Well honestly, the characters that have been around for a longer amount of time to shine, that had more opportunities to develop their personalities and storylines, and that appeared in more video games, thus were actually in the hands of the average player more so than other characters, have an edge. And that "quality" is their senior status.

I actually was pretty indifferent towards him in MK3 (my first MK game). He had cool moves, but otherwise...he wasn't really special. In MKA he was redesighned to the point that it was hard to tell who he is. In MK9 he was finally done justice. MK-Team once again demonstrated that with appropriate time and effort even generally hated third rate character could become awesome.

As for Mokap - he is a cute tribute to the motion capture actors. While good and honorable idea, I don't think that this was really neccesary and besides his design was not really interesting. His specials were cool, but they have been taken from other characters, so no points for originality here either. In general I don't hate him - there are plenty of characters who are really dislike, but Mokap is not one of them. However, I don't see much chances for him in the future - such character should either stay as he is or be completely redone...to the point where final version wouldn't have anything in common with the original idea. Cue Stryker's design from MKA.

Hey, same here. If it came down between Sindel and Kenshi, I'd go with Kenshi, despite the fact that I enjoy Sindel a great deal. Old-school's got nothing to do with it. It's just a matter of a lot of the later cast members being absolute ass, so there's no way I'd vote for them.

I guess it is a question about taste, but I actually liked characters like Li Mei, Kenshi, Hotaru, Havik, Ashrah, Nitara and some of the other next-gen characters. They just didn't have enough time to develop like some of the old-school ones. I hope to see many of them in the next game with a cool new style and more developed. ^^

Agreed Jaded. All of those characters you mentioned are some of the better characters of MK in my opinion. They really didn't get a chance to develop though. I always felt that Kenshi, Li Mei, and Mavado defined a new generation of MK when they came along. Like I've said before I would have made Mavado a Kung Lao sort of character to kenshi having known him before he was blind or something. I always saw Kenshi as the new protagonist, even though people disagree with that. It's possibly because Liu Kang died at the same time Kenshi was introduced. Also Li Mei seemed like the new female lead to me despite Sonya and Kitana being in the same game.

Those three always stood out to me as really good characters and had huge potential. Along with the others you mentioned like Nitara, Havik, and Hotaru. Havik and Hotaru really represented their realms respectively and since Chaos and Order realms were new at the time it was good that they did that. Some of these characters are really great and have huge potential but people overlook them because of Nostalgia glasses. I think it was just bad characters like Dairou, Darrius, Kobra, Taven, and Daegon who made that generation of characters look bad. No offense to fans of those characters I just felt they didn't really fit with MK. I felt like Kobra looked like something out of street fighter. Dairou just looked out of place period to me. While Darrius, Taven, and Daegon all looked more like comic book characters than something out of MK. There were some really good characters from MK4-MKA but people look over them because of some of the bad ones introduced.

Hopefully Mk10 will reintroduce some of those characters and give them some glory. I just hope Sub-Zero is there to see it, and in human form.lol

Well he is a street fighter. He's a NYC thug who kills people for shits and giggles. That screams Mortal Kombat to me, not Street Fighter. I thought MK fans loved simple backstories and mindless violence. I've always thought he could have fit right into MK1.



I don't think Capcom owns the rights to a white gi or blonde hair. And really, it's not like any of those MK1 characters were totally original. Kind of funny how there are people who would love to have Nimbus Terrafaux in MK, yet absolutely hate the idea of Kobra. When they're essentially the same. Darrius, too.

Anyway, I voted Stryker.

Eh, mayber your right. I just find those certain characters so vanilla as far as story goes. They just didn't fit to me. I guess one man's trash is another's treasure though. Personally they weren't my cup of tea, and when MK10 rolls around then I hope they aren't there. That's just my personal taste though.

Darrius could be an exception, he looks semi cool. He just reminds me of some kind of blade wannabe or something.

If Nimbus Terrafaux was introduced and he looked like Kobra and had a better backstory I would be fine with it. I've said they should introduce Nimbus before I admit, they just drop the terrafaux though. They should just give little more thought into it though besides a ninja looking guy. My thoughts on Nimbus is his head looks exactly like Kobra's. However, He looks more like a samurai warrior. He has a wrap up to his neck. He has a white robe with long white pants. really baggy white pants and he wields a sword. That's just what nimbus looks like to me. He also rides the clouds, get it Nimbus.lol. Another pun.

Yaknow, honestly, Jade vs Skarlet will be the first one that I really don't know yet who I'm going to pick. Granted, for a few minutes I wasn't sure on the current one, before I realized that Mokap will ALWAYS be nothing more than a joke, while Stryker can, and has, become something slightly more.
