Sidenote: Ok this has to be the most UNFAIR match-up by FAR. Johnny Cage, everybody's favorite douche. Vs. Kobra, a Ken look a like who had terrible reception. I know most of the round one match-ups are unbalanced, but this one takes the cake. Well at least.... Until Meat vs. Mileena that is.

Up until MK9 I didn't really care about him, aside form his movie incarnation, which was awesome. In the main series he was just a shallow clown. It was hard to take him seriously as character and as a fighter, what with his all stupid bravado and other stuff. However, after MK9 Cage become one of my favorite old characters. He was certainly the STAR of the story mode. Writers managed to find a perfect balance between making Cage comic relief and having him as actually powerfull warrior with a good heart and head on his shoulders, not that thing whatever he was in MK4-MKDA. They have nailed his personality 100% right, I think. It sorta like in the movie, but still quite different, so its not just simple copying or something. While I don't really like his first costume it's just a minor flaw. And his second costume is awesome. I like his new backstory, and hope that writers will elaborate on it in the future.

As for Kobra - I never liked him. Much like Darrius second costume, Kobra is a kind of reference to the Kung Fu movies, mixed with quite obvious Take That at the Street Fighter. However, being walking reference / taunt wasn't enough in his case to become something interesting. He is a bland character, with boring design and with boring special moves. He didn't contribute nothing to the story of MKD, aside from being an obvious mate for Kira and once again that's not enough to make him interesting. Overall, much like Dairou and Darrius, I consider Kobra to be on of the worst MK characters ever and obviously my vote goes to Johhny Cage.

Cage has always been one of my favourites to play as, and I thought they nailed him in MK9. One of my top go-to characters. And as much issues as I have with the costume design in the game, I thought his was great (Even with the tattoo). His alt with player 2 colours is classy as heck.

I have no major problem with Kobra. I could live without seeing him again, but I don't think he's beyond redemption. His alt costume was cool and I liked his backstory. Like many characters, he just needs a new moveset.

My reasoning is satirical.

For round one: Kenshi vs. Nightwolf, Reptile vs. Ermac, and Motaro vs. Goro, Sheeva vs. Kintaro, Ashrah versus Nitara, and Smoke vs. Sektor are probably the only ones I don't have a 100% certainty about the outcome for.

I'm thinking Kenshi, Ermac, Motaro, Kintaro, Smoke.

I really don't know where the MK community stands for Ashrah vs. Nitara.

My vote will be with Ashrah.

I'm voting Reptile when he's against Ermac. I don't understand why he doesn't have as much love as he should, he's one of the iconic 3 classical ninjas.

I think Reptile is going up against Khameleon and not Ermac.. Because Ermac Vs Kenshi makes sense because they both use telekinesis.
