Just a side note; I really hate it when people start these things off with: "Its my right!" or "Everyone is entitled to an opinion!" Yeah you are but that doesn't mean people won't disagree with you and start a casual debate.

And that brings up another point. Yes this poll is harmless and just meant for fun, but why should that stop us from starting up discussions and argue a bit? Anyways...



I still don't understand why people are so devoted to the stories of the games when its been made abundantly clear that the MK team doesn't pay attention to its own lore.



Darrius believes his rebel movement is in the right and will do anything to accomplish his goals. He believes the end justifies the means, and will do whatever it takes to overthrow Seido. Are his motives in the moral right or is he in fact just a terrorist like some say? The way he manipulates Dairou to help him and how he causes massive riots shows just how cunning he really is.

Darrius is a character with depth. Darrius also happens to be a shit character nobody cares about. On the other hand, Mileena has been retconned to be the equivalent of a child with a rockin' body, yet people still love her.

You're understating it. Darrius had a story in one game. Not enough time for people to care about him. Mileena has story stretching across almost 20 years worth of games. When people prefer Mileena they prefer her abundant history not necessarily her portrayal in this one game.

Before this she was a conniving power hungry blood thirst warrior determined to gain power at any costs. MK9 doesn't erase everything we knew about her before hand.

And the story is important as it contributes to the characters we play as. Ashrah and Skarlet are good examples here. They have the moves they do and the apparence they do because of the background NRS gave to them. Shao Kahn being a giant realm conquering warlord influences show he moves and acts in the game.

The back stories are the bases of the characters and characters that lack good ones do tend to be less popular. People like Jarek and Reiko who just kind of show up.

It matters.

It's not my sole decider, but Story is a goddamn huge factor in how I vote. Don't forget the near-decade of shit gameplay this series went through where virtually nothing else but story was even worth talking about. And that's all the discussion I'll dignify this insanely stupid "story in fighting games" debate with.

I vote Kahn. Kitana's fatalities were average this game and her plot got butchered. Gets respect for bringing the gameplay back to being juggle-based, but that's about all. I've already gone on at length in the past about how Kahn lived up to my expectations, so there it is.

I guess that can be funny if properly executed.

If it wasn't for Shao Kitana wouldn't have a story. As, I stated before female characters are very popular. So, I expect a female or one of the Sub-Zero brothers to win.

Usually when I pick up a new fighting game, it's the character's fighting style that makes me first like them. Their story is what keeps me going. Imo, Kitana was by far the coolest character in MK because the way she fought with fans and the buzzsaw sound it made when it connected. Then learning her mysterious story intrigued me more, you didn't know if she was good or bad.
I don't think it's ridiculous to like a character more because of the story and growth. Like Oracle said, the story is what makes the characters look and fight like they do, so it's ridiculous to not include story when picking a favorite character. And it's kind of funny that you don't care about the story, but willing to learn about someone as obscure as Darrius lol.

I don't know about sweat pants but she could definitely use some bottoms lol.

I used to hate cage with a passion. He was always so boring and died half the time. But mk9 made me kind of like him. He survived. He had alot of character.

But i went with jade. Just wanted to try to keep the genders on equal ground. I dont love her persay. Shes got untapped potential especially if she isnt playing sidekick.
