It's a shame people can't bow out gracefully and instead have to attack people for voting their opinions. People are two faced for voicing their honest opinions? Wow...

When you enter contests the only expectation you should have is to enjoy them.

Myself personally, I expect to lose in this tournament, but I don't care because it's for fun, would I like to win? Yes, but I realize that there are great entries here and even if a character that some consider to be a "humorous or a joke" character beats me, it's because of the majority of the Community and the judges and I'd be okay with that and I would congratulate my opponent instead of attacking the democratic votes.

Several people have forgotten that at the end of the day, this is for fun and nothing more.

Best of luck to all contestants, lets get back to actually having fun, which is what this tournament is for anyway.

For some... This was a shining moment for those who spent days, months and even years on their characters. Just for them to be snuffed out by something made in 5 minutes.

Even MK's joke-ish characters have a plausible story line with months work put into them.

But I must be the only person that took this competition serious. Maybe too serious.

It's like we talk but you choose to ignore is. How about instead of getting defensive and lashing out at whoever, you actually think about this whole competition and things you have control over that you can improve on?

Improve? Sorry but, good characters have gone out to characters that really would not fit in the MK universe.
All the talk of people voting for character that they believe WOULD fit, kind of went out the window from the start.

I held on the the notion of what "these" people said they was looking for. But seems "these" people don't really know what they are looking at.

So I will not enter any more KAK competitions until it is taken seriously.

For most of you (99.9% of you), this will be a joyful time for me to not participate in future KAK comps. Bully for you.

Have a nice day.

For the record, I thought up the name of my character years ago but came up with everything else about him in like, an hour or so during the timefame to submit him into the contest. And yet I am not worried about anything. ...Well, then I guess you're SOL.

Hey Jagro, I just wanted to say that Kortika is a wonderful addition to the tournament and I enjoyed his special moves, artwork and the overall character presentation, our match starts sometime tonight, so I just wanted to say may the best man(or crab) win and best of luck to you.grin

You can't win everything. Lose gracefully and be eager to come back with something better next time. Whining about it and calling everyone who didn't vote for you stupid and 'not taking it seriously ' is less than elegant. .

Serious? Better? Better than a crab-man from the moon that uses "moon-cheese" as a bargaining tool? HAHA!

No thanks... I'm done with this competition and future KAK comps.

If Krustacean can beat off two every good characters that had 90% more going for them, then the concept of finding a character that would fit into the MK universe is very worrying indeed.

Maybe I should think up a character in 5 minutes to post in? Like a Shark-man character that was sent to pluto where he now makes cream cake. Interesting? Oh... To some of you it is... I have no faith in this competition what so ever and fear for it's future.

And so what if I whine about my loss?! Like I said, if it was against a character like Black Widow, I would have been fine with that. So I am not going off on one just because I lost.

Ok... I like to create a lot of different concepts. Be it characters or movie ideas. I have always been a little (HA) serious about it.

I am creating a concept for a zombie movie which has taken me 2 years so far. All that is left now is to script it.

Way back to junior school where I would draw characters or people, I would take it seriously. Its just me.

Well I think Good characters will lose out but the best character will win it all. And that's what it's really about. Seeing who has the best character. And if it's true Krustacean was made up in 5 minutes I would hate to see what his creator can do in an hour. I thought krustacean although a joke character was pretty well written.

You're welcome, and thanks, I was surprised at the overwhelming victory I managed to pull out, lol.

To Savage: While that's good and all, let me leave you with a quote that has helped me these past few years: "Dont' take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive."

Good luck on that zombie movie though, thm's one of my favorite genres. grin

My personal advice would be...forget about the zombie movie, and do something original. I've seen it for myself in a history of film school and filmmaking, in the last ten years, everyone who thinks they are edgy is 'writing' a zombie movie. Most never do, as most people can't ever finish a script, but still the market is oversaturated, it is boring. There are a hundred zombie movies/comics/games/toys wherever you look. It's not worth the effort to add to the pile.

I simply didn't vote for the Crab-men for that simple reason that I don't think a crab-man would fit into the MK world and I find the concept of it quite silly. That said, the descriptions were quite creative and nicely done. I just don't like the concept of such a character.

Really?

Now how do you know that I haven't done my research and bought many of the latest zombie movies, high to low budget?

The "zombie" concept isn't new your right. But what is new is the situations you place the character in and the characters themselves.

I like to think I can bring a fast paced, fearful and thrilling story.

I'll be doing a concept photo shoot soon which will go towards my portfolio. That portfolio will be coming with me and my assistants to London to a production company director who is already interested. So I must be doing something right.

Sure any wise guy can come up with a zombie story. But without any meat to the story, it's not worth anything.

Can I ask how watching/researching a bunch of movies that were already made will spur on originality?
PS: I hope there's no hard feelings?

No producer would be interested in something they haven't seen a screenplay for, especially if the screenplay doesn't exist yet. That sounds extremely fishy.

And regardless of how 'good' a zombie movie is, it is still a zombie movie. So it's not going to be high art. Honestly I don't even watch them anymore, as just like Vampire movies, every great possibility has been exhausted and they are simply unoriginal junk.
Once again a huge thanks to all those who voted for Malice :D

The research of looking for what works and what don't. Looking for what can be made better and what to leave alone.

As for old movies... There have been a bunch of new ones that have come out over the past 2 years. Low budget mind. Which is the road I am looking at. What they all lack, is the fear of the situation. How can anyone be calm in a situation the characters are forced into?

These movie also go OTT on the gore to compensate for a badly told story and bad acting. Plus the characters are not strong enough to feel for.

Don't get me started on continuity mistakes.

But it all goes towards my research. Trying to come up with something viewers will enjoy and get sucked into the story rather than sitting comfortably and trying to stay awake.

Platoon of the dead is a movie that was utter crap, but the premise was good.

Horde is a good movie.

"AAHH!! Zombies!" I think it's called, is pretty interesting. It's told through the eyes of the zombies, who don't know they're zombies, but rather think everyone else is infected with some Rage-like virus.
