I voted for Goro.
While I really liked Kintaro in MK2, that was about it. They're both Shokan sub-bosses, so I really don't see a ton of potential in either, so the tie kinda goes to Goro here. He's been around longer and what little development he's been given trumps the one time Kintaro wasn't average or worse.

Just out of curiousity, but what happened to Mick?
Hope he's okay. I read something in another thread that was (possibly?) a joke...

This might he a little off-topic, considering the current match up, but is it safe to say that Shinnok is the Satan of the Mortal Kombat series?
Seeing as he is probably the most evil character in the series, and he has completely rejected the idea of benevolence and mercy, as well as residing in a realm of death and torment, it seems as though Shinnok shares a light of Satan, which is quite interesting to be honest.
I also ask this in light of the fact that in this sense, with Raiden being the god of thunder and protector of Earthrealm, he can be considered MK's image of God, thus MK4 (and the next MK game) being the war between God and Satan.

Goro is my favorite MK character of all time, so of course I'll be voting for him. Goro has been around longer, he was the original shokan sub-boss, he's more iconic, has a better storyline, and in my opinion is just all around more awesome. In addition to being the classic sub boss Goro actually has a good storyline. Both of them got the shaft big time in Mortal Kombat 9, but at least Goro was somewhat hard and not cuddly looking like Kintaro.
In Christian ideology yes it would be the heaven hell battle. Shinnok overthrew lucifer though who had ruled Netherrealm before him. God in MK sounds old testament because it may e synonymous with the one being. MK follows new pagan iconography.
Now c'mon Goro stay in the lead.

I voted Goro!!!
He was the very first boss character of any game I have ever faced. And when MK4 came rolling by, he was super ridiculous to face.
I love Kintaro as well as I struggled way more against him. But I only got to face him in MK2 whereas Goro I got to fight twice.
MK9 kinda softened them up big time, especially Kintaro.
So my choice is Goro for the good times, taking my losing virginity way back when.

Why is the total 50/50 when at other times there are totals that don't add up to 100%.

Because in all the other match-ups, people hate on characters. I think this is the one poll that remains neutral.

I mean on other polls it has ended with a missing percentage. e.g
"Wildcard: Khameleon (53.3%) d. Chameleon (46.6%)"
Where is the 0.1%
I might be answering my own question here by realizing that it may be to avoid a draw.

Yea, I agree.
The whole "fallen elder god" thing isn't unlike Lucifer being cast out of heaven either.
Kintaro.
Goro was among the best of MK's cast until MKD Gamecube came along and assassinated his character. He hasn't done much since.
Kintaro on the other hand finally got the bit of character expansion he desperately needed. I wish he didn't have a kittyface, but it's a minor gripe.
A pity they both sucked as bosses this time through.

What exactly do you mean with character expansion? You mean the part where it is explained he is a lower class Shokan? That amongst Shokan, he's a nobody, just muscles on legs. Is that what you mean?

Goro and Kintaro were ridiculously easy in MK9. I actually think Goro was easier than Kintaro. But all you have to do is keep jumping over them and land your best combo, rinse and repeat.
Shang Tsung was the hardest boss in the game. Harder than Spam Khan even.

Yep, I think Kintaro's the easiest. Regardless of taunts, all of his attacks are just so easy to avoid altogether. Shang Tsung is definitely harder than Goro, Kintaro, and Shao Kahn (who is basically designed to be punished).

Could be that they aren't trying to be precise like for instance Khameleon could have been (53.37%) and Chameleon could be (46.63%) you know what I mean?
