Don't give me that. All of us ALWAYS knew that MK vs DCU was a ONE TIME, non-canon thing. There was NEVER a danger that they might never make another regular or M-rated MK game again. That would NOT be the case here if this thing were the next game. Instead of ever going back and making a sequel to Armageddon, they'd probably just keep on with MK as a Crime Drama.

ttony the tiger you might be jumping to conclusions. dude how off of that video do you think that the game is going to be sooooooooo not mk like. what makes you think that its not going to be based off its roots. Of coarse it looks like csi the video is about jax and sonya. they are in the special forces. and how do you know the tournament isnt still going to take place in outworld? i understand that you might think its an underground tournament taking place in some subway somewhere but jax doenst know shit about outworld at this point. and scorpion sure did look dead to me! they all know he killed subzero. ummmmmm lets see...i cant explain the baraka and reptile situation other than the mk team doesnt want to take the story in that direction again with all these diff races from other realms. atleast were getting reptile and baraka.

He edited that out pretty quickly. I took a screenshot to laugh at forever though, just in case.

Yeah, and who's saying this wouldn't be? If MK can do a crossover with Superman and Wonder Woman and the like, why not do a one-off realistic game as well, like the one-off's Shaolin Monks, Special Forces or Mythologies.

Different DOES mean bad when you only get ONE MK product every several years. What if this became the new direction of the franchise permanently? Batman fans who don't like Dark Knight at least still get to read Batman comics where he's wearing the same gray and blue as always and Joker's still a guy who fell in a vat and got his skin and hair permanently turned white and green.

What would those of us who love Outworld and fireballs get if MK was god damned CSI: Chinatown starring Jax forever?

This is not a crime drama, shows how much you know.

Jax and Sonya Blade are not going to be going around trying to hunt down the killers and arrest them, Scorpion is going to get into the tournament and fuck shit up.

Well it sounds like they've "reimagined" Baraka and Reptile to be less magical and supernatural in nature. Right down to Reptile's head eat fatality becoming his M.O. as a serial killer. It stands to reason if they did that for those two that would carry over to the rest of the cast. Scorpion could very well just be blind.

A one off? Fine. I really don't mind experimentation. But it's just not the change I was particularly looking for.
You guys will never be happy. If you don't like it, fine. But how about give me a few reasons why you hate it? Is it because you're a old school fan who wants a 2D game? Lulz. I think some people had it in their head they would hate it. Just give it a chance...

How can anybody have had it in their head that they were going to hate it when it came completely out of left field? confused And we've been giving reasons why this whole time. "It isn't MK" is pretty much reason #1.

But I'll admit that if this movie does get made and does turn out to be good I'll like it. But I'll like it as a good Elseworlds, different from the main continuity.

But, Gar, in every one of those versions of Batman, the main character is a rich playboy by day and dresses in a bat costume at night to go fight crime. The core components are all there even if the tone and details are different among all the different versions.

This is more like the Catwoman movie which changes pretty much everything that can be changed.

If this movie gets made it might be categorically better than Catwoman, in fact it probably will be. But it's as much MK as Catwoman is...Catwoman.

Batman has had it's fair share of dramatic and lasting changes.

Before Bruce Timm and Paul Dini's cartoon version of Mr. Freeze came along, Mr. Freeze was a campy, silly, goofy villain with a cold theme. The changes made to him for the cartoon series turned him into a tragic, sympathetic, and vastly more interesting character. Joker himself has been through various origins, as a failed comedian and low-profile crook called the Red Hood, to mobster Jack Napier (in the Tim Burton and cartoon series), to the dirty and dingy "agent of chaos" in the new films, amongst others.

While Batman has always been a "playboy" by day and "vigilante" by night, even other major heroes have had their lives dramatically changed.

Marvel's "Ultimate" series totally rebooted characters in entirely different ways, changing their backgrounds, races, and even genders, while keeping the spirit of the characters intact.

They're different interpretations on classic characters, very different from their predecessors, yet similar in all the ways that COUNT.

For this, I still see Reptile looking ugly, ripping off and eating heads. I still see Baraka with fangs, arm blades, and performing decapitations. I still see Shang Tsung as an Asian mastermind organization a death tournament involving killers and heroes.

Games like Twisted Metal, Metroid Prime, Red Steel 2, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker endured significant aesthetic, gameplay, and story changes, but were well received, and I see no reason why we can't be open to MK following in that path.

Am I skeptical? Sure. But am I open to a new direction? Sure.

Hell people maybe this is even fake... who knows. Or maybe it is just a teaser for the game but has nothing to do with the game.

What in the fuck? Blindness does not make your pupil and iris disappear.
"It isn't MK"? LMAO! So sorry every MK game can't be the same like the DBZ games. lol.

No but it apparently does in movieland. Look at the Blind Swordsman movies. I've seen my fair share of movies where blind characters are given really faint pupils and irises. Call it movie logic if you want.

I would like to point out that you have a Septalogy of fighting games in canonical-order, two spin-off but canonically (more or less) acceptable games.
I think that is more than sufficient for nostalgia or re-exploration.

I would find it absolutely astonishing that this movie is trying so hard to take a realistic direction that they can't figure out that blindness does not equate to absence of pupils and irises.

Well they're clearly not being SUPER realistic because the disease Reptile is supposed to have is a real disease and does end up causing death within 2 weeks. And there's an entire trope about this. Coconut logic. People are so used to seeing fuzzy brown coconuts in movies that when they see a real coconut as it hangs from the tree they don't recognize it as such. So movies often use the brown fuzzy version to avoid confusion even though it's not completely accurate.

I'm not interested in any nostalgia, I want to know what happens NEXT to the characters I'm emotionally invested in. Characters who happen to wear bright, primary color ninja robes and can cast magical spells.

Yeah but it wouldn't make any sense to have Scorpion blind, That's Kenshi's shit.

You're emotionally invested in that mess of a storyline? The characters are sounding way more fleshed out in this 7 minute promo than they ever have in every single MK game to date.
