I like them, but I wouldn't call them "Brutalities". I guess "Classic Fatality" doesn't roll off the tongue so easy?

What was Cassie's and Scorpions dialogue? Anyone remember?

Cassie: scorpion.
Scorpion: you'll meet your end.
Cassie: you're not getting anywhere near my end
Something like that. I think she meant her BUTT.

I actually like a lot of the Brutalites more than I do the Fatalities! They aren't completely over done like a lot of the fatalities... where some one gets their head cut off, then guts pulled out, then explode... Sometimes simple is much better!

Just watched the trailer. Brutalities are kinda pointless. All they really are is shorter versions of a fatility. Mk3's were much better and actually worth doing. With these you might as well do a fatality and call it a match.

People seriously thought the Brutalities would require long ass comb strings like in Trilogy?

No, seriously, that's what people were clamoring for? A long, lazy-ass dial-a-combo? Fuck that noise.
Can you imagine how much fun it's going to be to look for all of those 100+ brutalities and playing around with the special conditions and the variations and stuff? Shit's gonna be the hypest!
Not good when the only thing that got me hyped during the entire stream was the reveal of the new Kotal Kahn statue background. That, and the neat double-spin kick Ermac did in the air. Raiden's Brutality was a throw-back to one of his earlier fatalities, and I liked Quan Chi's Brutality. Some were just outright boring, or dumb, while most others shown were just watered-down fatalities.
Not sure what to feel about Brutalities until more is known about them. As is, this is was a very meh stream. Sure hope their notation that there will be character reveals very soon because it is never good for a fan, and potential future purchaser of your product, to feel less hype after a meh stream.

Give it time. I feel like your reaction is out of nostalgia. What we saw today is certainly more fitting of the "brutality" moniker than the 7 skulls, 12 arms, 19 legs, and 48 rib cages of the past.

Kind of like Babalities and Friendships back in the day.

That's fair, and as long as you can only do them when opponent is near death/end of the round, I'm ok with them.

I never really liked the Brutalities before, however these look awesome. They are like a fatality you preform yourself instead of putting in a code after the fight is over. I get why some people are disappointed they are not what brutalities were before, but I would rather have over a 100 unique character fitting match enders than 1 animation everyone does that is just a bunch of hits.
You know, I don't mind this incarnation of brutalities... I was in the camp of people who didn't really care much for the "combo then boom" style from MKT and the console versions of UMK3.
And the fact that they're character specific AND every character has multiple possibilities (over 100 total, as confirmed by Boon), gives it much more replayability.
As for not ripping off KI's ultras, I'd say their only similarity comes from that it basically starts near the end of the match and goes on, rather than waiting for a "finish him" screen.
But yeah, I'm very curious about what the requirements are in order to pull them off...

The brutalities are shorter than I expected but I really enjoy the immediacy of them, no finish him, no warning just a surprise finisher. Overall great stream. I dug that they finally showed off Cassie's variations, and they're still tweaking stuff, her hands no longer glow green in Brawler, she has some yellow accents around her wrists and shins.
I'm thinking this big reveal has got to be a story mode trailer. Send your prayers for Daddy Cage's reveal.

If they didn't build it up with the name Brutalities and that audio tease, I would've loved these. How you can call things something when in the past it was the total opposite? These are very slow finishers as opposed to the wild, fast ones from UMK3...
So how does this match with what they saw in the finishers list? They saw like 3 or 4 and we've already seen 2 from Scorpion so my guess is 2 per character with the 26-28 characters that we will probably get?

D'Vorah's was probably my favorite, but Raiden is a close second.
I'd say I know who found those Ultimate Combos the Killer Instinct series dropped.
But I'm liking these, specifically how they seem very fluid and natural; that's how people should be dying in matches like this; right away with one successful sword swing, etc. They look really seamless; a quick, messy end to a fight.

Oh definitely. I don't down right hate these at all. It's just weird seeing these being called Brutalities when there aren't 50 skulls blown away. I really do like these. they're short and to the point like you told me earlier, which I pretty much did with Kano in MK9 (EX choke for the finish lel).

They made it super clear that Brutalities DO NOT add more damage to a combo, it simply makes the last hit really count.
