As cool as Shang is, Kenshi is the best of the new generation. And we NEED new blood. The oldies are getting really stale.

Oh man, how is this so close? Shang Tsung is one of the most iconic MK characters. Kenshi shouldn't stand a chance.

I'm going with Kenshi because I like him overall and his fatalities were far more superior that Shang's in MK 9.

Shang Tsung really only stood out to me in Deadly Alliance. He was a great boss in MK1, but felt rather weak in most respects in 2 and 3 (A few fireballs, yellow spandex, was never a fan of the morphing as a playable mechanic). Deadly Alliance certainly changed my opinion of him for the better. Unfortunately he hasn't lived up to it since. He looks and sounds completely awful in MK9, and his moves/style just isn't interesting enough to want to learn. He's just dull.

Kenshi

Kenshi.

He is one of the best of the new generation of MK characters, while Shang have slowly lose his apeal. In MK9 Shang is not bad, but he is afr form the awesome either - mediocre fatalities, not so good voice acting, boring costumes. Of course Shang is still have a cool factor, but I think Kenshi is much more interesting right now.

Kenshi is easily one of my least favorite "new" characters. He's just so bland although MK2011 did good with distinguishing his powers from Ermac.

Still I don't like Kenshi and Shang has been growing on me since MKDA (I never gave him much thought before than either) so yeah.

I vote Kenshi because he is the blind pool boy in a speedo to my inner rich, fake-boobied housewife.

To be more serious, for some reason Kenshi has always felt like a youthful character to me, that's just the sort of vibe I get from him. This series lacks that in a male character, in my opinion. Everyone just seems so... I don't know... Old. Even Johnny Cage or Liu Kang just feel aged to me. Something about Kenshi feels young and he's refreshing because of it. Not that he acts immature or whatever... It's just a general feeling.

Shang because he's so amazing.

Kenshi is great, and he's infinitely better than his MK:DA iteration, but I still feel like he's got a bit of evolving to do. I wish we could see more of a combination of his telekinesis and his sword, rather than one or the other.

Shang is pretty much perfect now.

Against my better judgment, which warns me against writing for a thread where an extensive post with dozens of thoughts and points get ignored in favor of the only thing that can be nitpicked to incite an argument against the poster, I'll keep going...


I voted Shang Tsung. Like I said before, I very much enjoyed Kenshi in DA especially, and I'm a fan of his character, but I don't think it outweighs what Shang Tsung represents, even given Tsung's portrayal in MK9. Plus, I am a little biased due to the movie, not gonna lie...

I think if they continue to treat Shang Tsung so unjustly, and instead continue developing Kenshi, the latter will eventually surpass the former, regardless of seniority... But for now, I can't possibly pick Kenshi over Tsung. Not just yet.

I think You and I have the same fantasies, except mine is with Shang Tsung and Sareena. 0_o

Anyways, voted 4 Shang Tsung just cuz for me Kenshi was just there and that's it. I will admit he has some of the best if not the best fatalities in MK9( perhaps not as great as Sheevas though).

Shang Tsung, on the otherhand, will always be the bada** Cary Tagawa I saw in the MK movies.

Shang Tsung is an Icon of MK but I could really see Kenshi becoming "the new Lui Kang".

Its his time to step up into the Limelight.

Do you mean popularity wise or story wise?

Popularity wise, Kenshi is far behind as seen in this vote off.
Story wise, Shang Tsung is already dead, even before Kenshi has stepped into the story. Who would he then want revenge on? Shao Kahn? He's dead. Sindel? She's dead too. Quan Chi? Does he even know who Quan Chi is?

I think Kenshi's story will be revamped somewhat in the next game, having him focus on something else than just mere revenge. That is what I hope, at least.
