I think you're referring to pessimism mostly. Cynicism is much more than just that, even when it can be that. Pessimism can be cynicism but it isn't in all cases, sometimes it can be just realism. About cynicism, Wikipedia:
Basically it's skeptical, scornful or pessimistic behavior with a hint of disappointment usually. Here's the full article. As for the earlier case I saw here: no, I don't think Jaded-Raven is a jackass as previously stated.
We have an old saying here, telling "Things happen to one who does." i.e. the more active you are, the more faults you make. There's one thing though – as I don't think that people come up with these things out of nowhere – the facepalms. Surely they proceed the subject towards where you are heading, but I could go as far as to say that you won't encounter anyone who really likes you doing those. Now, this is just a friendly tip.
Yeah, you're cool. As for the ongoing fight between a sorcerer and a swordsman, I really like both Shang Tsung and Kenshi. Unfortunately, both MK/DC and MK9 presented Shang Tsung as pretty bland both costume- and personality-wise (like Ninja stated); some unexpected backstabbing could've done the trick. Initially he was great though. Kensei conversely was quite perfetto in MK9 → I'll vote for the sword saint.
Cynicism is an attitude or state of mind characterized by a general distrust of other's apparent motives, or a general lack of faith or hope in the human race. It is a form of jaded negativity, and other times, realistic criticism or skepticism. [...] Modern cynicism, as a product of mass society, is a distrust toward professed ethical and social values, especially when there are high expectations concerning society, institutions and authorities which are unfulfilled. It can manifest itself as a result of frustration, disillusionment, and distrust perceived as due to organizations, authorities and other aspects of society. |

I'm not calling anyone a prick here. However, this definition of what being cynical means, that's what is shown. But thanks for your input, it is appreciated, as always. ^^
@ Riyakou:
Just to make note, I do not think you are being a prick, though I do think you are being cynical, or as Zmoke so dearly presented, perhaps pessimistic about Kenshi's development. It's a bit harsh to compare Kenshi to Scorpion, as Kenshi has clear signs of improvement and big chances of evolving into an alot more interesting character with a story that is alot more than just revenge, especially now that Shang Tsung seems to be gotten rid of.
Do you understand what I mean?
Also, I'm sorry if you have taken offence by any of this, as it was never my intention to offend you. I like you, I just didn't like you comparing Kenshi and Scorpion like that.
@ Zmoke:
First of all, thanks for not thinking of me as a jackass. :P
Second, maybe it is pessimism I meant, but there are clear signs of cynicism as well. Not caring where a character is headed, because of the lack of hope or enthusiasm to that character sounds cynical to me, especially when there is hope for said character.
@ Ninja_Mime:
I'm not trying to start anything here, but there seems to be someone who would like to make it to more than what it really is. I'm just trying to have a discussion with Riyakou, what others try to make out of it is up to them. I won't put fuel on the flames though, people with their problems is their business.

I feel you, man.
I guess pessimistic is the right word. I don't want to see another tale of vengeance, but I guess I should take it into account that Shang Tsung is dead (DON'T BE LIKE LIU KANG! STAY DEAD!), and hope that sways Kenshi into a different direction.

Time is a tickin!

If things pan out the way I think they will (unless Kenshi wins in the next few min) then Quan Chi will be the only Character introduced in the 3D games to ad ace to round 3. That is unless Shinnok wins cause I'm sorry but I am not voting Nitara over Kung Lao

A fierce warrior of the Tarkatan nomads, Baraka earned special distinction from the mutant horde for his ferocity in battle, and penchant for slaying the Emperor's greatest enemies. As a legion being created from the souls of dead warriors, Ermac is a slave to the dark sorcery of Shao Kahn, a creature stripped of identity - the sum of his parts! In Round 2, two Outworld enforcers must do battle in the ultimate test of supremacy!

MK rebirth destroyed Baraka for me, if I vote it'll be for Ermac even though he spams too much online

Baraka was my second favorite character in MK2 and has gotten cooler ever since. But Ermac was just perfect from the beginning so im voting for the telekinetic ninja.

I'm voting Baraka.
I'm sorry, but if anything MK9 ruined Ermac for me. In Deception, he was such a bad ass! He had a new look, new purpose, and a sense of depth to his character because he actually wanted to repent for his ways and help fight against the Dragon King.
Then MK9 comes along and his presence is over glorified constantly. He makes a bigger debut than Goro does (who's the fucking champion of Mortal Kombat at the time), and gets beaten by Liu Kang. Then the next time we see him he rips Jax's arms off, but loses to Sub-Zero. Then we see him kick Johnny Cage's ass in the MK2 tournament, before we get another two over-the-top appearances against Stryker and Cyber Sub-Zero which he again he loses.
To me it just came across like NRS were trying to hard to hammer the "OMGZ ERMAC IS SOOOO KEWL!" message across when really, he hardly accomplishes anything except for ripping Jax's arms off. He was all presentation and no substance, which bothered me considering how flawless they had gotten his character in Deception. The fact he's SUCH a spamable character online doesn't help his appeal in my eyes either because I'm sick to the death of the sight of him, he's the next generation Scorpion.
Baraka, yeah, he faired much worse with his portrayal in MK9, but credit given to where it's due: players that can use him online efficiently are ruthless as him and he's not one of the spammable members on the roster. In my eyes, he's still the badass motherfucker who I was terrified of as a kid (with those dark, shaded eyes in his icon) and who lead the tarkatan horde to battle against the Shaolin. He's a lackey, but he's proud to be a lackey and he doesn't try to be anything more, which is commendable.
I like originality in the franchise and Baraka has his blades and his race in his favour, since Mileena's only a hybrid. His culture and his fellow Tarkatan should be explored more in upcoming games, as I'd imagine an army of dual blade wielding monsters could pose trouble to any realm in the right circumstances.

I agree, Baraka gained more respect from me in MK9 and has been a favorite; will always love his Blade Fury. Ermac went DOWN in MK9, compared to his wonderful gameplay in MKD, what happened Ermac?
