This makes A LOT of sense given his fatality, which basically looked like a sacrifice ritual when poured the blood on his face.

The Aztec guy was pretty cool. Can't say the same about the others though. The bug lady doesn't fit in MK. And the giant/gnome thing, please don't turn this game into World of Warcraft

Exactly, if this is the case and they are expanding upon the different gods in the MK Universe besides Raiden, Fujin and Shinnok, then this gets me very excited, more-so than Ladybug and the Duo.
whats every ones problem? "new characters don't fit" ummm last time I checked MK was never filled with all human plain characters , theres been fantasy characters since MK 1 umm goro... 4 arms!! hello! theres nothing wrong with the new ones if u don't like them then play as someone else its that simple, its time for a change!! if u don't like change go play mK9

I would've preferred for them to stick with western mysticism but I can get down with a guy ripping out someone's heart and drinking the blood from it. TemperaryUserName Wrote:

What's Kano going to do though? LBR poor Kano might get left behind.
You know, I always hate Fatalities where the victim just stands in place, as the opponent slowly kills him. So I hope the Aztec guy actually knows some magic, and binds his victims in place, as he slowly carves out their hearts.
If he doesn't know magic, I'd prefer it more if he grabs the victim by the face, lift him up, and then does the heart carve, as he struggles and fights to get out of his grip.

Really don't like the Twins. Doesn't seem MK-y to me and it's such a played out trope, big dumb guy controlled by annoying little girl.
Bug Lady looks cool but Aztec guy I am so down for.

This, I am actually glad for. NRS should try to get out of their own comfort zone and experiment more. I'd rather see more unique characters like that, than NRS playing it too safe.

They're not experimenting much when they use something so played out. With that being said, I know the vast majority of MK characters are very uninspired and played out. But these two aren't exactly something unheard of before. And Bug Lady isn't a super original idea either.
As I said, I love the new direction, just not the execution so far.
Hardly anything is unique anymore these days. I'm sure every sort of character has been done at some point in a fighting game. But instead of just another regular martial artists, we actually get a brawler type brute, that's not a former mid-boss.
And even if the trope is played out, at least it's something new to MK. And that's good enough in my book.

Doesn't feel MK-y, every time I hear that it makes me smile.
Has this fanbase ever considered how different the original games could have been if they had the technology to achieve whatever they wanted?
Also, it is not your place to decide what is MK or not. That is solely the creator's right. However, you are also absolutely free to like or dislike, buy or skip. just be civil about it.

LOL the community's reaction has been more calm and civil than I expected ...
Comparing this to MKDC's reaction....u can see what I mean.New characters are welcome... they need not to shine all the light on them. Your normal gamer comes for Raiden,Sonya and Cage not for those...

Good thought, here is why it will not happen: the announcer is going to have a seizure trying to say it.
Also, the weapon should have black stonesportruding from it, if so, it would truly be accurate. Obsidian is one beautiful thing.

I do like the bug lady character.
i think the duo character will be interesting. (just to see how the fatalities work on them)
it will be the revamp returning characters from older games im mostly interested in :)

lol Obviously I wouldnt expect them to use that complicated name, like how they never used Ajisukitakahikone or Raijin for Raiden. I'm just saying its likely based on the look and his fatality that COULD be the characters inspiration knowing how NRS in the past have 'borrowed' from certain mythical characters.

Bug Lady: Really digging the design, glad we're getting an actual female character with an actual good design.
Brute/Midget: Wasn't expecting something like this, really glad for it too! There playstyle looks like nothing we've seen before in MK.
Blue dude: I like his design, he looks powerful...I reckon he'l be a big player in the story mode.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised how positive most of the MK fanbase have been towards these these new characters, obviously there are some people who just want the MK1-3 cast over and over but you can expect that.

I did not like bug girl, she seems way too cartoony, she doesn't seem like she's in place in MK, but I guess we will see.
The big dude with the little dude I'm still undecided on. They also seem a bit cartoony.
The other weird looking blood guy looks more like he belongs in MK.

I have a theory on the new imp/brawler blastermaster character.
After looking at the brawler character, many people have noted that his clothing as well as the impish character's clothing is very reminiscent of Outworld fashion. Also, despite being a large character, the brawler's body type and skin type bare a striking resemblance to another character that we've seen countless times before.
We know that Shao Kahn made a clone of himself between MK4 and MKDA and that the clone was the one that was killed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in Deadly Alliance. Here's Kahn's bio from Deception that sheds more light on that
My theory is that in the new MK9 timeline, Kahn already had a clone of himself being developed alongside the Mileena clones. After his death in MK9, the clone that he had was released prematurely, so instead of getting a full blown Kahn clone, we get a clone that isn't fully developed and is a bit of mongoloid. It explains the similar clothing and body structure, as well as the need to keep his face masked (probably due to not being fully developed).
And as for his imp counterpart, a Mileena clone that also hasn't fully developed.
