You're all insane. Those only befitting to be in the finals are Scorpion, Sub zero, Ermac, smoke, noob, Kitana, sindel, kabal, raiden,rain, and Cyrax.

i voted for my 2nd favorite mk character of all time which is reptile. right now he is my 1st favorite mk character. he's a ninja/lizard, he's just a savage beast. hope to see improvement with reptile in the future.

First off, Scorpion can go to hell.

Second, even though I think Sub-Zero is awesome, I don't want him in the finals, and I definitely don't want him to win. That's too obvious of a victory.

Third, Kabal is cool, but not that cool. He needs to grow more as a character.

Fourth, I don't think Rain is fit to be in the finals just yet. He needs to go find himself first. Seriously.

Fifth, Ermac deserves to go far, but not that far. Maybe the semis this time around.

Sixth, I just don't see Cyrax in the finals. Just don't.

Seventh, Kitana is already a winner in my book, so I don't care what happens with her.

Eighth, I'm not sure if Noon Saibot is that grand of a character to be in the finals. I mean, he's awesome, but is he that awesome?

Ninth, I love Smoke, especially as a human, but I don't know if he's for for the finals just yet.

Tenth, I really don't want anyone from MK1, let alone Raiden, to be in the finals. They've been here long enough. They've had their time to shine. It's time for someone else to prosper.

Eleventh, and finally, Sindel is the only character you mentioned (other than Kitana obviously) I feel deserves to be in the finals, and at extension, deserves to win.

Been anticipating this one for a while, easily the closest match up of round 1.

Reptile - The first hidden character in a fighting ever (I think), its been around for so long, took so many different appearances, yet he story never moves, I want to like him more than I do.

Ermac has steadily improved from his debut, I hope he continues to make regular roster appearances in MK, I really hope he switches to hero in MK10, so he can be badass in Storymode and then actually win a fight!

Wow, two great characters. Ermac really came in to his own in MK:D with a cool, unique look and some great special moves. He looked even better in MK2011 and he was one of the most fun characters to use overall.

Reptile has been one of the coolest concepts in MK thoughout the years. He's one of the few characters, if not the only character, that has actually evolved (or devolved, if you will) with each passing installment. They've really taken some chances with him.

Plus, Reptile was the first real hidden fighter in MK, and getting to fight him was arguably one of my coolest memories in gaming as a kid. Then again, unlocking Ermac in UMK3 on the Saturn and getting to use the man, the myth, the legend was also very cool.

Still, for me, the overall edge goes to Reptile, even if only slightly. He's a cool concept, has a cool background as the last of his kind, he becomes the Dragon King... There's just too much in his favor.

I think that Ermac will win, but if you add up the pros and cons on both sides, I think that Reptile should win. Oh well, people are gonna like who they're gonna like, I guess. It would've been nice to have seen both of these characters get to the second round, but I guess all matchups can't be against Meat or Mokap lol.

One the one had you have MK's first secret character, and on the other you have its first urban myth. Suffice it to say both characters have had a history of magnificent fatalities, developed wonderful playstyles all their own, and won them legions of well-deserved fans.

Their difference is direction. Whereas Ermac went from a Kahn grunt to a remorseful servant for good and played a key part in freeing Raiden's enslaved heroes from Onaga's control...Reptile did nothing but make poor choices time and time again, and got de-evolved to the point where he served as a vessel for Onaga's spirit. MK9 gave us a major revalation surrounding part of Ermac's identity. For Reptile....well, he's back to being a punching bag.

It's been great things for Ermac, and nothing but more of the same for Reptile. That's my deciding factor; Ermac gets this easily.

yeah reptiles cool and all. and iv already guessed who was gonna win. and they've been right except for two: tremor, wich i thought would win, and onaga, i didnt think fujin was gonna win.

Reptile.

Reptile always was my favourite ninja growing up. He was literally the first character I picked in MK2 after fanatically wanting to play as "the green ninja in the pit" from MK1 after finding him, and he was my character of choice for UMK3. That and the fact he was the most BADASS character in the movie, his fight scene with Liu Kang was legendary for me!

When Deadly Alliance came along, he changed, big time, and it was a huge risk to take for him, but I still loved the character just as I do with Mileena, Smoke and Sub-Zero in the new timeline. He became a bit more brutish, and way more unintelligent, but I couldn't bring myself to dislike him for that, especially since Zaterra's history was being highlighted that bit more with his Kirashi Sword and Nitara finding evidence of the Saurians. Admittedly though Kitana stole his limelight in that game for me and she then became my number one.

His designs have always been a bit risky, but he's had some gems too. His Shaolin Monks outfit for example is a classic, as is his alt from MK9, and personally I quite liked his MK:DA outfit (just his head seemed to throw me off). I just wish they actually let Reptile become something more than a servant. He was a pisstake in this game, literally everyone he encountered beat the crap out of him, and he didn't leave a huge impression. He deserves better than that considering he's one of the original 3 ninjas.

My vote goes to Reptile.

Wow, Reptile or Ermac; how could they do this to us, lol:

Reptile - 1st hidden fighter, the LAST of an entire Zattera race, and one wicked tongue that could do many things :) (I just miss his MK4 crawl move, I think it fit him better than any other move well not over the energy balls/acid spit)

Ermac - shares telekinesis abilities with Kenshi and even other characters use it to a small level and even characters like Fujin have similar moves using wind, yet his appearance is great. I'm glad they finally gave him a different energy ball/projectile that's different than that of Shao Khan's MK3 one.

Overall, in reality I think that Reptile deserves it more; and if this actually determines who wins MK9, for the next game, then I'd like to see Reptile finally get what he deserves and have resurrected Ankha/Kiri.

On a side note, it would be interesting to have a way of finding out how many people approximately are participating in the elections. It wouldn't be that much of an "Ultimte MK Champion" poll if there's like only 100 people in the game. I've seen polls with about 300 voters where Sub-Zero would have an edge over Scorpion and I've seen polls with about 11000 votes where Scorpion came out on top. So unless this poll musters up a hefty ammount of voters we're gonna have a good argument for modifying the title to "Ultimate MK Champion according to hardcore MK fans that hang out on "Mortal Kombat" sites while ruling out the other hundreds of thousands of simple folks who also bought the latest game".

I hope Reptile doesn't lose. He's been there since the very begining, to lose out to Ermac would really be a sad reflection of the character's legacy.

But to say, this is not a national voting poll; this is a fun contest for the MKO Kommunity. If you do want a national voting poll, which would be cool, you could try writing to G4 TV, Game Informer, or any other major gaming outlet, and ask them to conduct one.

This is gonna be a close one. Stating the obvious.

I really hope that Reptile comes back, he's ALMOST THERE, lol. He is practically MK's Mascot and has been tossed around enough between Shang Tsung, Shao Khan, Shinnok, Quan Chi, and Onaga; he at least deserves to make it to the next round!!!

I wonder what would happen if there was an actual tie in the # of votes for him and Ermac, hmm that would be interesting!!!

Aargh I dunno who to vote for. They're both meh characters too me, but I know how iconic both of them are. This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life and i'm not a big fan of either of them.

I've made my decision. I decided to vote for Reptile mostly because I feel sorry for him. He's a pushedover henchman who clings to this false hope that maybe just maybe his race can be restored. I feel pity for him and I don't think he deserves to lose this match, he already lost everything else in his life.

Reptile have a long history in MK series. He is the first hidden character, who was latred fleshed out into his own being. He is also an unique character in that his apearance changed every single game, starting from MK4. But in general my favorite appearance of his was in MK4. He looked like intelligent lizard creature, not like stupid beast or a generic green ninja. Later developers tryed to make him more lizard-like, but reaction on that decision was mixed. In terms of gameplay he also changed constantly and, aside from MK4, I never was good with him, MK9 is not an exception. He is uncomfortable to use in this game as ever. Storywise he standing on the very same ground for the last 20 years. It is stupid and unneccesary, bit it seems Reptile will be eternally left in the state of perpetual pucnhing bag and looser.

Ermac, on the other hand, was a rumor given flesh. Aside form telekinesis and "rich" history he didn't anything to him. But in MKD he received radical redesign, making him one of the best designed characters in MK ever. His storyline also was improved and Ermac become one of the most important characters in the story, being directly tied with former protagonist - Liu Kang. In MK9 his role was once again expanded, now making him potentially one of the most important characters in Outworld / Edenia.

Reptile as he is now is stagnation incaranted. He is cool in his own right, but ultimately boring and his designs and gameplay take some time to get used to. Ermac - is essentially incarnated evolution. Since his "redesign" in MKD he only progressed becoming more interesting and more important character to the series. Also, his designs were awesome and gameplay was more or less easy to access. Since I prefer evolution, I choose Ermac.
