Found it.

Raiden's MKD Bio in full:

==========================================
"I was well aware of Onaga, the former ruler of Outworld. Shao Kahn had been his advisor until he poisoned the Dragon Kingand stole Outworld for himself. But Onaga had somehow returned, more powerful than before. His powers seemed augmented by a force previously exhibited only by the Elder Gods. Even the might of the Deadly Alliance combined with my own could not defeat him. I did the only thing I could: I released my godlike essence in an attempt to destroy them all.

BY THE TIME MY ENERGIES REFORMED IN EARTHREALM, I was aware of all that had transpired. I became disgusted with the doings of mortals. It was Shujinko's vanity and desire for glory that had led to the return of the Dragon King. I will no longer allow the will of men to determine the fate of this realm. They will fight for it, or I will destroy them. All will fear the new God of Thunder."
==========================================

Nothing really solid, but he talks of it as if its nothing and it was expected. Perhaps protectors of realms have higher benefits than regular gods? Perhaps If you die in another realm, its null and you return to your realm? (speaking of gods only)

Explains why he likes war and conquering so much.

That would be my first guess. Especially after Khameleon's MKA bio established that Kahn seems to gain strength from battle, sorta like how Dark Kahn got stronger every time someone used THE RAGE! in MKvsDCU.

I just wanna hear them say it. (By "it", I mean what Kahn is god of, not THE RAGE!)

From Fujin's MKA bio:

"It is unclear to me what has caused the transformation in our friend and ally Raiden. I have conversed with gods from other realms about the possible reasons for his madness. Rumors abound that he may have sacrificed himself to defeat Onaga. But if that were true, his energies would have dispersed and then reformed in Earthrealm. His spirit would have been reborn, having no memories of the past. He would have become a new god of thunder, neither good nor evil. Yet this new Raiden is dark, acting with a clear goal to defend the realm, but with the ruthlessness of Shao Kahn."

And here's a hint as to WHY Raiden's rebirth was tainted and he came back dark, from Shang Tsung's MKA bio:

"In an instant, Raiden's blast destroyed us all! Our souls intertwined, we did battle in the ether. But I was drawn away by a magic more powerful than death."

As much as I actually liked MKDC, I hope I never hear THE RAGE!! again, lol.
I agree, I'm pretty sure 60 some odd people all fighting in an enclosed crater would give someone like Kahn enough war juju to make him go apeshit on people. Not to mention he owned like half the cast in the MKA intro alone. tongue
Kahn's a frigging beast.

Woah... That's honestly Puzzling.

after thinking, Kahn wasn't written back into the story at that point. They could have been Juggling with the idea of him Tainting Raiden from within(perhaps from the Soulnado right at the moment of suicide). If you look at the leaks (you have and know already), the Incidents that happen with Nightwolf come to mind. Perhaps the same way?

They could have been gearing up Kahn to be within Raiden causing an internal battle for control. At the time, I don't think Kahn or Goro were even planned, much less a GC version.

Then Gamecube happened.

Just a thought.

No, no, Fujin's bio here was written and released after Armageddon came out, which was way after the Gamecube version of Deception. So Kahn was already established as never dead. The whole "he's behaving like Kahn" thing isn't meant to imply Raiden is literally possessed by Kahn, it's meant to illustrate he's starting down the same path Kahn did when he went mad and killed Onaga long ago.

Deception Konquest established that, back when he was Onaga's advisor, Kahn was benevolent "like Raiden", and that something mysteriously twisted him one day.
The "our" in "our souls intertwined" is the Deadly Alliance. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi's souls rubbed off on Raiden's when he blew the three of them up in the MKD opening.

durrr.

Forgot that the idea piggybacked off of an MKA bio. That's insane. The Canon implies they are of the same race right? or was that also something else?

gotta admit, loving this thread right now

Yes, according to a Deception Konquest easter egg (backwards speech from a Netherealm or Chaosrealm NPC re-reversed. ]{0mbat has a sound clip of it, I know 'cause he posted it a long time ago and I listened to it...but I asked him to send it to me once and he never replied back, the jerk...), Raiden, Shao Kahn, and Lucifer - the guy who ruled the Netherealm before Shinnok and Quan Chi conquered it, are all members of the same race.

Specifically, that race is "god" and combined with some of the stuff Damashi tells Shujinko about how Kahn used to be just like Raiden is to Earthrealm, it implies that what Shao Kahn REALLY was, when he was acting as Onaga's advisor, was Protector-God of Outworld.

That would explain why we don't see a different god guarding. at least on the main stage. Hes a god-protector turned conqueror.

makes me wonder,

What happened in Edenia? No protector?

Argus is the protector of Edenia.

Either he was faking being dead because Daegon "killed" him, or he simply couldn't do a damn thing to stop the fact that Edenia lost ten Mortal Kombats. Rules are rules.

Argus, and for whatever reason, he did diddly squat pretty much.
Except father Rain, lol.

It can't be Shinnok, Elder Gods aren't gods OF things, they're gods of omnipotence.

True.

On the other hand,I got the impression that gods of things aren't powerful enough to create realms at will. So a "God of Chaos" creating Chaosrealm shouldn't really work. Then again... Did Zaterra always exist,or was it something Raiden created after the first Raptor Genocide so he can relocate the survivors there? I seem to recall something like that...

Maybe NRS'll eventually elaborate on the Elder Gods and have them be gods of concepts (Light,Dark,Chaos, etc.) as opposed to elements and stuff.

That kind of bothers me a bit. Because when you think about it,doesn't it make Kahn and Raiden...

Well it all comes full circle. I don't honestly believe Bi-Han could just defeat multiple gods. Everything applies to everything, the more we learn about the elder god, the more we learn about gods, teaches us about how characters can interact with them also. Power balance..

MK is MK, believe it or not, somehow, this all will end up relating to Kira.

1) The God of Chaos didn't actually create Chaosrealm, he turned a perfectly ordinary world into one where the laws of nature no longer apply, rocks float, people can survive gaping wounds, everyone is psycho, etc. And no, Zaterra always existed. Raiden had nothing to do with helping the Raptors immigrate there.

No, the gods don't have familial relations because the Elder Gods don't give birth, they wink things into existence. If they did view each other in a familial sense, they'd be closest and most "related" to the ones from the same realm. Raiden's brother would be Fujin.

Oh, and Casselman...

Bi-Han totally did defeat 4 gods legit. Consider that they were in mortal forms, just like Raiden has to take in every single game. The gods can't really interact with mortals without assuming mortal bodies.
And Raiden is just as defeatable in battle as anybody else in the games because of that limitation. People assume there's a giant power level gap between Raiden and everybody else...there's really not. Otherwise, why wouldn't he have boss character health and strength?

When Frost froze herself, Subby took the medallion back. Otherwise, she'd still have it in Armageddon and her powers would be better. But no, the medallion is worn on Subby's alt costume in Deception and his primary in Armageddon.
