Yeah I think they prefaced the brutalities with saying that there'd be requirements you'd have to meet to pull them off so I don't think they'll be these moves that you'll just pull out of your ass at the end of a combo every match.

Really I don't think anyone was looking for a 500 hit combo or for thirty or so skulls to go flying around the arena but I was expecting them to be a lot more brutal. Now some we've seen are great, Quan Chi with that portal for example but a lot of them seem like MK9 style cut something off fatalities. Which isn't bad especially if you're like me and you like the quick and dirty finisher. But I'm still confused on why they chose to call these brutalities.

I was expecting an unrestrained beat down that left the opponent a barely recognizable mess or something that made me kind of wince or something...I don't know brutal. The thing with the most brutality in this game thus far is the X-Rays.

These are good it's just not what people were expecting given the name and the hype. Tournament play will be exciting though, I imagine peoples pride will be on the line.

All it takes is to meet the hidden requirements, like Friendships and Babalities, and finish the opponent with a special move. Done.

The only similarities they shared is just the name alone.
And this is why you're comparing them, and THAT is dumb.
So to say that the 2015 Brutality is better than the 90's is like comparing Heath Ledger Joker vs Jack Nicholson.

Brutality separated itself from Fatality just like Friendships, Babalities and Animalities. They all had it's own style that separates itself from the rest.

What was shown here was a simple borderline variation of Fatality.

So yeah, fuck us for thinking Brutality was going to be what was stapled into our heads for many years.

but bruh, the only difference is Brutalities in MKT had to be performed after "Finish Him" was displayed on the screen. These brutalities still have requirements. Really, the only difference (besides the explosion) is that brutalities can now be performed before the announcer chimes in.

No sir, I've been playing my entire life and I've always hated Brutalities because they were lazy. Copy and pasted nonsense with no real payoff. Obviously they are significantly different but the comparison is apt and inevitable just on the naming alone. I didn't say combos were necessary, but we have no idea what the stipulations are to perform them yet, but you could execute them after after a combo is you so choose. A huge combo into someone exploding is also a fatality, just a more boring one.
