It comes as no surprise to me that Ermac is kicking Baraka's ass... I haven't liked [playing as] Baraka since MK2. Like Reptile, he's just another punching bag character.

'Mac Daddy. Baraka's the epitome of grunt, and while there's nothing wrong with that - it's who he is - Ermac has evolved into one of MK's best.

Baraka was getting his ass whipped throughout the Story Mode. Ermac blew up Jax's arms and was somewhat kicking Stryker's ass(keyword is somewhat)

Baraka is something completely new not only in MK but also in another games... a whole new race with a super original look, a different behaviour, etc. I have to give him some credit just for that. Ermac on the other side... is not that original to me... just some edenian spirits together. He may look cool, but nothing that we havent seen before in my opinion.

Ermac is the "ninja" who is no longer a ninja and doesn't have a shred of it in him anymore. He is a mystic if anything, on par with Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, but alot cooler than both. I can't stress enough about how cool I think his new alternate outfit is.

Baraka looks good... under Jade's high-heeled boots. ;P

It's interesting how both - Ermac and Baraka are from generic bunches, one in RL, another in-story. Ermac once was a just generic ninja-clone and only thing that he had for him was Telekinetic Slam. In MKD he was majorly revamped, received new look (one of the best designs in MK history), his abilities and personality were expanded. In MK9 he became another punching bag for the good guys, but he somewhat preserved his coolness. Besides his design is still awesome (though not as good as his MKD attire and his second costume in MK9 is much more interesting), his story is expanded even more and looks like he will take place of Sindel or / and Kitana in the story, making him one of the most important characters in the story. His gameplay in MK9 is one of the best in terms of flow and effects.

Baraka was always more or less generic thug. He never stepped over this role and perfectly could have been replaced by another tarkatan without any damage for the story. I simply couldn't vote for the character that could be easily replaced, over another character who receive extensive development in practically each game he appears in. Besides, Baraka's look is somewhat boring and gameplay is a bit jerky, even if he has good special moves. Overall Ermac overstepped his origin and become on of the MK's Finest, while Baraka left as legendary, but still just a boring thug.

Why would anyone sue you because you voted for Baraka? It's no crime to do so, in fact, it is asked of you to vote for either of the poll choices. You're not being a badass mofo just because you voted Baraka, y'know.

Man, lots of Baraka hate on here for some reason.

Ermac started as a freakin error, and yet people are complaining because Baraka's just a "generic thug." Ermac's one of like 10 ninjas in this game. That's generic.

I also keep hearing that Ermac has "evolved." Okay, his look and moves have both improved, but he was basically created by Shang Tsung to be another thug in Shao Khan's army. Sooooo he's a lackey more or less.

Baraka might be an enforcer (or lackey) as well, but he's much more unique (to me at least). The black eyes in MK2, those awesome blades, and his overall defensive game and how satisfying it is to lure opponents in to his blade fury (and blade spin in MK2011)...

He was my favorite character in MK2, Deception (loved that the blades were actually a retractable style in that game), and while his story never seems to evolve, I certainly think that he could be more than a lackey.

I think that Ermac could as well, and I certainly do like Ermac a lot, so I can see why so many people have voted for him, I just think that Baraka's one of the best, most unique characters in this whole series and I've always enjoyed using him.

Her'es hoping he only loses by a little instead of the current mauling that he's receiving. Oh well, you made it to the 2nd round, buddy! At least I still think you're awesome.

The only thing stopping Baraka becoming something seriously memorable is the fact that he's the leader and most respected member of a prominent, dangerous, brutal horde of savages and yet he's willing to serve a higher lord constantly. Up until recently, he's had no ambitions of his own.

What would perfect him is to make him think "hold on a second. The Tarkata are feral, dangerous, and feared nomads of Outworld. And they're under my command" and then allow Baraka to lead the Tarkatan as his own army in a quest for dominion over Outworld. Instantly then you've got the Shokan and the Centaur's relevancy renewed because most likely, all the races in Outworld are at threat to the Tarkatans, different species could fight for terrain and territory.

Let Baraka become a true outlaw, a feared and dangerous opponent to both his former allies and the heroes of Earthrealm, and watch him become iconic. The Tarkatan's should be a lot more feared than they are, or more specifically, Baraka should be a lot more feared than he is.

I'd echo Jaded's opinion of Ermac. He's a mystic or a sorcerer in my eyes, not a telekinetic (like Kenshi). The inclusion of Jerrod's soul in his body does nothing to strengthen the character either, if anything I thought it was a poor attempt to make him more interesting.

I liked Baraka a lot around MKD but, and even in that game he's always just knocked down to mook. The same thing that happens to him happens to reptile and to me it's just not interesting. I want to see the scheming wicked Baraka that wants to bring his people out of the wasteland and rule Outworld.

Ermac has been getting better and better. I wish they would stop putting those stupid bandages/head wraps on him though.

I agree that he keeps getting knocked around, but yeah, he DOES have potential. I love the idea of him taking his nomadic horde and becoming a threat in his own right, rather than just a stooge for whomever is in power.

Again, he's got potential. He could be a LOT more than he is story-wise. So when you take that and then look at what he is already, with the look, the blades, the moves etc, I just think that he's got lots more to offer.
