What I find a bit hilarious is that that some people are complaining that they're "giving it the Dark Knight treatment" and rebooting it as dark and gritty.... and then defending MK vs. DCU.... which, well, has THE DARK KNIGHT as a playable character.

I'm willing to give it a chance. If nothing else, this is the first time I've heard anybody outside of MK fans say "that was cool" when talking about ANY MK-related property.

WTF? Who should be the main character. Sub and Scorp have been always the poster guys of MK even more than the main character Lui Kang.

Its everything Mortal Kombat needed.

Live Action for one is a good start, makes me think of original trilogy.

Also you guys have to keep in mind, we are die hard fans that know the story, but if WB wants to make MK a big franchise again they need to start fresh, and this is the way to do it.

The original story got way to conviluded, and this brings everything back into the hardcore , scary violent mortal kombat.

What else could you do other than rehash the same story and characters ?

I personally love it, and its exactly like I pictured. If you look at back at my older posts, I always said I would like to see a an "Alternate Dimension" take on Mortal Kombat where the characters were more human, and the story would focus on a human looking Scorpion.

It's not a "fake", it's a demo reel.

Either way, I'm simultaneously relieved and terrified.

It being just a movie that might not even be made means this grimdark no-magic no-fun bullshit hasn't contaminated the actual game franchise...yet.

Terrified because of the "yet". Now that people actually LIKE this "There is no Outworld, Baraka is a doctor who went crazy" crap, the possibility now exists that one day they really WILL go down this road and everything I love about the franchise will be dead.

The one in the trailer is a different angle so it had to have come from a different render. Plus there are several different tiny details. They could have gotten the permission to use that guys design or something. Plus it flashed by so quick the only way to actually see it would have been to pause it, so maybe it was just a temporary placement until they finish his design.

The reason this should never be turned into a video game is because it is not Mortal Kombat. It's a "realistic" twist on the Mortal Kombat story. Baraka is a doctor? Are you fucking serious? Reptile has a skin disease?

MK is all about fantasy. Hopefully this is just a movie and not part of the game's reboot

I think this film game reboot thing is a lot closer tied than we know about.

In terms of production value, it's looks good. But in concept, this is just overwhelming with stupid.

Baraka is a plastic surgeon? Serious does not mean better; for fantasy stories, realistic typically means worse. Why would anyone want MK to resemble the Saw franchise? Did it not sway them when that franchised sucked 5 movies in a row?

All this shows me is that people think MK fans only want blood and guts, but if you look at this forum alone, you'd know 90% of the conversations are based around the story and gameplay.
