Sareena and Li Mei
Quan Chi ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quan chi is bad ass li mei is, well she's not my favorite at all.
I prefer quan chi's story and gameplay. Plus he's all around a better character, that's way more canon to the story. Id rather li mei train and prove herself before she ever gets crowned supreme mortal kombat champion

I like Li Mei, but, disregarding his annoying meddling in MK9's story, I've always liked Quan Chi (though far less than Shang Tsung.)
He's, clearly, ridiculously powerful, and definitely not one to underestimate.
Quan gets my vote, though I'm looking forward to seeing Li Mei in future MK games.

Troll Chi
I initially despised Li Mei for being purple and using sais in a game that was severely lacking in the Mileena department, but come the next game and Mileena's glorious return, Li Mei was no longer a sack of crap and she became a character all her own.
... I have always hated Quan Chi and hate him even more after MK9.
Li Mei gets my vote!

Voted Li Mei, I'm such a sucker for the MK females. Quan Chi is really annoying to me personally and I feel NRS took the role of evil sorcerer from Shang Tsung and gave it to him.
Oh, and also I'm still holding a grudge with how Quan Chi was part of the main roster and not Rain.

Li Mei.
While I like Quan Chi, I think the time has come for him to step aside and give place for a new breed of villains. For too long he was a mastermind behind things in the MK'verse. MK9, also, made him kind of overpowered and omniscient, to the point where other villains looked like stupid brutes compared to him. I mean he is a clearly developers favorite, but everything should have its limitations. Bsides, his MKDA design is overused.
Anyway, while I am not seriously believe that Li Mei could win this one, I still vote for her. She is a character with a lot of potetial and since I am weary of the old generation of heroes and think that new characters should take a leading role, Li Mei is obviously amongst my favorites. She has nice character design, her gameplay is failrly unique (sais aside) and she was one of the best characters back in MKDA. Her storyline, also provied her an interesting conflict and if not for reboot it would be nice to see how it could have been developed, but oh well...In general, I believe she could be shaped into something much more interesting and her previous appearances in the games didn't disappointed me one bit.

Tough one, as they're two of my favourites, but I voted Quan Chi. He's a badass who's very fun to play, I'm glad he made the roster of MK9.
Both of them are great and memorable and need to be in future MK games without a doubt.

Now, this is a tough choice.
I hate, hate, HATE Quan Chi in MK9. Not because he isn't awesome, because he definately is, but his spot in Story Mode is WAAAAAY off in my opinion. He's gotten TOO much screentime and I really don't like that.
Li Mei has never been a favourite of mine, but her storyline and character overall has been pretty solid from the start. She's got a varied moveset, some graceful fighting styles and a nice fitting weapon style, her outfits have been very nice and she is more or less one of the more memorable characters from the next generation of fighters.
Quan Chi WAS awesome before MK9, but his role in that one game has made me dislike him massively which is a damn shame. So therefore, I am voting for Li Mei. I hope to see her in the next game. ^^

I'm voting Li Mei. I used to like Quan Chi prior to MK9 but his pressence just pissed me off royally to the point of no return, to the point where I've actually learned to look past my initial hatred of Li Mei just to vote against him.

However, you get the point. Not everyone can win. People are going to get cut. It would also be unfair to get rid of the most popular characters by placing them all against one another in the first round.
I mean I'm sorry but if the ending somehow got down to Dairou and Darrius or something that wouldn't be interesting. That's why I say they had to place some of the more unpopular characters against the popular characters to get rid of some of the more unpopular ones. That way they can get to the meat of the competition.

Yea, but have you guys not noticed that some really popular fights are going to come up in the second round.
Kitana vs Rain
Scorpion vs Noob Saibot
Raiden vs Fujin
Sonya vs Kano.
I'm telling you guys the first round is really just to weed out the scrubs. That's how I would have set it up too.

That's called rigging a competition, in case you didn't know.
Had those characters been put into more fair match ups, I'm sure at least half of them would have made it through, because while they suck to many, they still have a fanbase.

This first round seems so pointless. Why not just skip right to the 2nd round with all the old characters since that's clearly where this is headed? There's only three rounds that will be close, so why not just do those and call the rest since there's clearly not going to be any surprises, haha.
I'm a big fan of Tanya, Mavado, and Li Mei. Wish they could make it another round, but ah well.

Not really. Just like in sports playoffs, lower seeds get matched up against higher seeds. That's the only fair way to do it. Less popular characters shouldn't get an advantage just because their fanbase is smaller. This is a popularity contest more than anything else. People are going to pick who they like. There will also be people who pick out of spite.

The true champion is one who doesn't keep dying, to which Liu Kang has been asuming Johnny Cage's role as of late. Liu Kang was champion until Raiden fried him so... I guess... Raiden's champion?
