Liu Kang forever!

The greatest Shaolin Monk of all time and still Mortal Kombat's ultimate hero, no matter what anybody says. Liu was, and still is, one of my favorite characters. I admit, at first it was because he was a Bruce Lee homage, but he has since beyond evolved into his own person.

Currently, I REALLY hope he'll play a much larger roll in the next MK. His storyline demotion was disappointing, considering all the plot potential in his new "evil" incarnation.

Considering the status of both characters in MKX, I'm going with the obvious choice. Liu Kang is the champ. He actually felt really fresh in MKX, too.

Voted Liu Kang. His role as ruler of the Netherrealm is not only his best design yet but his most interesting in a long time. I'm bored to death of Kung Lao due to over exposure online in both MK9 and MKX.

Moveset: Kung Lao. While I enjoy Liu Kang's bicycle kick, I REALLY enjoy playing as Kung Lao. He's on my top 15 characters in terms of gameplay.

Personality: Kung Lao. Honestly, in the new timeline, Kung Lao wasn't all that jealous, while Liu Kang was being a dick to Raiden.

Design: Kung Lao. The hat.

Finishers: KUNG LAO BY A MILE.

Backstory: Tie. Their backstories are basically the same.

In a fight: Liu Kang, obviously.

I love both characters. They both have good movies and combos. But I went with Liu Kang.

Liu Kang's had such a strange road in MK. While he's part of the biggest twist in the series, I feel like I enjoyed it more because the guy that always wins actually lost.

But after retconning that, and seeing what he's become... I dunno. I'm just not digging what they've done with him pretty much since MKD. He used to be a great hero, then he seemingly won too much, then Raiden kills him and now he's the ruler of the underworld?

Liu Kang just feels very bungled to me. Like there was a smoother, more compelling way to do all of this. He could've been scheming behind Shinnok's back; consolidating power in the background, but visible to us so that he actually felt like a significant player and not just henchmen #5. We also don't see how he and Kitana actually managed to take the Netherealm throne, just s little cutscene at the end and oh... They're King and queen.

Maybe they'll build him up in the next game. Maybe he'll have a real personality and not just be the evil final boss. As it stands though, he feels a bit like wasted potential. He's the chosen one, yet he's exceedingly evil right now and I don't feel like that means as much (to me at least) as perhaps it should.

Kung Lao on the other hand is simply potential never realized. Still, I feel like he has more going on in his personality and his backstory, I prefer his look, his move set, and while the ship has probably sailed on him being "the hero," I still feel like there's much more to be done with him than simply being Liu Kang's occasionally jealous friend.

I picked Kung Lao, even though I really hope that both characters get more to do and more personality in the next game.

I chose Kung Lao. Screw Liu Kang.

Among the traditional "asian good guys", Kung Lao has always been my favorite,followed by Raiden, then ultimately Liu Kang. Just always liked his design more.

This is a tight match with both great yet underrated villains. I'm going for my friend Mr. Shang Tsung.

Personality: Shang Tsung. I'm not too fond of Sektor.

Design: Shang Tsung. Sektor's design is bland to me.

Finishers: Shang Tsung, by an inch.

Backstory: Neither.

In a fight: Shang Tsung, barely any doubt of it.

Shang Tsung

Totally Sektor, his evil is cold and absolute, as well as the fact that he has friggin' rockets. Shang is a great villain, but badly treated story-wise this time around. Sektor has very little by way of motivation, but that's why he's so single-minded.

Loved seeing his human form in MK9, really gave him and Cyrax more depth.

Shang Tsung.

I really missed Shang Tsung in MKX. Quan Chi just doesn't do it for me.

I agree. Shang Tsung is the one and only true sorcerer in the MK universe. I hope he returns in MK11.

Maybe if somebody would have defragged Sektor before this round he would have performed better

Shang Tsung has been one of my favorites from the beginning. Here's hoping for a glorious return for MK11 after his shit exit from MK9.

P.S. Mick, if you decide to read this, you made a mistake in the percentage progress. It says that Kung Lao defeated Sektor, when he actually defeated Liu Kang. Just trying to help you out, mate.

This. Favorite "boss" villain of the entire series. I can't wait until they write him back into the mix.

Fingers crossed for Ermac's ending to be canon. Imo, it's the absolute perfect means for him. All those souls, all that power.

love Sektor but I love Tsung more, going with him. I was really hoping he was gonna be in MKX :/

Shang Tsung is and always will be my favorite MK villain, even if he has taken a back seat and become a lesser, minor threat in recent years. One of my good buddies who was a part of this community when it first fired up shares my sentiments with the character, as part of his handle was "Shang". I doubt any of the people currently on MKO remember him, he's voluntarily refused to be a part of the MK community for quite a few years, but he's as active as ever in the games. We've talked about Shang a lot since his shitty treatment in MKDA/MKD and his even shittier treatment in MK9.

With so many hints in the arcade ladder endings towards Shang's return in MK11, I really do hope they deliver upon this. I wouldn't be surprised if Shang comes waltzing in with "Goddess Jade" at his side...I feel like Shang's absence since being fused to Sindel has maybe shot him into the "Dream Realm", if they're actually using that as a serious thing, rather than the BS with Tremor and Freddy's endings.

Shang, hands down. LOVE Sektor, but Shang all the way.
