Damn so today pretty much killed any hype I have whatsoever for this game.

Kuai Liang may have to remain a cyber douche forever and we not only get Cassie who I believed gave us the best of both worlds of Sonya and Johnny, but we also get Johnny and Sonya as well. Isn't that just fucking amazing?

Let's ignore the fact that Cassie already integrates a nut punch into her fighting style, has her mothers acrobatics, and her fathers green animations. Plus she has her father's cocky loveable attitude. Let's still spread all of that same shit out across two different characters and also have them take up an already limited roster spot. Along with FUCKING BORING KANO.

God, horrible horrible news today. I get some people are happy for this shit and to them congrats, but this comes across as boring as hell to me.

I expected Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, and Yes Liu Kang. Kano was a bad surprise, but I can deal with it.

However, I do not see how people can be super hyped about Sonya, Johnny, and Cassie all being in the same roster.

If that is the case then they should have pushed Cassie back to MK11 and just let her parents take their respective spots this time around.

Hm, a lot of info. With the possibility of translation errors and the magazines sometimes screwing up facts, I'm not going to jump at too much just yet.

That said, if the story mode revolving around Sonya and Cage is true....I'll be disappointed. I love Sonya, but I don't the story to be just about her and Johnboy. With THAT said, however, she and Cage are definitely in need of some development. They can't be "cocky actor" and "tough military chick who wants to fuck up Kano" forever. This story can truly flesh them out as people, and the romance angle was a natural progression from MK9. I just hope the story doesn't focus on them too narrowly, at the exclusion of other characters' development, like Soul Calibur V did. *shudder*

I don't buy the part about Kotal being Shao Kahn's son. That just seems wrong. >_>

Surprised to see Liu being explicitly mentioned as being in the game and playable. Totally thought Raiden turned the turkey into jerky. Kind of puts a twist on what to expect now. I wonder if Liu will be the (playable) boss, or if it's someone else entirely.

So you are asking why Cage/Sonya fans are so excited, although they suppossedly just got into another game (taking it with a grain of salt) since they have missed a few, and got replaced by their daughter, who doesn't even fight like them, yet you are upset over getting Sub-Zero yet AGAIN, but with a different name? If it's a new Sub-Zero it's a new Sub-Zero. Whatever. It sucks that he had an amazing story and then they shit on it, but it is what it is.

Also, I will flat admit that at first I wanted Sonya or Cage. Not both. I leaned towards wanting Sonya. However, after seeing a mix of her gameplay, her attitude, and just her in general it seems like such a good mix of both Johnny and Sonya.

Sonya's main schtick is being a stern female. She uses her acrobatics (which Cassie has) she has a kiss of death (Cassie also already has a kiss move) and her pink energy rings.

Cage is a cocky d-bag (Cassie seems to have gotten his personality).

Hell I'm not even going into everything she has of Cage's because she is basically female Johnny Cage with Sonya's acrobatics. There ya go.

We do not need all three of these characters on the roster when there are sooo many more interesting characters to put there in their place.

Hell, the cyborgs are unique. All of the "Ninja" characters have developed individually. Telekinetics, Reptilian acid, Water abilities, Shadow skillsets. I mean damn all of that sounds waaaay more interesting than having three humans who all play sorta the same. Hell Kitana, Mileena, and Jade all have individual skillsets which set them apart as well. Fans, Sais, and Staff/Razorang all respectively.

Johnny and Sonya were both in your face rushdown characters anyway. It seems like their shit was merged into Cassie.

I'm sorry, but I'm still hoping for cameos or DLC AT MOST for them.

You're sad/dissapointed/mad that the new Sub-Zero isn't the same one that you've been a fan of for years, and has been playable in every installment since MK2, although he fights identical to Kuai Liang.

Yet we can't be excited about Cage and Sonya being confirmed, and you want us to be satisfied with Cassie, who is NOT Johnny Cage, is NOT Sonya Blade, and doesn't fight identical to them.

If Kuai Liang got into the game, you know damn well you wouldn't be complaining, even when there's already a replacement to him, in the form of the new Sub-Zero.

I am directly bitching about Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie because I will flat out say I don't see them making the 3 original enough to take up 3 fucking slots. Also each has 3 variations. So that's 3 ways they have to make each character different and Cassie already has 2 count em TWO variations which are SUPPOSED to mimic both her mother and father individually.

So, how in the hell are they going to make Sonya and Cage SOOO different whenever they have already given Cassie some of their shit.

Please proceed and tell me 3 variations for both Johnny and Sonya which will be drastically different from Cassie though. Because I don't see it.

Even if Sonya and Johnny are in so what? Its quite clear Cassie differs from them both very much. NRS is creative enough to make them all be different characters.

I don't know what variations they could give to Johnny and Sonya, i'm not a game developer, but surely they can give them unique fighting styles, like they've been doing with every character since 1992.

Hell, did you read the article? It says that Johnny Cage and Sonya's aged versions will be given new moves and that they'll play differently from their previous incarnations = them not having the moves Cassie Cage has "borrowed" from them (and these moves are not even carbon copied, they're inspired by their parents' moves).

Not to mention this is not confirmed, and has to be taken with a grain of salt. Also, if they survived MK9, and MKX's storyline will revolve around them, it's only natural they'd be playable, no?

They will not fight similar to Cassie (if true), and the "we don't need the whole Cage family!!!1111111111111" excuse is bullshit since we've had Sindel, Mileena, KItana and Shao Kahn in the same game, several times.

And you may have gotten over the fact that the new Sub-Zero may not be Kuai Liang, but you won't deny that you will NOT complain if Kuai Liang somehow makes it into the game, with the new Sub-Zero also playable. :-/

They are not a legit family. Sindel is Kitana's mother whom she had with Jarrod. Shao Kahn killed Jarrod and took them as his family. As for Mileena, she was a creation and not really true flesh and blood to Kitana or Sindel.

Sonya, Johnny and Cassie are all flesh n blood.

KANO of all characters being revealed made me extremely salty because we have been told that there is limited roster space. That's a guarantee. That is something solid.

KANO is shitty. I'm sorry, but I do not like the character. He's boring and he's a punching bag. 90% of posters here seem to agree. He wasn't played a lot in MK9 and on top of that he was boring as fuck story wise. It just seems like a waste. There are many classic villains who could have been revealed that are ten times more interesting. Shang Tsung, Noob Saibot. and Sektor are all good examples. Plus, Kano's design just looks plain. It's a waste.

So, on top of that salty attitude I get told that Cassie (a type of merger for Johnny and Sonya) will have both of her parents in the game? Some don't agree it seems and that's fine. However, it seems rather repetitive to place both Sonya and Johnny in when we have Spec Ops and Hollywood variations respectively to represent them.

Shang Tsung steals souls, Noob Saibot manipulates shadows, Sektor and Cyrax are both cyborgs who use missiles and bombs respectively. Kung Lao has his hat throws and kicks. Kitana has fans. Mileena has sais. You see what I'm getting at here? Each character has individual traits which would look amazing in MKX.

Yet, they MAY choose to show both Johnny and Sonya who already have their respective identities represented?

This is the same game where people have been saying merge the three female ninjas or merge the cyborgs into one character.

I will say this about this reveal though. Some of this stuff is contradictory to what Boon has already said in other interviews.

1. Boon said that the new game would have at least as many as the last game if not more. Weren't there 28 characters on the main roster in MK9? So, 24 should not be the final roster number upon shipping.

2. Boon has said that Kotal is not related to Shao Kahn, and they have even changed his name spelling lately to differentiate that.

That's just two.

I'll just say it. I'm not buying all of the shit in this magazine. I do not think that this is all true.

Mileena has Kitana's blood, and Kitana has Sindel's blood, so Mileena has SIndel's blood running through her veins.

The Mileena, Kitana, and Sindel trio would be equivalent to Cage, Cassie, and Sonya, since Sonya and Johnny do not have blood bond.

-Why are you still ignoring this bit? Cassie has some moves inpired by her parents' classic, outdated moves, assuming Cage and Sonya would get an overhaul.

Johnny could have his Seido shit I guess, but still the green animations are with Cassie. Plus Cassie has that cocky ass attitude. I mean she is female Johnny Cage she really is.

That's why I was actually more in favor of Sonya coming back than Johnny if it was an either/or because while Sonya and Cassie may favor in appearance, Cassie also has Johnny's green animations and Johnny's attitude. She is the female equivalent to Johnny Cage. She even wears the sunglasses like him in one variation.

I just don't think they are different enough characters to include.
