I've mentioned it elsewhere but what the hell: I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a Parralax and retconned it so Shinnok grafted a Netherealm demon (his shadow or whatever) onto Bi-Han's soul or some such to create Noob Saibot as an entity.

If you're going to just retcon shit why not just retcon cyber sub-zero. He won't be missed.

I wouldn't be "surprised" if they did it (because they have a history of ruining their best stuff and none of it surprises me anymore)...but I would be "mad", because it would be a COMPLETE contradiction of everything they've said since Mythologies about how Bi-Han ALWAYS had evil in his heart and a destiny to serve the Netherealm upon Death, and in Deception that he became a demon because it was his true nature coming out.
Even in MK9, he says "Quan Chi PERFECTED me", not "Quan Chi changed me" or "Quan Chi merged me with a thing". Quan transforming him into a wraith merely made him toss aside the weak and compassionate parts of his personality and be what he really wanted to be all along, a heartless sociopath who can enjoy whatever horrible work he's given to do without emotions getting in the way of the mission.
Nobody ever thinks Scorpion is possessed by a demon and what Quan Chi did to him is almost exactly the same. He just has different powers and isn't an evil jackass in death because he wasn't an evil jackass in life.

I would not use the Mortal Kombat 9 story to try and figure out who this Sub Zero is. Anything could happen as both brothers were seemingly killed and if the writers wanted to, they could bring either back.
I am just going what this Sub Zero is looking like and acting and the fact to me is that he is extremely sinister suggests he is Bi Han or it could be a new Sub Zero.

Does this not "look" like Bi-Han as well?
The whole white eyes thing shouldn't matter either because they look white in this pic as well
People are jumping to conclusions because they think this Sub-Zero has Bi-Han's personality. I think that's because of the fact most of them never fully grasped Kuai Liang's personality though. Kuai is a good guy, but he's not a cookie cutter good guy.
I remember people saying how he was out of character during his first chapter in MK9. I argue that maybe they just didn't grasp what his character is like.

No, that was a function of them changing his backstory from "ordered to finish his brother's last mission but won't kill anybody besides Shang because he doesn't like to" to "ran away from base 'cause he wants revenge"

Yeah, they retconned a lot of shit. It was bad. I have seen Bi-Han fans call Kuai a wimp though, and that's just not true. Maybe it was just them trying to change his personality??? I would like to believe he always had a little spitfire in him though like his character displayed in MK9. He's a natural leader so he's got to be semi-aggressive. I think people tend to overlook that in him. I DEFINITELY know he doesn't like to kill. However, MK9 let it be known he's no pushover, which is what Bi-Han fans always said about him. I guess I'm saying it was horrible how they retconned being there to assassinate Shang. However, I don't necessarily think they got his personality wrong. I actually liked his character better in the cyber chapter though, even though I hated cyber sub-zero.

At the beginning of this clip, we see Scorp and Sub exchanging verbal hate.
Judging by what Subzero says in that intro, "Death is more honor than you deserve", makes me believe that this is Bi-Han. He knows he killed him in MK Mythologies, and he believes that, that wasn't enough punishment for whatever disputes that they may have had before their encounter in that game. For what we know, Scorpion might have done something to piss off Bi-Han in the first place.

I don't find any merit in arguing this between who is who but I don't think it's neither of the sub-zeroes in the previous game but another member of the Lin Kuei possibly a descendant from one of the originals but that's neither here nor there. Since it's a title bestowed it would make more since in it being a new one and possibly the animosity that was between the Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei. In sure if they are descendants that they would have learned the story of the others demise. Maybe scorpion just has a grudge still against whoever possesses the title of Sub-Zero but we don't have that much info yet. Still just my 2 cents.

This is a little off topic but I dont want to be crucified for starting another subby thread. (So i will make allusions to this thread on top of it.)
1. Anyone else not happy with how Subby uses one hand in some of his variations to perform ice attacks. I know its a stupid thing to harp on but maybe it shows that he is a new subzero. Subby always uses two hands and it looks bad-ass. This one handed crap looks lame.
2. Who else thinks subby's alt costume is going to be unmasked? I think it is a shoe-in. UNLESS it is in fact a new sub-zero and then we could be talking about an entirely new look for sub-zero; one that we have never seen before. I hope its the ladder but think it is the former.

Well no matter who this Sub-Zero is, they had to have been resurrected somehow right? Because when this Sub-Zero fights, his eyes are constantly white, and white eyes are undead eyes. So it can't really be a new Sub-Zero since if this Sub-Zero was human, his eyes would be normal. If you look in MK9 Bi Han and Kuai Liang had normal eyes while they were alive and fighting in human form (as Sub-Zeros). But when Bi Han became Noob, his eyes turned white because he was resurrected from the dead as a wraith. (Kuai Liang is different tho since he was turned to a cyborg, but he did have white/blue eyes if you wanna say that due to his helmet he wore as a cyborg.) anyways. . . So if this Sub-Zero is an undead one, it could be either kuai liang or bi han. But since kuai liang is a robot, i think this might be Bi Han. The personality fits the character (bi han). He could of came back all pissed off at Scorpion because he accused and killed Bi Han for something he didn't even do(killing his family/clan). I don't know how this could of happened, (soulnado he got thrown in changed him. . .idk) but i mean there's a good chance it could be him. It just makes sense that this Sub-Zero is undead, and is ready to go at it with Scorpion. The way it looks now, it could very well be him.

I am leaning toward this being a new subzero. Boon practically said it himself. If it is a new subzero he wont be related to bi han or kuai so his eyes can be however the developers want them to be and they will most likely be explained when we learn more about the origins of this new subby.

Please don't go by his eyes. As others have said, there have been inconsistencies with eyes (looking at you, Deception), so that shouldn't be an indication of who is who.
I'm not going to sit here and make a prediction based on what little knowledge we know. There is not enough evidence to support either side. What I *want* is Kuai. Furthermore, why are people assuming that because Kuai was automated, Bi-Han would all of sudden cease to be Noob and become Sub-Zero again, assuming he survived the Soulnado? That makes no damn sense. It makes more sense to me for it to be a new Sub-Zero than for it to be Bi-Han.

Probably it's either Kuai or a new Sub-Zero (perhaps another Cryomancer or a child of Kuai if he returns to human form and retires giving his son the title?)
I don't get why people want Bi-Han to be Sub-Zero just because of the Soulnado. It's a complete defeat of his purpose as Noob Saibot. He was a heartless assassin in life clung to the Lin Kuei and as Noob, he is who he really is a heartless warrior with allegiance to no one (His MK 9 ending says he breaks of Quan Chi's spell)
I see it's Kuai mostly because of his styles of Grandmaster and Croymancer. People think his taunt with Scorpion makes him Bi Han. Kuai was probably brought up by the Lin Kuei to hate the Shiari Ryu. Does anyone think maybe in his time in the Netherrealm before he becomes human perhaps made him more cynical and hateful and almost end up on the same path as his brother? Just a thought.

Nope, I see it as you simply can't use these intros to find his identity. Why? Well, if Scorpion and Sub-Zero don't hate each other in storymode, NRS can still give us classic rivalry lines from Scorpion and Sub-Zero. They're intros. It makes sense for them to develop these in a way that Sub-Zero and Scorpion hate each other. Even if they don't in storymode. My two cents.

Maybe so but ingame he always had blue eyes, and in the trailer of mk x he had blue eyes I could link that with eyes, but now ingame mkx he has the same kind of eyes as Noob-Saibot I really think those are the eyes of an Undead,
Ps how did you add a picture in the post?

Just had to add to the eye discussion, even if it doesn't mean anything. This Sub does have pupils, they are just very faint, look closely in the intro videos. They are gray and small pupils, different from Scorps pure white eyes. Look more like an effect to make him look frozen/cold than undead to me.
New sub zero would SUCK. It makes sub-zero cheap like a title. a crappy one. But its mortal kombat. who the hell cares about the story right? Well, the more NRS behaves like this and screws up characters the more MK story will become irrelevant. Sub zero must be Kuai.

And Kid NOVA wants to hug sub zeros and squeeze their bootays. :3
I haven't seen use of the phrase bootay since at least 1996. Well played.
