Why Kitana is a terrible ruler of Edenia?
She nearly crushed Kahn's forces, leading to his escape from his own fortress. And we talking old good megalomaniac nearly invincible Shao Kahn here.
Her death at the hands of DA wasn't actually her fault as the subsequent invasion of Onaga. There is actually nothing that made her a bad ruler.
Hm, I protect Kitana, though I am not really big fan of her. Funny, how the things turned out.

Harle likes Sindel and would rather see her on top than Kitana. A bit of fanboyism perhaps, but everyone wants to see their favourite characters rise above the others.
However, I agree with you that Kitana was a good ruler and warchief of Edenia in the old timeline. Sindel has experience on her side, but she already failed as a ruler when Shao Kahn took over Edenia and merged it with Outworld. I would prefer to see Kitana on the throne.

Less fanboyism and more of a strong dislike of Kitana. I don't even want Sindel's story to continue with her as just the Queen of Edenia... I've said before that my wishes for Sindel are for some kind of weird spirit journey sort of thing in the afterlife with Nightwolf that transforms her entirely once she completes it but... That's a tale for another time! I just don't like Kitana because she's too standard. She's about as complex as putting on your socks (though, admittedly, I have put socks on inside out before). Putting her in the leadership role demotes her even further, it basically determines exactly what she's going to do in any and all situations, something that would not happen to a more dynamic character (not necessarily Sindel, but definitely not Kitana).

A spiritual journey for Sindel with Nightwolf's spirit as the guide would be a nice storyline twist for the both of them.
As Kitana is now, she is indeed standard, but she like Sindel have room to grow and become something more, especially now in this new timeline. Putting Sindel on the throne and have Kitana just be princess would just be stale though and wouldn't help any of the characters.

Couldn't agree more.
It is time for Sindel to accell (or whatever the word is) in her duties to Edenia and let her daughter take her rightful place as Queen. I think this may possibly secure Edenia's safety against Shinnok's impending invasion.

True, she certainly ain't helping anyone as princess. I'll concede that if Sindel can expand, so can Kitana (and I suppose she should)... So, when Sindel is off doing all of the wonderful things she could be doing, Kitana can stop being princess. Win/win. Or, the next game will come around and they'll both be dead. *shrugs*...

Though, if by weird chance the MK team were keeping an eye on this thread, perhaps they'd see fan enthusiasm for characters we don't normally hear a lot of love for.
Fingers crossed they've noticed the fanbase that Reiko has and give him the pimp treatment they gave Rain in MK9. That would be swell, especially if we get to see more of that FINE ASS! XD
(I'll stop now going on about a fictional character's ass. Strykers is better anyway)

Bosses in games are there to be killed. I have killed Shao Kahn many times with Reiko and many other characters.
Story wise, Shao Kahn might be more powerful than Reiko, but I believe Reiko would be the one on top in the end if the two of them were to meet in Mortal Kombat. Reiko just generally seems smarter than Shao Kahn and would outwit him, though it would be a long and brutal battle indeed.

Shao Kahn!
So far, all the characters I've picked have been the winners.
The reason I'm picking them is because I really don't care for most of the post-DA characters, and the storyline of Deception and Armageddon just had me going "WTF?!?" for the most part.
As such, as far as I'm concerned, nothing good came out of those two games, including the characters. This actually made picking the initial fights quite easy. The Kahn/Reiko one is also easy for me, because Reiko was pretty pathetic, IMO, in MK4.
