Mhm. Just brutalities, exactly as I predicted (with a Cassie variation lead-in as a bonus).
That said.....eh. I didn't expect them to be like Trilogy in every single way, but I did expect them to be different than what they turned out to be. I pretty much thought they'd be a stylized beatdown made all the more wince-inducing with the new gore tech.
But this whole special-move finisher thing works. They're essentially lesser Fatalities without the fancy camera work, and I can see them being used on people who like to rage quit as soon as "Finish Him/Her" pops.
An interesting idea, but I'd probably only do them if I were fishing for more faction XP, depending upon the requirements.

OMG I CAN NOW NUTPUNCH TO A BRUTALITY!!!
lol i always do that move when johnny cage, instead of doing an actual fatality.
and these Brutalities i think will flow nice in actual gameplay versus watching it and be an "oh shit" moment compared to the predictable fatality.

And I hit it right on the head with my idea of brutalities... Damn I wish I can find the thread that I posted it in so I could find the proof b/c I know for damn sure that y'all think I'm lying....
But I basically said how it would be unique if brutalities started with a combo specific to that characters variation and ended with something unique to that character..
And the way you perform them are beautiful.... I could have literally made a baby with my ol lady off that brutality stream.

I would prefer them to be more cinematic with a 20 + hit combo but they are still awesome!
That aren't BRUTALITIES they are QUICKALITIES!!!!
It fucks over the Rage Quitters!

^ no, I love how simple they are.
I also love that the camera angle doesn't change. It reminds me of the trilogy era fatalities(..tears drops).

I was actually hoping for animalities, as in background creatures getting involved.
I didn't want the old brutalities back but these are awesome. Over a hundred?! Love it.
Love the nods to classic fatalities.
I'm even more pumped to get this game now; did not think it possible.
As a cheap bastard, I never buy games day one. MK has always been the exception.

That would be fucking stupid
I was expecting QTEs increasing in speed and difficulty, culminating in some gory end to the opponent haha. Needless to say, I'm definitely bowled over.
I actually dropped by the stream for a quick minute before hurrying out of the house, just to see if I could catch a glimpse, and what I saw was Quan Chi fighting Raiden, then all of a sudden being showered with blood and somehow winning the fight. So my first impression of Brutalities was "What the flying fuck did I just see? Like, did the video skip or something?" It was only later on that I found the Brutality trailer on my phone and fully understood what they were.
I like them. I like that they aren't proper Finishers, but something related to actual gameplay, the actual fight. Fatalities eventually wore out their welcome, especially online; you were taught to always expect it, and you knew that people expected you to always do it. That we now have more ways of ending the fight with flash is a beautiful thing.
I like also that there are various per character. I like that they're sudden and surprising and inescapable. And though I'm not that into Cassie, I love her Takedown Brutality (They nonsensically stole my Sonya Fatality idea! )
Don't you guys go around trying to do this all the time online to prevent rage-quitting, though. I imagine it would eventually feel like cheating yourself out of experiencing the actual fight, if you're worried about how many times you're pressing down (they did that a lot) or not blocking or what hits you're using when. In fact, for this reason, I hope a good number of the Brutalities will sometimes activate by happenstance, in a scenario where, at the end of the fight, you'll be able to say, "Well, I wasn't planning on it, but here you go!"

I'm torn on these Brutalities. On one hand, they offer a lot of fighting variety, but on the other hand, they kinda take away from fatalities, which are now more cinematic kills, really. Like Ferra/Torr split their victim in half in their fatality but then Ermac does the same in his brutality and I assume many other characters, so it's kind of pointless.
Also, one of the stream guys totally sounds like Seth Rogen.
