You should play with Kitana in MK4.

It's the exact model, with gray attire and slightly lighter skin. In fact, their stance is exactly the same. The same minor changes made to create every other palette swap were made to create Tanya. She's a MK ninja, JR.

But no, it's the story principle I am leaning towards when defining characters as "ninjas". I am not one of those who just put a mask on a character and calls it a ninja.
Also... NOT ONCE does Ed Boon call Tanya an MK ninja in Khameleon's Trading Card video. He says "FEMALE CHARACTERS"...

Basically. And JR proved above that Boon calls her "female character" and NOT ninja, yet there were 2 members on the last page that were saying things like "she's confirmed to be a ninja" and "boon explicity calls her a ninja", lol.

I still can't figure out where the "Tanya is a ninja" even came from. It doesn't even make sense. She has never been a ninja.

Tanya was supposed to be Kitana in MK4, but they changed the model into Tanya instead, so yes, she is basically a palette swap, but not a ninja. The same goes for Reiko, as he was supposed to be Noob, but then changed into his own character. They have never been considered ninjas though.

MKA. Khameleon turns yellow and I THINK has one of Tanya's moves. Considering she doesn't take moves from females in generals I assume the association came from there.

From what it seems, they just needed a 4th move for Khameleon and decided to go with Tanya.

I wouldn't even consider Tanya a palette swap, let alone a ninja. Yes, Kitana's model was modified into Tanya, but Kitana was ultimately cut from the game and came back in gold with a different model, so Tanya's the one who debuted that 3D model and shared it with no one.

That's like saying Mileena/Jade/Kitana are palette swaps of Skarlet in UMK3 because the actress that played them was wearing a red outfit. What actually hapened in the game and what we got is what matters, not what was planned/cut/changed.

If Tanya was in mk2 she would be a yellow palette swap. That's why I consider her grouped with jade, mileena, and Kitana. But is she a ninja? No. The only female ninja is frost. Kitana, mileena, jade, and skarlet are all assassins. Are they the same thing? Idk (skarlet is kinda ninjaish tho)

Maybe it is just edenian culture to dress monotone and some confuse that with labels, and since Tanya is yellow people just throw her in with purple blue and green.. (Guilty of this)

I don't know where this thought comes from. Sindel is also wearing a leotard in UMK3 and is edenian, but she didn't share sprites with Jade/Mileena/Kitana, Tanya would be the same i think. That and she never wore a mask, whereas the other 3 + Skarlet have.

Assuming Frost could be considered a ninja, isn't odd that Tanya was chosen to be a part of Khameleon's moveset instead of Frost? Considering Chameleon and Khameleon take after the other MK ninjas, one could make a logical conclusion.

In Armageddon, Khameleon is a combination of Kitana, Mileena, Jade and Tanya. No other characters are utilized. Chameleon and Khameleon take after the other MK ninjas. What does that tell us?

Until you give me solid proof, an official statement calling Tanya an MK ninja, I'm not going to accept her as one.

And the reason I put Frost on the list is because she is basically just a female version of Sub-Zero who IS an MK ninja. So it makes sense. Feel free not to see her as an MK ninja though, that's all up to you.

Edit: Come to think of it, Frost is Lin Kuei, and everyone in the Lin Kuei are considered MK ninjas... I wonder if I should put the human version of Sektor and Cyrax on the list then too? I mean, they are considered cyber ninjas when turned cyborgs, so... Well, that's up to you guys to decide.

Well Chameleon/Khameleon ONLY take their specials from the "ninja" characters. If she uses one of Tanya's moves I don't see how that's not proof. I mean we can literally see it with our own eyes.
