I mean, I look at games like GTA 5 and any Elder Scrolls title, and the amount of detail in absolutely everything is astounding. Sure, NRS hasn't been anywhere on par with Rockstar or Bethesda in making their universes come to life,but why can't they start now? Is the industry really so shitty that detail now must have a reason?

Why is it suddenly that everyone is getting a raging Sherlock Holmes hard-on for the amount of spikes, bumps, or ridges ANY character model has?

Maybe NRS just wants to make a pretty game? Again, their creative team has been going nuts this time around.

Do you remember 9's intro? Where all of the characters still had their armegeddon shit on while the playable characters had their current outfits on? Hell Kenshi went ahead and got an outfit change because he was DLC later on

Shit let's go back to MK2 and we see Sonya and Kano in MK1 outfits in the Koliseum

Now forget all that we'll have Rain and Baraka only get new outfits but you can't play as them cuz fuck you enjoy the SF. In comparison to the MK3 characters who werent said to have anything new looking. Oh wait and Lets not forget Kitana and Jax who are also revenants but yet playable.

I'm sorry man but that's bullshit. The whole thing ends up feeling really half-assed. Why not give the other Revenants new costumes?

I was sold months ago, even when my favourite character (Kenshi) wasn ́t even announced yet, I just don ́t get all this childish talk and hatred towards NTS.

You're forgetting some things;

This is next-gen technology now. They can easily implement new costumes and looks and designs for characters that aren't even playable in the story mode. If that's not your cup of tea, that's fine, but seeing as this story is 25 friggin' years in the future, it's pretty obvious they'd more than likely be dressed differently. Besides, shouldn't we be thrilled they can do all these things with the technology now? Shouldn't we be happy we get to see characters that aren't involved in the story instead of acting like they aren't involved and that characters just drop off the face of the earth for months/years at a time because they weren't in that particular game?

I'll say this....I have an entire file on my computer of nothing but MKX screenshots. The stages are phenomenal and even the NPCs are great.

The Design Team has definitely been busting their asses.

I have to butt in on this real quick:

Raiden, Johnny, Sonya, Shinnok, and Quan Chi were all given from MK9. Anyone who was in any sort of denial of this was either overthinking story theories, or they didn't play MK9.

Agreed, but several people were hailing Shinnok as a mere "Story mode cameo" in the first story mode trailer thread. I just found that odd. Even when some of us pointed his new costume people used the same excuse they're using now. "Oh it's just next gen technology. Shinnok won't be playable. He's just in the story mode! A cameo!"

Funny how that has changed. Also funny how people were sold since he was on some random "leaked list" AFTER he was revealed in the story mode trailer. Which I still wonder why people believe in that list so strongly. That list is full of characters that had already been rumored for months or featured largely in the comics.

They are starting to create better models all around, and not copy/paste so much. That's a good thing. We can't hold them to what they did in MK2, Deception, or even MK9. They are supposed to strive for more, and an overall better game top to bottom. The fact that all of these characters are getting fresh models, is great. It shows they aren't settling for mediocrity.

Other things to consider:
-Flying Dragon in the beginning of the trailer.
-Unique soldiers in the helicopter.
-Fujin, Rain, Li Mei, and Smoke all have new outfits too. (everyone we have seen thus far, and it might be the case with every NPC in story)
-We're going to see more than just 1 alt. for several characters.

Baraka getting a new outfit, isn't some anomaly. He isn't the only one. This is clearly a sign that they are putting this much effort into everything.

This is the opposite of half-assed. They are doing everything they can to make everything look amazing. Bringing in models form previous games as NPCs with no new details, is half-assed. They can't purposely hold back on the design of their game, due to a few fans assuming someone is playable based on an achievement picture or appearance in story mode with a new outfit. That wouldn't be helping the game at all.

But like you said, we don't see eye to eye, and you are welcome to feel however you like. I wish you the best.

And I just said the revenants don't have anything as new as this so why even do this if you're just going to pick and choose who gets the new look and who is straight up MK9.

Unfortunately, it's a mindset we shouldn't have because we need to understand "options" which is something a lot of people can't grasp on the concept that "this doesn't mean just this one thing". But this is a mindset we will have because NRS set us up that feeling in the past a few times.
