Tired of Kenshi
Ugh...Mavado.
Kenshi all the way. Discussion not even needed. Why does Mavado even have a vote at all?
Haha I like your devotion to the original trilogy. I know you've stated your disdain for the 3D era multiple times in the past but I respectfully disagree. I dig those games. Even in their hammy, poor excuses for a fighting game state, I'm not ashamed to admit I enjoy the hell out of them. I voted Mavado purely because I played him more in Deadly Alliance and I'd love to see him back. Kenshi is cool, but I'm sick of everyone treating him like the only good character to come from that era.
Dairou, Darrius and Kobra are still terrible though
Kenshi wasn't original trilogy. And as much as I hated the 3d era, I did like:
Kenshi
Hotaru
Li Mei
Nitara (in concept only)
Drahmin (in concept only)
I just couldn't stand any of the other new characters. And my hatred of the 3d era is more of a gameplay and character design perspective.
STATE FED LIES CHARM EMPTY EYES. Anon.
Voted Kenshi this time around, but it was a very hard choice. Both Mavado & Kenshi (as well as Nitara, Li Mei & Hsu Hao) were MKDA kharacters i just love.
I never minded Mavado having the hookswords, because stealing them from Kabal gave him backstory, as well as his own rope gimmick.
Kenshi, on the other hand has been consistently strong, telekinesis is a cool ability, and his bravado-turned-humility backstory is something of a unique turn of events for MK. I also love that he has beef with the RD in both timelines, proving his heart's good nature. Also, what's unusual is the interactions he has with the other cast. OT he allied himself with Sub-Zero, NT he allied with Scorpion, giving his own son another father-figure. Point is he is always doing interesting things, Mavado is somewhat limited in his interactions.
Kenshi is one of the best ever, and MKX did wonders to solidify him as much a klassic as any original trilogy character. He's a quintessential Mortal Kombat character. Memorable design and moveset, simple focused backstory... his concept would not have been out of place in the first MK game. Most people will agree that he's one of the better 3D era characters, and I think that him retaining such a focus on weapon kombat in the new games only helps strengthens that legacy. A remnant of some good times.
I really think he should have won last year, so I'm hoping for a better result this time.
Shao Kahn did nothing wrong
so mime CAN cry
EDIT: literally didn't spell can and said and instead
EDIT2: if that doesn't deserve a ban, nothing does

Dude looks awesome, he could've been a perfect rival for Kano, the ropes could make him into this awesome Omega Red style character, yet the move list they ACTUALLY gave him was complete ass and to top it off, they thought it'd be a great idea to give him a beloved trilogy character's weapon, all but assuring that most fans would either be indifferent to him or outright despise him.
Look I get it, Kenshi's an awesome character and he seemingly gets better with each passing game whether it's his look, his move set or his story, he's quickly become a near elite tier level of character in terms of overall value to the series.
But I honestly believe that, given the proper story background, the proper attitude and overall cool factor I think he's capable of, and an MKX level move list that takes advantage of the stuff they actually did right with him plus a lot more ideas, that Mavado's ceiling could be even higher than Kenshi's.
I honestly can't believe I'm taking potential unfulfilled over potential realized in this case, but I really consider to Mavado one of the MK Team / NRS' biggest lost opportunities in terms of characters and they still just assume he's shit for reasons passing understanding.
Love Kenshi, even if I think it might be timed or him to take a game off, but what the hell, it doesn't matter anyways... Give me Mavado.
That being said, I went with Kenshi. He's had his ups and downs, from when he was awesome in MK:DA, to when they ruined him in Deception, to when he came back better than ever in MK9, to his comparatively lackluster showing in MKX, but he's always been more of a fully-realized character than Mavado ever was.

A battle of god and champion! Fujin has stood vigilant for centuries as an ally to Earthrealm and its chief protector god Raiden. Wielding the full force of the winds, the storm god was there to fight when Netherrealm invaded by order of a fallen Elder. Goro was once one of the greatest champions of Mortal Kombat! One of the most impressive of the four-armed Shokan empire, the Prince dominated nine tournaments in the name of Outworld before first tasting defeat. His place on the Shokan throne was challenged as new forces entered Outworld after The Emperor's demise, but Goro always remains a power to be reckoned with! Will the winds blow him away, or is Goro the strongest one there is?... FIGHT!
Personality: Tie.
Design: Goro.
Finishers: Goro.
Backstory: Goro.
In a fight: Fujin, considering he's a god.
The four-armed Shokan champion winds against the wind god 4-1-1.
EDIT: Wow, I just looked back at this comment and I realized I made an unintentional pun out of a typo.
Fujin not being in MKX is a huge tragedy, considering horrid characters like Cassie and Jacqui made it into the game.
Goro doesn't need any explanation. I'd vote for him in almost any other round.
This is the toughest round so far for me. I voted Fujin. But yet again it appears my vote didn't register, with Goro having 100% of the vote...

When will people learn that votes aren't registered instantaneously...
Oh, and why do you hate Cassie and Jacqui?
Gotta go with Fujin this round.
Who do I think is a better character? Goro. He is iconic, people know who he is, he is a classic MK character and probably the most memorable of the sub bosses and probably the people remember being the hardest to beat in MK1. While Fujin really has nothing at this point. He is a wind god (Lol I get it, like Raijen and Fujin) but he hasn't done anything that memorable yet. I think he has great potential, but NRS doesn't seem to want to give him a real chance.
He's iconic...I remember encountering him for the very first time in the arcade when I was a kid, and I was terrified. Hell, he even had his own theme.
Fujin, as much as I like him, will never be as iconic to me in this series as Goro.

True story, it happened to a friend of a friend of mine... EVERYBODY!
Fujin. I wont give a long winded explaination this time... Still love Goro too though.
