Ermac.

Shang Tsung is classic and everything, but he is tired old horse. Instead of evolving like Quan Chi, he eventually stopped. His designs are good, but in the last game he wasn't his at his best. His costumes in MKDA and MK/DC were better. His gameplay is akward and even return of the morphs doesn't make him much better. I don't see what could've been done with him storywise. I think he is out of potential and should be put to rest. At least for some time.

Ermac become popular very fast and now can rival even classic characters. His designs were consistently awesome and, unlike some others, he severed all ties with "copy-ninjas" from classic period of the series. Being a wild card, he has tremendous story potential, especially now, when it was revealed that he consists from souls of Edenian warriors. And the fact that he is essentially Jerrod could make him one of the most important characters in the series.

Although I hate how people spam Ermac in the new game, he's a more interesting character to me than Shang Tsung. I was never a fan of him. I figured though Ermac would win this round. Besides, I'm more interested in finding out how the Sonya v. Noob fight will play out

Despite that I really enjoyed Ermac in the latest game, it took me up until now to appreciate him.

So, I'm going for Shang Tsung. I've always loved this character. He's my favorite villain.

Shang Tsung is a fu*king legend, so he definitely gets my vote.

Never really been an Ermac fanatic. Although, I am positive that Ermac will defeat Tsung. Many of the new MK fans really dig Ermac, and dislike Shang because they never really got to see him at his best.

I'm voting Shang Tsung because if anything, Ermac got on my tits in MK9. They tried too hard to make him "bad ass", it all felt very forced. Plus I think shang got a bit of a raw deal when Kahn merged his soul with Sindel, so I think he's due some props.

Ermac all the way. He just has too much power to not be able to destroy everyone on the roster. Telekenisis. He could reverse projectiles though he doesnt do so in game. He can shrink bitches. He can fly. He can control opponent movements. He will rip off your god damned arms.

Shang tsung is a weak pathetic codependent fool. If hes not latched on shao kahns balls hes all up on quan chi.

Just curious, but in what way do you think Ermac has a better story than Shang Tsung?

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're saying. When I think of storyline, I think of a character's background and profile as well as what he actually does in the canon story from game to game.

It's cool that Ermac is made entirely of souls and all, but it's not like his MK:D ending actually happened, so what has he actually done storywise that makes you think he has a better storyline than Shang Tsung?

Again, Shang Tsung was the final boss in MK1, regained his youth to lure Earth's warriors to Outworld for the 2nd tournament, turned on Shao Khan and killed his double along with Liu Kang after teaming up with Quan Chi. He also created Milleena (sorry, I was wrong about Ermac, as he was created by Shao Khan), if I'm not mistaken.

But really, storywise, I put the two side by side and it's not even close. Shang Tsung is the original sorcerer and schemer and a main part of the plot in several MK games while Ermac's basically a male version of Skarlett only made of souls instead of blood.

I don't mean to insult such a great character (and I do think he's a great character) but I guess I just don't see why so many are voting for him over Shang Tsung.

If Ermac was still just a palette swap ninja, I wouldn't vote for him.

I am voting Ermac. Love Shang Tsung and all but they ruined him twice, once in MKD making him look like a bitch, and MK9 just pointlessly killing him off.

Gameplay wise they were both rather good.

I prefer Ermac as he is in the recent games, because he is less a "ninja" and more a mystic. Shang Tsung is alright, I prefer his MK3 gameplay, but his MKDA look, however, I have never been a big fan of his storyline. He's just a typical villain who turns ut to just be a minion after all. He did better in MKDA though, but like mentioned earlier, he's old news now.

Ermac is blossoming slowly, turning more and more interesting as a character and he started out as random minion #7 in UMK3. He was one of my least liked characters back then and now he is one of my most well-liked characters. I hope NRS explores the connection between him and the One Being in the next game, which was hinted at in MKD.

Oh I agree that Ermac is interesting. Ermac is getting better with every game. Ermac has a bright future for himself.
