Okay. Switch Kano's eye laser from a move to a fatality.
In MK 9 his fatalities are nothing but heart rips.
Instead, how about the first fatality as a heart rip, while his second fatality can involve his knives & eye laser.

Regardless, I say yes.

Considering Raiden's rising desperation to protect Earthrealm - he already got on his knees for Quan Chi - it is likely Kano himself would take advantage of the situation.
I could easily imagine him offering his aid to the Forces of Light for a steep price. Jarek wasn't nearly as cunning to do that, but Kano is.
I'd love to see Kano help them only for a moment, then stab them all in the back for his own benefit. It'll make a nice inclusion for him in MK10. Hell, at this point, anything goes.

I was just noting the irony in that, but it would be interesting if Kano did that only to backstab them in the end.

Honestly, I don't really care much to see Kano return in the next game, but it is possible that he can come back. In terms of gameplay, I do like some things about how he played in MK9. I felt they did a good job capturing his moveset though I do like the knife slash from MK3-MKT.
Someone mentioned about his fatalities, and the truth is, a character like Kano could have some really nasty fatalities. I think that it has to do with the overall feel of the fatalities in MK9 that is kind of lackluster. This isn't to say that there aren't good fatalities, because there are a few that I like. But yeah, that probably just gets into a whole other rant.
Anyway, about story development, there is something of a possible issue in that Kano could easily remain that type of villain that sticks around the big bad only to (at least attempt to) backstab him/her. At least with Jarek, he kind of saw the bigger picture by siding with long-time enemies to fight off a bigger enemy.

Yes to Kano.
I'm not the biggest fan of him, but the Sonya and Kano subplot never got resolved in 9, it was just forgotten after the first tournament.
So he damned well better come back at least long enough that they can actually finish that shit.

So, should he take Jarek's place in getting dropped off a cliff, then? Actually, now that I think about it, what is up with the Black Dragon and getting chucked off of high places?

They BETTER bring back his eye laser as a move!
Plus, I better see Kano die at the end of the game. Let the Red Dragon take over.

Another vote for Kano's return.

Why were they even on that cliff?
What happened to Kano in 3 made sense, the rooftop is a stage in the game, in the city where the invasion is taking place. Fights occurred there, why wouldn't somebody be tossed off?
But there's no reason to be standing on the edge of a plain lookin' empty cliff in the middle of goddamn nowhere wilderness of Earthrealm in MK4.

I've no idea why they were on that cliff either, other than very shitty writing.

If Kano appears in the next game, it should be last game when he dies by Sonya's hands.

i feel like the main problem i have with Kano isn't shitty writing but poor move execution. In MKvsDC it was right, then for MK9 they fucked it up.
Kano Ball (horizontal): b,f,4 is much better than f,d,b,f
Eye Laser : a fast but limited distance projectile signature move that was completely omitted for no reason?!?!
Parry : a small throwback to MKDA where he and a few other grappler characters had parries. Could be chained off combos and the Brutal Throw as a combo ender gone for no discernible reason.
I'd prefer for him to sit this one out hiding underground until the opportunity to rejoin Outworld's evil alliance returns, so i'm going with a NO this time.

Meh, I like rotating the stick way better than any other input for the ball, I can do it in an instant from any position.

I'd rather it be a fatality.
Kano is in.

Next up is Kenshi
Granted that the purpose of Kenshi to be here is because of Shang Tsung, and since Shang Tsung is dead... well, what else is there for him to do? I guess I can see him being recruited by Sonya and Cage to help fight against the undead warriors from the Netherrealm. So there is a possibility to see this guy return for the next game. I say yes.

Yes.
Given his popularity and being one of the better Post MK3 characters they'd be stupid not to put him in.

Hell yeah to Kenshi.

Obviously Kenshi.
Besides, let Shang Tsung return in MK11. That'll give Kenshi the more motivation, not only to kill him but also to protect Earthrealm and others from evil.
Maybe he can take Liu Kang's place if possible. I can see him as MK's Daredevil. Ben Afleck style.

Kenshi yes obv.
U should do characters like Kobra and Shujinko. Not people like Kenshi. That's an order.

Dude, seriously. Don't pull this crap again.
See, here's the problem that I have with this character. Despite that I said I would like to see him return, some people here think that he HAS to appear only if Shang Tsung is around. I get that is how his character was first introduced to us, that he was heading after Shang Tsung and that. But no one gets that characters CAN be re-written. They don't HAVE to have the same exact story to appear.
We don't know what happened to Shang Tsung. He was not present when we saw who was undead. But why should Shang Tsung's fate make a difference for this character? And I'm not saying to anyone in particular, this is just what I've been seeing every now and then. That Kenshi HAS to fight against Shang Tsung in order to be present in the next game or any other future game, which I find really silly if that is how it's meant to be with him.
Shang Tsung doesn't have to be the only character this guy needs to be an enemy with.

I say "yes" to Kenshi. As for his story, it can actually be very easy to do. Although Kenshi was after Shang Tsung in the old timeline, he was attacked and badly injured by Mavado. Mavado is from the Red Dragon clan, which is led by Daegon. Daegon is allied with Shinnok, and since Shinnok will most likely be the main villain of the next game's story, Kenshi could easily have Mavado as one of his main enemies. It also gives connection for Kenshi to be aligned with the remaining heroes.

But Kenshi's already appeared. The DLC characters in MK9 were canon (except Freddy, obviously), Skarlet even appeared in Story Mode. He had a bio, so his canon is set. His origin is still that he's trying to free the stolen souls of his ancestors.
Last we knew, Tsung had those souls. Then Sindel got them when she got all of Tsung's power. Then Sindel died but there was no big burst of freed souls flying away in the sky like usually happens when a soul stealer dies.
Now? Maybe Quan Chi/Shinnok got them when Sindel died? That would be ideal since it would keep him motivated to join the coming fight against Quan and Shinnok.
Or maybe they were set free and he's open to do whatever he feels like? But being free to do whatever you feel like is a poor motivation to fight the badguys. A person who joins Team Raiden solely because he's a nice guy or because he doesn't want his home to be conquered, and has no other personal problems or journey of his own to go on, is a boring character that cannot develop.
