Raiden!!

I just want to say that I really like reading the forum posts here, a lot of you guys put a good deal of thought into your voting. :)

I said earlier that I voted Raiden, and this is one of the only times I've purposely voted against a certain character. Don't get me wrong, though, I love Sub-Zero. He's on my top ten list, and Raiden isn't, but I wanted to at least give the thunder god a chance. A lot of people thought he was stupid in Story Mode. I just thought he was afraid and acting on best intentions for his realm. In the end, he succeeded in saving Earthrealm, even with the sacrifices of the heroes, and even goes on to ignore his grief to go tend to the fallen and get Earthrealm back on its feet. Good job, Raiden.

.. I have to admit that I hated Raiden's gameplay in MK9, but I didn't like Sub-Zero's either, so that wasn't a huge factor in deciding for me anyway.

Voted Raiden. I really liked him in MK2011 and use him a lot more than Subby.

Agreed with just about everything here. I didn't think that Raiden was stupid. I just thought that he got a message from his future self and clearly the decisions he made ended badly. So he basically had to try and figure out what he did wrong before actually doing it, all the while trying to figure out what he, himself meant by "he must win."

That was sort of the impression that I had. I thought that he was a very good character in terms of the story. I liked that they made him desperate toward the end to the point of offering the souls of Earth's warriors to Quan Chi, again, out of desperation. You actually got to see him fall a little bit, and that was character development that most characters didn't get in the story.

I also agree with you on the gameplay though. I wasn't really taken with Sub Zero or Raiden played. They were both solid, adequate, maybe a little on the dull side. Not bad, but neither are characters that I rush to play as by any means.

As for your enjoyment of other people's posts? Same here. Lot's of people giving great reasons and/or reasons I never thought about. It's been fun thus far and while it looks like Sub's gonna win, it's still been a good time-sink.

I for one enjoy reading your posts as well. You always seem to have something positive and/or insightful to say. So props to ya.

I think it's funny that people have accepted Subby will win. So it's fine if Sub wins but not Scorpion? Hmmmmmmm

I just find it amusing that people are ok with Sub winning but not Scorpion. They are both the poster boys, so why is it ok if Sub wins but Scorp doesn't? One could argue it's because Sub has a better story but I won't make that argument.

Oh, and I don't want to vote because it's just ninjas now. I have no biases towards the ninjas in this contest.

Sub-Zero does have a far better storyline, while scorpion has been doing the same thing since mk1. I wonder who people think should win Kung lao? baraka? or maybe the amazing Dairou

That's exactly how I feel. People were complaining about a predictable outcome, yet they have already accepted the most predictable outcome.

Hey, please don't bring that hipster thing back again. You are probably not a freaking hipster if you'll go with Raiden. I don't like the "insulting" of the opposing voters anyway. Insulting the "opposing VG character" is another thing – but everything in moderation. Oftentimes I'm just toying with the voting system rather than voting for whom I would like the most, for fun.
As a concept I like Raijin more but MK8 and MK9 barely gave any justice for him. Submission-Zero is cool and all. But for this time – probably for the last time – I'll vote for the one I like less because I'd also personally distribute 2/5 of my liking to Raiden and the rest to Kuai. Not because I want to be different but because I am different, in a good way that is.

Scorpion is an overall suckish character. Sub-Zero has substance and is an interesting character. It has nothing to do if they are poster boys or not. At least not to me.

You're generalizing here. Were there people who didn't want a Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion final? Yes.

Well as you can see, there isn't going to be a Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion final. Just because some didn't want that particular pair to be matched up doesn't mean they didn't want one or the other in the "final"against someone else. You can go back several pages to see people arguing why they prefer Sub-Zero over Scorpion (in most cases). Thus, one can infer from this that those people were more likely to vote for Sub-Zero and against Scorpion.

They're all individual characters. Some have links to one another, but a vote for Sub-Zero isn't also a vote for Scorpion. I guess I just don't see what the big deal is. This is just for fun. You could do a similar poll on a number of different sites and forums and get different results for each. For those complaining, if it was "so obvious" why are you guys even participating in the "tournament?" It's not even over yet. If Sub-Zero takes out Raiden he still has to go up against Ermac or Noob Saibot., both of whom have strong followings. Plus you can add those voters who will simply vote against Sub-Zero.

Fortunately for SubZero, he gets votes from casual and bandwagon fans for being a blue "ninja", serious fighting game fans for gameplay, and people who love the story. That's just too much to overcome for other characters who are actually better in some areas, but not as many as Subbie. He's my favorite and I vote with a open mind and respect to others favorites. Ironically my second fav is Noob. I love his story and tie in to Sub Zero. One of my most memorable moments waiting for MK9 was win NetherRealm released that Noob trailer. Bricks were shat and I know alot of you remember the hype.
