Ermac were never a ninja. Ermac are the whole clan. Get it right people. They are many. Tsung is but one. Or probably two now.

Ermac have basically become a "one" man-clan. The strength of countless souls enveloped into one single being, souls of unknown origin, for the most part. Ermac are not ninja, they are mystics, almost now a wizard of sorts, so thus, Ermac arenow not ninja to me, but a clan of elite mystics in one body. (Yes, that would be correct grammar). Tsung created Ermac, but the student often surpasses his master.

Love both these characters. Shang Tsung has really grown on me and has been probably the funnest character to play as in MK9. HOWEVER, Ermac has always been one of my absolute favorite characters. I remember being a little kid and me and my friends would crowd around the UMK3 arcade machine and wait for Ermac to fight in the little demo battles because we didn't have any quarters tongue Good times.

Although his costume was just OK in MK9 i still vote for him, I think his story line has a ton of potential and have enjoyed it thus far.

Yep. Bios in MK unchained, specifically Jax's, elaborate on the fact that Liu Kang freed the Earthrealm warriors from Onaga's control, and we see that happening in Ermac's ending (it's even mentioned in his own bios that he teams with Kang), so that's part of the canon. As for Ermac having Jerrod's soul in him, there's something of a history of things that are revealed in endings happening, even if the entirety of the ending doesn't (Kabal goes vigilante even if he doesn't beat Shao Kahn, as a rough example).

We won't know until the future if they actually plan to go anywhere with Jerrod being in there, but for now it's one of this game's 'surprise revealed facts', along the lines of Smoke being an enenra and Kung Lao being a direct reincarnation of the original Kung Lao (which makes no damn sense to me and I hope never gets brought up again). It doesn't specifically require Ermac's ending to have happened. It's just 'something new about him', and it actually serves very well in making Ermac's initial regret over the time spent under Kahn all the more believable. It was one of my favorite reveals (I know I'm not the only person who wondered whether or not Jerrod was part of Ermac's soul union way back when MK trilogy came out!)

As of now I'd say it's a canon factoid unless they say otherwise, as there's no real reason not to.

I loved that Shang was a big bad again in MKDA, but MKD's opening totally undercut that for me. They even had Quan throttling him with one hand. I mean...damn. :(

You don't know how hard I pray for an 'MK Origins' game set during the initial tournaments when the Great Kung Lao and Shang had their dukes up....


Ha! No kidding. I owned Unchained and played the crap out of it. You'd think I'd remember something like that. Thanks for cluing me in man!

The problem with saying that Ermac's ending is canon now until they say otherwise is that it opens a lot of doors that might or might not be opened. I agree that Jerrod being in Ermac was a really cool ending, just like the idea of Bo Rai Cho training Shang Tsung to be the Chosen One seems freakin awesome to me.

But maybe it's just me, and if you disagree, that's totally cool, but I just discount all endings until something is mentioned either in a profile or in story mode or something along those lines. There's just too much stuff that hasn't happened from those endings for me to say "that happened until I hear otherwise." But again, that's just me.

I can't agree more. That was absolutely insane. All the other polls were pretty straight forward. That poll seemed to be going straight-forward too, and then the Jade fans started voting more, craziness, looked like Jade was going to take it, then it flipped again, then there was overtime and
ugh.
I really hope we don't get a repeat of that any time.

Anyway I voted for Ermac though I loved Shang in this game. Ermac is just the only ninja along with Rain that appealed to me from the first time i saw his powers! Shang is someone that recently grew on me. I really hated him in MKDA and never really cared for him in the first 3 games...

hes being pretty counter productive not to mention a bit annoying. And using gay in what seems to be a negative context. I totally get the skulls.

If ermac takes this round but loses the next im totally happy with it. They did very well. I hope sonya at least ends with at least 40 percent.
