Well,versatile i do agree with wat u said with kage most of his moves cant make a great combo that is broken but karate and nunchaks may have a problem unless they add better combos since his best combos on his weapon was 1,1,1,1 or 1,1,3,3 ,they did 12-14 dmg so its looking ugly.
He might be better if he gets some combo adds.Besides that,he is looking pretty shitty.. Sindel is not looking great....Mostly all her stuff is pretty slow her style is slow and her weapon is the same basically. Whats reptiles styles? Mileena,however is pretty good but not broken..

This game looks amazing, and I don't think Sub or Frost are broken.The clone didn't seem nearly as bad as the cloud in Deception.

Frost looks like a high tier seriously with that ice puddle back and her slide combined with her regular freeze AND a teleport lol.

Cyrax better get back his Net that's all I gotta say, Cyrax needs the net and possibly his teleport back.I've noticed that everyone that's ever had a teleport has had it back from MK:A gameplay vids so far.

Dave, yes throw escapes work on all throws regular throws and in air throws.I don't think there's any Dairou vids yet of actual gameplay, at least that I know of.I know there's on with him but the guy went to the move list and did nothing.
Does anyone know if there are any Darrius gameplay vids?I MUST know if he has his spinny kick move, because if he does that's a great sign for me hehe.Lets just say I have my reasons.

mkf, frost is definitly the best ive seen so far, its gonna be tough to beat her, i recommend everyone add her to your game, she will be "broke" so to speak. and better than sub

Jump over pillar or blast and sub eats a foot to the face, just be cautious of the clone.

And Frost is definitely good.Too good maybe.That low sliding kick (which I assume is one of her special moves) seems way too fast.I don't think you could low block that on reaction.I guess you could have an easy 50/50 mix up with that sliding kick, a mid move, and her throw if you can keep your opponent in lock. Plus,that ice move seems like a Puke Puddle,which we all know is great for simple turtling.This is just a theory of course.

She was already one of my best on DA so I'm looking forward to using her again. I just wish she had Yuan Yang instead of Tong Bei.



If her Freeze is like on DA, it'll be blocked low. If it were unblockable she'd be broken. Unlike the puddle, it travels along the ground. It's good for allowing you to escape and was brilliant on DA combined with her retreat move. Jade should be able to walk through it though.

I'm going to miss her Frostbitten combo.

To Versatile: Do you think aside from those who stay on the ground that Sub-Zero will be able to get various free Icy Pillars? I mean, like I said, the Icy Pillar is blockable according to mastermalone. However, if Sub-Zero can get free Icy Pillars, he's really going to be good.

Btw, yes, I had already thought of possibilities of mind games regarding the Ice Puddle and Ground Freeze. You know...I would've liked it if Sub-Zero had the Ice Puddle along with his other moves while Frost gets another move in exchange for that. Then again, that might make Sub-Zero too good...

To hjs-Q: Kira has Yuan Yang, not Ying Yeung. I doubt she's going to keep it, but currently, she might be decent.

Yeah, I saw it. It's good to know (and not surprising) that he has Tai Chi Chuan and Katana again. I wouldn't quite say they left him completely the same. It seems like B + 2 has some launcher-ish attributes to it though it doesn't seem to lead to juggle hits since it pushes the opponent away along with launching him/her into the air.



His current styles are Shorin Ryu, an Okinawan style of Karate, and Nunchaku, an Okinawan flail weapon.

Cage not being able to make a great combo doesn't make him broken.

Reptile's current styles are Pao Chui (Cannon Fist) and Kirehashi (his MKDA blade sword-type weapon).

Mileena is pretty damn good thanks to Mian Chuan. As for her not being broken, I wouldn't quite say that, but she won't be as bad as some others, that's for sure...

To mkflegend: I too am hoping for Cyrax to get his Energy Net back. I think he really needs it, especially if they give him a style that's both unfitting and crappy like "Ninjitsu". I hope they'll at least tone it up along with his Pulse Blade.

To Check: Zha Chuan seems pretty bad to me. I mean, it only has 2 mids, one of which is useful (B + 1). Other than that, it lacks good lows and has crappy combo mixups.

If I'm not mistaken, throws played an important part in MKD's gameplay. I doubt the same will hold true (as much) for MKA, but it would still be nice for Sindel to have a good throw.

To tgrant: Like I've said before, I would've liked her with both Tong Bei and Yuan Yang. I mean, she really doesn't need those Daggers of hers, especially since they seem to be crap anyway.

b1 does suck, horribly, but for counters, it does the most damage and will lead to 50% combos probably.

the truth is her lack of lows, i can only hope they payed that much attention to the importance of lows in the game.

tgrant, i really dont remember MKDA too well, i do remember she was one of my earliy weaknesses but i was able to conquer, same as shang. i would imagine both not being any different, but from what i saw, she looks good, not in a fighting sense, in a broken sense. but if she is any different than she was in MKDA, she will be a walk in the park no offense.

she had a freeze ball too, correct? but as m2dave said, if her freeze puddle works any way like bos puke ( tough to sidestep at close range ), well, dave is the master of the puke and he can destroy my dairou with that move alone., her slide is the last thing im worried about. espicially when it comes to blocking.

oh i forgot to mention one little thing, i dont know if this combo was blockable like that in mkd but sindels 444, quan chi was able to block the combo after the second 4, could this have been the combo blocker weve been hearing about? if so, it exists in mkd in a few moves off my head.

2) Kiras 444 kick in her weapon stance ( might be the answer right there )
3) couple of combos online, lol ( lag ) 222cs/3/1/etc in tai chi or 113cs in jujutsu

cant think of any others offline off the top of my head. but she definitly looked in range for that 3rd 4 in 444, thats why i question it.

I hope they can work on her lows and combos and such for Zha Chuan. Why there's only one simultaenous hand/foot technique baffles me. In fact, Mi Tzu should have one too since it's supposed to be a lot like Zha Chuan, but that's for a different topic....

Free throw off a wake up move with her? Hmm, I didn't notice. Anyway, I also noticed that Quan Chi blocked the second 4. If that's the combo blocker, why the hell would we need combo breakers? I mean, wouldn't that basically change the combos from chains to strings or am I barking up the wrong tree? (note: Don't ask me why I used those words.)

About Frost, I don't recall her having the Freeze Ball. As far as I know, she only has 4 specials, which are her Icy Slide, Ground Freeze, Ice Puddle, and Teleport Uppercut.

I'm looking on the youtube video with Sub-Zero and Chameleon.

What was it that Sub-Zero did to Chameleon around :50 seconds? It looked like he did a double freeze.

That icy pillar is freaking fast though.

it wasnt a double freeze. his new throw freezes the opponent.

i think it should freeze you if the guy is already frozen..much like a regular freeze would.

If Universal Tracking is gone, which is probably what's going to happen it will totaly change the game.

Midway said some moves will track. imo they mean moves with down and up will track.

This will totaly change moves like Scorp's f+1 Chameleon 2 etc.....
Sidestepping is really fast in MKD.


Maybe this will make MKA more of a jabbing, pokeing game?

If universal tracking is gone I think we are going to see a lot more poking. Combos won't be relied upon so much unless they are started on an opponent in a stunned and prone state (Sindel's scream, Scorpion's spear, etc). It seems this game is going to be a throwback to the oldschool type of gaming with a lot of jump kicking, poking, and special powers reigning supreme. Combos will come into play when, as I said, a person is caught in a special move or is left wide open and you want to go for the big damage.
This style of play is quicker, more intense, and a lot more fun for me. I personally cannot wait to open this sucker up and see what it can do.
It IS going to be odd though. I think there are more counter style moves in this game than there have been in any MK game ever.
Side step to avoid combos
Parry to avoid poking
Throw escape to get out of a throw
Combo breaker for the instance you do get caught in a combo

I am curious though...does anyone know if they got rid of that auto recover trick (the down/back down/forward to get up and attack real fast)? If they did, maybe Sindel's throw won't be so bad. She can at least block a retaliation. However, with the faster gameplay, it may not matter anyway...I don't know...

Wow. they really improved his MKDA throw. If you watch, after he does it it's like he glides back very fast . This will allow him to avoid any wake up attacks easily. His DA version of the throw left him alot closer.

I have been hearing ppl say that Subzero's can be used up close now instead of it not working up close.

I just want to say that it is false. Look at this video and stop it at 26 secs. You clearly see him try it up close and it fails.

How do you guys know there's a throw escape? Has there been a video with a throw escape in it or was it said in an interview a long time ago (and thus could be gone now)?

I was the guy who delivered the "goods" to the MK Team at this years E3. Said "goods" contained fabulous videos made by danadbad which featured a culmination of glitches found by various members of this forum; the other part was written documentation explaining how to fix these problems. The videos contained the cause and their effect on the game (i.e infinte, free throw, OTG etc.) I wrote up an entire document explaining in detail every one of the gamplay problems such as the infinites, the free throws, 50/50's etc, and how to remedy them.

I basically wrote up ways for the team to create MK:A's wake up game including throw escapes. I also had everyone who gave a damn from this forum submit gameplay requests in a thread that I copied and pasted to a word document. When I went to E3, I gave the Team the "Goods" and explained what they were and why we were giving them this free gamer feedback. I spoke to every MK Team member including Ed Boon himself and explained to them verbally what the problems were and why the remedies were needed.

I also gave them a demonstration on MKA itself as to how said glitches worked (they didn't work on the E3 demo, but they got the idea). To my suprise, the Team knew about most of the bugs and had already fixed them. I was told by Ed Boon that they were going to implement "get up attacks", but what type they had in mind is unknown. The wake ups I see in the new MKA demo look like the team scrupulously read every requst that was on the written documentation.

But to answer your question, I was told by the gameplay designer, ( a very savy Cvs2 player and fan) that he was implementing throw escapes that required a 7 frame input after being thrown to be effective. It was confirmed by our German friends at MKU that the throw escape is performed simply by pressing throw at the moment you are being thrown, just like any other throw escape feature. I hope this helps.
