Let me clarify my opinion that this is not necessarily so. It's clear from the language of the article that the author hasn't actually seen or played the story mode, and they didn't credit this to a conversation with Boon as with other confirmations. This could easily just be their speculation.

I really don't believe all of this bullshit from the magazine. Why would Boon spill so much info? It makes no sense to me, he hasn't done this before. Why say so much when GamesCom is coming up, and why would he say so much when he's been holding off. And my bullshit meter is going off reading that Sonya AND Johnny are in the game. Come..the fuck..on. Sonya won't be in, if Cassie is, WHY would Sonya??? None of this makes sense and just seems fake to me.

And I don't get why you are so incredulous at the idea of Sonya and Johnny both being in it. It makes perfect sense for the game's story to focus on them considering how MK9 ended. I really don't get why people are surprised by this.

To me Kotal Kahn is much more interesting then Shao Kahn. His design is more exotic and I hope he has more complex motivations then Shao Kahn.

Unacceptable in my opinion. If magazines are going to be couriers for information about the game then they should get the information correct. It does not help anyone if they get it wrong. Not the developers who have to correct themselves, not the magazine since they look foolish and especially the fans since they are mislead.

Not only that, why would he blab everything to a foreign-language magazine first? I think most of this stuff the editors are pulling out of their rears.

Usually Boon wouldn't outright claim something like this if it wasn't the truth. Usually he'd say something cryptic or change the subject completely instead of answering the question. Now he's allegedly saying Kotal is related to Shao Kahn? Flat out saying they're related? I mean, related could mean they're both Gods and Kotal is related because they're Gods. And not that Kotal shot out of Shao Kahn's dick. This always happens with foreign magazines, they say shit that isn't true at all.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm liking the way NRS is revealing the new characters. I'd like to get the more obvious ones out of the way first, or at least the ones that are least likely to get the "HOLY SHIT!!" factor. E3 gave us the two most obvious inclusions (Scorp and Subby) and then a big taste of what's to come with four brand new characters. Raiden was obviously going to return, so let's get his reveal out of the way. Kano survived, so he's obviously going to return as well.

But magazines are relics? I knew about the characters in Mortal Kombat 4 from Official Nintendo Magazine back in the mid 1990s. They were spot on. I had trust in what I was reading and I would wait for the next issue for a chance for more information. Today web-sites are dubious as I trust little but magazines I assume would have more integrity since they talk directly to the developers.

I'm sorry but I don't believe every single "Tweet" thing Boon posts. If he's know to joke heavily on that site, why not take what he says with a grain of salt?

I'll believe what he has to say during official interviews, not on a site where he's known to be a little troll.
