Oh, I see what you're saying, no, he is no other Sub-Zero. Basicaly, the entire character isn't canon. His ending is Non-canonical, and it does refer to him being the MK1 Sub-Zero. The only reason his ending is considered Non-canon, however, is that it states he won the tournament. On everything else in the ending, it is 100% canon. Actually, here's a site that might help: legoslayer10 Wrote:
Well, as you know, the MK1 Sub-Zero isn't the MK2 Sub-Zero. The MK1 Sub-Zero is now Noob Saibot, with a real name of Bi-Han. His younger brother, the main Sub-Zero in the series, is named Kuai Liang. Bi-Han was still Sub-Zero in the first tournament, but was, in fact, killed by Scorpion in revenge. This Classic Sub-Zero is basically just Noob-Saibot with his original ice-powers. No Classic Sub-Zero is just the original Sub-Zero, there is no third.

It will, because I help manage it. I know what goes on. So trust me, it's a good site.

[...]I've thought about that too. I agree with legoslayer10 that he was most likely supposed to be Bi-Han MK1 Sub-Zero but became non-canon because 1) there were quite a lot of ninjas to distribute in future games by MK4 already 2) they created Frost the female cryomancer for MK:DA 3) during MK:D they probably decided that "Hey, let's combine these characters for 10% more coolness!" just as they did with Jerrod and Great Kung Lao now. Classic Sub-Zero exists even today in MK9 Vita however, but his story aspect has been retconned away until otherwise claimed.
Lol, they really didn't have any plans for UMK3's masked Sub apart from "get a piece of classic mileage out of the sprite and work it out next time".
You know, what with how decent they were at following up on most things from MK3 later on, even if it took years, I'm surprised they never revisited it. I remember all sorts of theories about him back in the day, from Johnny Cage to the original Kung Lao. Ah, wild times...these days I just look at it as being Noob running around in his old outfit for whatever reason.
It's often crossed my mind that in the original timeline, we never really got an explanation for when exactly it was Sub found out Noob was Bi-Han; considering MK2011 has it happen during the invasion, maybe we're supposed to retroactively look at UMK3 Sub that way...but that's just my own hyperactive imagination. Easiest to just write him off as being as non-canon as Smoke's human form in that game.

Are you like, five or something? Knock it off.
Anyways, I doubt Shang Tsung is going to make a comeback by later on today.
Would be nice to see him advance but, oh well. I guess it's just because he really hasn't done anything to make him threat-worthy like he was since the first two games. Granted that I wrote that he is my favorite villain, it doesn't mean that I know he's the greatest villain.
I really wanted him to have a great role in this game, unfortunately, Quan Chi made more of an impression as the sorcerer than Shang. Even though Quan Chi is another favorite of mine, I will say, he had more time than Shang... Kinda wished he didn't.
Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, so I won't beg for more votes for Shang Tsung... Although I don't beg other users to vote who I want, then there will be total chaos coming about.

Knock off the irrelevant quips. It doesn't make a good impression.

I highly doubt Shang Tsung is going to win at this point. Oh well.
Shang Tsung's morphing abilities is one of my favorite parts about him. The fact he can transform into any character is a good plus for me. In MK9, I can Soul Steal the opponent and play as the opponent's fighter for 5 seconds with a damage boost. Feels good to switch my playstyles for a bit, 'specially if they happen to be a fighter I'm good with.
I once played a game when I was younger, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2. Main character was a former blood-sucking vampire turned into a soul-devouring wraith. That game left an impression on me, because after that point, I found a new liking for Shang Tsung's need to consume souls to sustain himself.
Shang Tsung is tied for my favorite MK character with Noob Saibot.

It's a battle of world warriors! Hailing from Prague, Smoke is said to have been recruited into the Lin Kuei for showing signs of his abilities at an early age. From Hong Kong, Liu Kang was trained for his purpose as as Champion of Mortal Kombat since childhood, by the Shaolin Monks who adopted him. Can the four-time champ fulfill his comeback, or will his whispy opponent prove too elusive? Round 3 kontinues!

You might want to fix up the main poll, you accidentally spaced Shang Tsung below, making it look weird.

By the way, daryui, I find it particularly funny that sometimes you state that you hate Human Smoke (hating a VG character, eh?) and sometimes that you love Cyber Smoke. That's pretty conflicting because without Human Smoke there wouldn't be Cyber Smoke. Anyway, do whatever you want (this is a fun competition surely) but your premises are mindblowing.
I'll vote for Tomas Vrbadass over the turkey of course.

Good morning everyone!
I voted for Smoke only because Liu Kang is a bit overrated.
In the early days, he could have easily been crowned the ultime champion of the MK tournament. Since then, the MK series has developed and grown and his supremacy has dwindled. I also really hated undead (zombie) Liu Kang as well.

Smoke.
He really surprised me in this game and he almost instantly became a favourite of mine. I agree that he could have some more special moves, but I really enjoy those he has and it is fun to make up combos with them. ^^
I have never been that much interested in him in earlier games, but I love how he is in the newest game. So props to him. ^^
Liu Kang is... Liu Kang. Never cared much for him.

That might be how you go about it, but I'd rather wait until later to see what ACTUALLY happens as opposed to just assuming it's happened until I find out differently.
Again, there are too many things that don't happen as far as endings are concerned to simply believe all of them. I mean, what about MK4, when Jarek killed Sonya in his ending and Sonya killed him in hers? Was I supposed to believe that both of those endings happened until MK:DA?
