Since I'm an MK veteran, my viewpoint is obviously biased. "Experts" could say that I've grown somewhat "desensitized" to all the violence and stuff depicted in the MK games. I'm just used to them I guess. The point made by ThePredator 151 about the "Little Timmys" out there being tempted by the game to go shoot someone is a legitimate argument. As big an advocate as I am for parents to be better about keeping games like this from their hands, you still have many out there that are too preoccupied with just trying to get by to really keep an eye on everything their child/children does/do. Therefore, I guess I CAN understand why this has been done...but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

I liked the whole speargun suggestion that was made. That could be a suitable solution. I was actually thinking of a change in camera perspective instantly after the Joker draws the real gun to behind the opponent, so you only hear the shot ring out, the person fall over with the Joker revealed pointing the gun in the direction where the opponent stood, seeing a flash of blood, and having the opponent fall over. Still somewhat the same, but at least you don't technically see Joker fire the gun...you only hear it and witness what he just accomplished by firing.

But hey, like ThePredator 151 mentioned, the release date is drawing near. If the screen going black is all the team can do between now and then, so be it. I honestly wouldn't mind a slight delay in order for the fatality to be addressed properly, but I guess a delay isn't an option. Oh well...nothing I can do about it. I'll still try and get a hold of the game somehow.

The team really shouldn't have to do anything. I know I've said this a million times before, but I'll say it a million times again: Uncharted, Uncharted, Uncharted.

ESRB are assholes. Naughty Dog has this history of making Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot games, so ESRB goes, "Well, this is acceptable amount of violence and wearing for a T-Rated Game."
But with Mortal Kombat, just because it's got this 'controversial history', they choose put such a tight leash and be picky about every little tiny thing.

Video Games are suffering from the same censorship plague that's going on in the music industry right now.
You watch a rap video, and they blank out every other word. Fuck, shit, bitch, drugs, kill, gun, everything that could POSSIBLY be considered with something violent or sexual, just because it's rap.
But then you watch a pop video, made by Pink, or whatever other 'diva', and they let them get away with shit, bitch. Rock songs get away with weapon references.

This is why I'm severely against censorship.

ok i've had enough of expressing my opinions of how i feel about the toning down of the fatalities. i would like to solve this problem somehow.
this is to esrb, if you could somehow let midway make the two copies of the game, one with the t rating and the other with the mature rating. its obvious that both versions of the game will sell equally. i mean i tried to express how i felt about it, but it seems i always had replies on how i was wrong and this is still gonna be a great game. so why not just do that? that way both parties can be happy for the diehard mk adult fans like me, and the young newcomer soon to be fans like them. why not please both parties and double the money? trust me you'll make a bundle!

i want to see just how many mk specific diehard fans are out there this is strictly just to see exactly how many mk or dc fans we have out there. i would like to have a contest kind of like an online versing game without playable characters. more like typing messages! mk fans vs dc fans! how loyal are you? type as many messages as you can, putting down the toning of fatalities or either praising them! lets see who will win!!!!

Am I the only person who doesn't care? Gameplay is more important than this overdone arbitrary crap. Yes Fatalities are what made MK famous (and infamous) in the early days, but are they what MK needs to be famous for NOW? I don't think so. This franchise needs to be a solid well rounded fighting game not mindless torture porn like Manhunt.

GOOD GOD! It took 5 damn pages, but it finally happened, an online petition. Not to be mean, but I hate online petitions(the lazy man's petition) with all my heart.....i guess that's not your fault though, so don't think i'm trying to single you out and insult you or anything.

Anyway, THE GAME IS DONE! In case anyone missed it, please refer to MKO's front page, watch the video, and hear with bated breath as Ed Boon says that the work is DONE! They've turned the game into Microsoft and Sony for approvals(before everyone starts screaming, that's not content approvals, that's spec approvals/requirements). The rating is in, the changes are made.

Am I happy the gore is toned back, no, not really. But what people seem to be forgetting is the fact that Midway has had the gore to rely selling the game on for years(thus yielding such unwanted results as Armageddon). They don't have that right now....It forced them to make a better game. As it stands now, it looks like they've made a step in the right direction. The game looks like a ton of fun without the gore. Hell, if they timed the cut to black properly, and with the right gun shot sound effect, The Joker's fatality could be funnier/more meaningful then it was to actually see the gun shot inflicted on the charactar. Or it could lead to another classic Sub Zero fade to black and leave everyone in a kind of WTF type moment.

I guess in the midst of this ramble, my general message would be, play(see: rent) before you judge. If it's as bad as you thought it'd be with less blood, then pray for a "pure" MK9.

As I've said before I feel sorry for people in general who buy MK only for fatalities.These are the fans that have also let MK get away with terrible gameplay over the last 10 years and you apparently are one those fans so thank you for craptastic games and the overall decline in quality over the years..

yep, just another reason not to buy this game. Not that MK is all fatalities, it's bad gameplay and DC characters too. Though in all the crap prior it was Joker's fatality that made me rethink on actually trying this game. Shot to hell now, isn't it? EPIC FAIL.

Sounds like something a Sell out does. They take whatever Boon gives them even if it turns into MK: Hugging in Kandy Land, rated EC {early childhood}.
