Of course I'll let it be, but I just think it's funny how there are still complaints and yet we asked for change big time with this game. This kind of change should be good enough at least for that "change" we ask... Otherwise, what is there else to do?

Oh my god the amount of complaints that are being made... What kind of a game are you guys looking for then if you don't want the total darkness or whatever the hell it's going into? Be thankful that something is being made anyways for MK rather than not having anything at all. This is at least a start if this clip is to be somewhat associated with the next game.
You guys really complain too much about things that shouldn't be complained. I know I'm gonna get a lot of back talk about it, but seriously... It's something different that we're going to experience, and majority of you guys are again, not going to be satisfied with what's going to happen with the next game. Exactly what do you guys want in this game?

Don't lump everyone into the same category just because they don't like this. I mean really, asking for change doesn't equate to this and this alone. It really doesn't. Just because it's "new and different" doesn't automatically make it good. I am just not a fan of movies that look like this and whenever I see trailers for action flick #563 that looks like a SAW and Dark Knight baby, I roll my eyes. I'm not going to not roll my eyes just because it's MK. This is not what I wanted, so yes I am not going to be happy with it. I can't make myself like something I don't.

We don't really know if any of the Kung Fu elements or magic will be involved though. The trailer showed us characters set in a realistic/gritty setting sure, but Sub-Zero looks like a robot almost and Scorpion looks undead. Shang Tsung I'm sure will still be a sorcerer and I wouldn't be surprised if a Kung Lao martial artists shows up illegally from China or something to fight in this "tournament."
If this is real, I say we wait and see where it goes. It could be what MK needs to advance and it could be just like MKvDC, something that went absolutely nowhere, but I'll still play it never-the-less. Hell, I still hate MKvDC but that doesn't stop me from playing it online every now and again for kicks.

I don't get all this complaining either. I for one am very excited by this.
People actually cared about the convoluted mess the storyline became after the first couple of games? And all those crappy characters?
I mean I can't even name 80% of the characters after Mk3. And I've played all the games.

People don't know what they want. They complain about MK being too repetitive, a storyline who got all fucked up and they offer you a dark and gritty MK, people still complain. JESUS GUYS! Get an idea.
I don't care about MK9 looking like that as long as they go to shang tsung's island and having kool stages like Gothic chinese temples, netherrealm stage and all other arenas we used to love.
Just imagine how gruesome the fatalities could be with that atmosphere!

UPDATE: For those saying this is a video tied in to E3 and a launch for a new Mortal Kombat game - I am 99% sure that is not the case. This is for a new Mortal Kombat movie.
UPDATE 2: Cat's out of the bag. This is for the movie, and it comes from the mind of genius fight choreographer Larnell Stovall. He's the guy who did the fights for the excellent Undisputed 3: Redemption, on DVD and Blu-Ray right now. I hope that this movie gets made with Larnell plotting the punches, because this guy isn't just a geek like us, he's also got an incredible skill and ambition to create the next generation of fight choreography.

There's a difference between not liking the direction of the story and not liking the core components of the universe.
Just because somebody might not like one of Superman's recent storylines doesn't mean they want to see a reboot with Clark as some heroin addict who thinks he can fly while Lex Luthor is a deranged serial killer who eats his victims' livers.
They could have rebooted MK by going back to its MK1-2 roots rather than doing...whatever this is. That was what I was hoping for. But like I said, if this is a one off Elseworlds then fine. Let them experiment. But I hope it's temporary.
EDIT: A movie, huh? Well I'll watch it of course. But I can't say I'm not slightly disappointed that we won't be seeing a new film version of "classic" MK.

There is no movie listed on imdb I knew they were planing it but last I heard it was on the backburner.
There is even a shot in the trailer that shows what im 100% certain is an ingame model of subzero.
All the clues that boon spouted about fire and ice and slience of the lambs suddenly all adds up.
Either way we will know next week.

I've already said it, but I just wanna say it again.
IM SO FREAKING HAPPY ABOUT THIS.
MK was going nowhere, it got so twisted and ****ed up even that whole DC gimmick failed.
There was no point going on with this storyline, characters like hsu hao or darrius???? I mean get over it people, it started in 1992! that 18 years ago. It's about time for something fresh.
Take Baraka for example, so he's no longer a mutant, so what? he has the same stupid storyline since 1993 (his on again off again thing with Mileena). It's about time for something new. And that''s a very cool idea.
I thought I was over MK, I'm so back in it. Now let's hope for good gameplay.

Ugh. Gay. I was hoping for a god damn MK game, not a movie.

Hell for all we know maybe this is just a one-off thing, or maybe it is for a movie reboot. I'm slightly rooting for the film angle. As much as I like this new take on MK, I think it's better suited for a movie.

Hey man, don't get down if it is for a movie! E3 is this weekend, right? I'm sure we'll see something for a game then!
hey people pay attention, apparently it's just a demo reel for a new movie. A movie to attract investors or something.
At least according to this site:

As long as its a stand alone movie that has nothing to do with the next MK game then I'm fine with it. Pretty lame that scorp is the main character and cage dies right away.

Its like what do people want from this franchise?
Can't they tell how convoluted the story had become and all the sideshow characters that went with it? They all started bitching about how it wasn't violent enough anymore and that the violence was too cartoonish.
I don't know I guess its just a rant on the people who can't seem to get their own way with this franchise but IMO its for the better to start fresh.
The same thing will happen to Resident Evil. When things get convoluted as they have with that franchise. That too will get a reboot.
Call it lazy, call it stale. Call it whatever but you can make the call that its going to happen.

This will be my last post for a while.
Mortal Kombat fell apart at a storyline stand point starting with Mortal Kombat Deception, before that there was nothing convoluted about it. The only thing the game had for itself was the outstanding opening CG movie, after that the plot went no where. In fact, that is one of the many reasons why I disliked MK: Deception.
Before MK: Deception, Mortal Kombat plot was just fine. Even if you didn't follow the events from Mortal Kombat 1 through MK4 it didn't matter. Mortal Kombat Deadly gave a new plot and a new threat without major strings from past entries
.
Sadly the second Troilgy of MK started and ended with Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, as story telling goes and good characters.
Mortal Kombat Armageddon didn't really have a plot. Mortal Kombat still had its identity it had from previous years. I am not complaing, but resetting MK like this is sort of crazy. I am still most likey going to get it , if the fighting game is good, and the storyline is decent.
Lasty I hope Resident Evil doesn't reset like MK has done. In general it would be too easy. How many times do you want to be told the same story, even if the characters are slightly different? You can expand on a series without setting setting the clock to year zero. All you have to do is just make a new story that isn't dependent on past events just like Deadly Alliance.
I'm still excited
