though not really showing it in his gameplay. Native Americans turning werewolf has been common-place a long time before Twilight, and I think it could be cool to see Nightwolf turn completely werewolf as a permanent curse or something like that. It would be a nice step in another direction than the same old boring shaman thing which is the only thing he's been doing, like Scorpion milking the revenge thing. He could keep his moves and fighting style, just look like a werewolf. That way a werewolf character wouldn't be a Sabrewulf rip-off either, as it is already a part of Nightwolf.

I think nitara does warrant pity. Shes not one of my faves. Neithner is kung lao. But shes clearly overmatched here. She has nothing but potential and id love to see more of her... But as she is now she will not win.
I voted Kung Lao because I think he's awesome. He was my second favorite character in MK2. Just great overall.
I don't have a problem with Nitara per se, but Twilight is the perfect example of one bad apple spoiling the bunch. Everytime I see any vampire-themed media, especially new, I roll my eyes. I can't take it seriously anymore. The market is too saturated with that douchy crap and everything new that comes out doesn't seem sincere. It seems like a blatant attempt to capitalize on the Twilight popularity (whether or not it really is trying to).
Blade, Underworld, Interview with a Vampire, Legacy of Kain, The Lost Boys, etc. That's the kind of vampire stuff I grew up with and enjoy.

I don't think either of them should use them. Nitara is a vampire, NRS should just come up with a bunch of cool unique moves for her. I see her weapons as the results of the gameplay for the last generation of MK games. Not something important for her character. I was wondering what people think about Nitara using the kamas as her weapon of choice, weapons that Sareena originally used in MK Mythologies.
Sareena, well she's a demon they should come up with some cool unique moves for her as well. The throwing knives are cool if a little bit plain but if it came down to it I suppose she could have those kama/little scythe things back.

^^THIS. A hundred thousand times this. Each and every one. If I were still a sub-mod, I'd give you dragon points on principle alone.
But I do agree that the market is over-saturated. I just think that, when done correctly, they're still awesome, even in spite of Twilight's best efforts to turn something so cool in to something so horribly, horribly lame.

Pity Votes? Stale? Seriously, those words should never be associated with Nitara. She's arguably the most intriguing and interesting new character introduced in the 3D era, in fact I'm surprised shes not as popular as Kenshi is.
Do people forget that it's ultimately Nitara's fault the Dragon King even returned? Or how she single-handedly managed to manipulate both Cyrax and Reptile into doing her bidding, even pitting them against each other, before either sussed out what her intentions were?
She's evidently one of the smartest, most resourceful female characters in the series. She's a Tactician, a Historian, she's cunning, manipulative, lethal, self-centred and naturally very dark and seductive.
Her existence alone introduces a whole new race into Mortal Kombat which in the space of two games has already had it's backstory and culture explained to the fans. So she's a vampire, big deal? If anything her existence as a character pre-dates the popularity of the Twilight series and of all the fictional races out there I can't think of one that fits into Mortal Kombat any better than a Vampire. Her fatality in Deadly Alliance was one of the most gruesome and horrific in the series.
I vote Nitara. Her playstyle could do with an update but I think she's by far one of the most interesting characters in the series.

As much as I love your petitioning for Nitara, I'm afraid its not good enough to convince people that she's better than Kung Lao. After all, these people voted in favor of Jade instead of Mileena and Jade got her stomach ripped out by Sindel....
