Ed Boon did say in an interview with TRMK that at least one Mortal Kombat 4 character will be in Mortal Kombat X but he did not confirm as playable. Same with some from the later games.

It was confirmed (can't remember if it was in an interview or a tweet) that there will be at least one MK4 character.

He does, just like every MK character. Seriously, if Frost has fans then Kano has triple the fans of her. I want Kano in the game, but if they really went wild with his design for who he would be in 25 years. I'm hoping this is just the young version and we get to see him older. Because this isn't an old Kano, it's like an alternate costume from MK9 that got scrapped.

I guess I'm more irked than anything at a roster spot being wasted on a character that hardly anyone gives a flying fig about.

All I.know is kano better.NOT have a heart.rip fatality of any kind cuz.that'll b BS. Kotal Kahn,already has that.

I think he's gonna use his laser to blow a hole in the opponent's face, starting with the eye. Boon DID say he wanted to have a Fatality like that.

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say his other 2 variations will be:

- A tech-based variation that will make use of grenades and his laser eye for zoning attacks.

- A knife-based variation which will be more of a rush down attack style.

I remember Supes did something like that to Shazam in IGAU Story Mode. Though obviously MKX will be a lot more gruesome

The only thing that'd make this okay is if they include Reptile in that bunch. tongue

But no really, I'm hoping this isn't the case. I don't mind some of them appearing in different variations but having the original 7 consuming roster space? Bleh.

TRMK: Fans expect this game to follow the storyline of MK4 and beyond, but it looks like you are taking the story in another direction. Will fans see some familiar faces from the series they haven’t seen yet in MK9?
Ed Boon: You will definitely see a Mortal Kombat 4 character, I believe that's the first time I've said that. You will also see some of the later game's fighters. You'll also see cameo's in the story mode. Some really fun ones.

but i believe we will see more then one mk4 post chracther like 8 post mk4, 8 orginal and 14 new for total of 30

Pretty solid guesses IMO. Also, people need to settle the mother fuck down on all the assumptions on if they only add the original 7 characters or some shit that's going on. Get some brains.

Agreed. I like Kano; I am actually one of those elusive fans of the character. I just found this design to be unimaginative. I'm hoping it's just a younger version of him from earlier in the story mode as you suggest.

Yeah based on Boon's comments here I'm thinking it HAS to be shipping with around 30 fighters. Good. And I'm glad to hear we'll also get at least one or two(he did say fighters plural) characters from MKDA-MKA. I'm hoping for Kenshi and Havik, obviously. I know people will want to throw rocks at me but I also like Bo Rai Cho and Ashrah. Wouldn't mind seeing either of them return.

I took a look at the picture again and the first thing I thought of was that he looked like a wrestler (save for the arms) with that outfit. Also, Kotal Kahn looks so unimposing.

Yes, in hindsight it did neither character any good since Jarek is just a unoriginal character and the same happened with Kira. It was held against them while simultaneously diluting Kano. That was a mistake.

It looks like NetherRealm has learnt their lesson though. I do not think we will see Jarel playable anytime soon and neither Kira while Kano can evolve as a character by having further plot relavence.

I knew Kano was probably going to be in the game, but Kano... why did it have to be Kano...

I can see this being DA 2.0 ie all MK1 chars (Liu Kang included), a couple Mk2 chars, 1 or 2 MK3 chars, 1 or 2 MK4 chars, 1 or 2 MKDA-MKA chars, and half the roster being new characters.
