I registered to vote for Noob.
Noob Saibot is much more important to the series than people give him credit for.
Noob Saibot was the Sub-Zero from MK Mythologies, he's the reason MK4 even exists...and furthermore is the reason Scorpion even exists. He killed Scorpion, and Scorpion was ressurected for the sole purpose of killing Bi-Han so that Shinnok and Quan Chi could ressurect him as Noob Saibot as a fit of ironic revenger for foiling their plans in MK Mythology.
Without Noob Saibot not only is there no Scorpion...there is also no Sub-Zero as his departure allowed his younger brother to take up the mantle.

That's true: Noob Saibot (Boon & Tobias) started it all.
Now he belongs to the Netherrealm (Studios). Will he rule it?

Also I figured out MKO's seeding.
They said the tournament was seeded based on a polling of MKO's staff of the greatest MK characters of all time, and then the top 8 were seeded.
Obviosuly Sub-Zero and Scorpion are number 1 and 2 respectivly...if you look at the way the seed the lines it goes left right, thats obvious, but if you want to the 8 seeds the criss cross, hence how Sub-Zero and Scorpion are on opposite sides of the lines.
The top 8 seeds are
1. Sub-Zero
2. Scorpion
then not certain the exact order but:
Shao Kahn
Johnny Cage
Raiden
Shang Tsung
Liu Kang
Goro
I believe though this is the order Since strongest seeds get fed weaker seeds as the tournament goes on.
1. Sub-Zero
2. Scorpion
3. Shang Tsung
4. Raiden
5. Johnny Cage
6. Liu Kang
7. Goro
8. Shao Kahn

Sonya & Kano are both awesome and big players in the MK series, tough to decide between the two but I'll vote Sonya Blade!

They criss crossed the top 8, then loosly bracketed the rest around them. Hence why Kung Lao is about the have a Showdown with Goro, and Sonya is currently taking on Kano. You could make the case that they seeded everyone, but there is no excuse for Asharah getting seeded over Reptile....after the top 8 it was loosly seeded to create interesting matchups. But as far as being lossely seeded goes its fairly obvious that the end characters are suppose to battle for the dividion finals...but characters like Jade and Smoke upset them...furthermore it was obvious that in the first round it was loosly seeded so that the inner characters would face the outer in round 2...which is happening right now.
But yea, it looks like as far as actual numbering goes its just the 8.

But I'm just repating whats in the first post:
"A staff pre-vote of the greatest characters of all-time determined eight top seeds, with a semi-randomized draw built around them"
There are only 8 seeds, and do make it work it has to be criss crossed, as Far left of one line is a seed, and Far Right of the next line is a seed.
And as it says other characters were thrown around those eight characters to make uinteresting matchups...so it is rigged, in that they expect so and so to face so and so...however, the voting isn't so it doesn't matter.
As far as seeds go, everything is as I listed except Cage and Liu can be interchangeble.
Goro suprises me. But looking at the main news story on the main page of MKO its obvious MK)=O staff likes Goro.

Before becoming the blackened revenant of the Brotherhood of the Shadow -- Noob Saibot was Bi-Han, Lin Kuei assassin called Sub-Zero. It was an act of vengeance that sent him to the Netherrealm, enacted by the restless ninja spectre Scorpion -- who he had killed! The rivalry is resurrected as Round 2 comes to a massive konclusion!

Noob because eenie meenie miney moe
I voted for Noob Saibot simply because I like him more.
If there was a new game coming out and NRS asked me whose promo material I'd like to see more, Noob Saibot's or Scorpion's, I'd go with the former.
I won't be sad if Scorpion wins, I appreciate the character.

As will I. Scorpion is the character whom even non-MK fans quote and recognize. The spear is one of the most iconic moves in ALL of fighting games- it shares the top of the roost with the SF Fireball and/or Dragon Punch, easily.
And Noob? Come on. Noob is a joke character named after the game designer, suddenly thrust into canon because the fans decided he was compelling. He's Sub-Zero's spirit? Was that idea REALLY so creative?
And (because it must be repeated) his first name roughly translates to "loser". This is a character I will never, EVER take seriously.
Hey fans, there's an unexplored avenue of the MK universe you can help us understand: how some people get to change their names upon entering the Netherrealm:
"Welcome to the Brotherhood of Shadow, Bi Han! Now you get a code name!"
"Why do I get a code name? NOBODY ELSE has a code name..."
"How about 'Fleep Senoj'?"
"...Nah. That's STUPID."

Just so you know, the expression "noob" didn't exist back when Noob Saibot was created. Also, "noob" doesn't mean loser, it derives from the word "newbie" which means someone who is inexperienced in a certain area and is not willing to learn.

Learn your stuff before you diss.
Noob Saibot is no noob. ^^

The round 2 main event!
I voted for Noob.
Look, Scorpion was my first main way back when MK1 came out, he has the spear and the "get over here" etc and that's all great. His moves and combos were among the most enjoyable to pull off in MK9 and his winning pose is fantastic. That's all great, no one is disputing his iconic nature.
But I do think that Noob matches him in terms of MK9 moveset, and c'mon, finding out that he was the original Sub-Zero? Probably one of the best storyline twists this series has ever seen.
While Scorpion has been mired in his revenge story, essentially since MK1, Noob has grown from being hidden character to being the first and only tag team character (along with Smoke) and everything about him was thoroughly realized and well fleshed out in MK9.
In short, Noob is the more intriguing character overall, and I care a lot more about what they do with him and his story going forward than what they do with Scorpions, because chances are, it'll probably just be more of the same for the latter.
Again, both characters are awesome, but the original Sub Zero wins this round for me, and it has ZERO to do with not wanting to see Scorpion advance. I just like the other character's potential a bit more.
