Trying to come up with a solution for judges/community vote weights. Here are a couple of options for contest 7, and I'd like you all to give me some feedback on them.

Option 1) Downgrade to 3 judges plus the community vote, which would count as 2 votes, keeping the contest as a best of five vote. A character winning the community vote could only lose if all three judges voted against it.

Option 2) Upgrade to 5 judges plus the community, then becoming a best of seven vote. A character that won the community vote could then lose if four out of the five judges voted against the community.

I can see the benefit of both, but I favor option to because of a couple of reasons. It keeps judge votes meaning something, which they always have in this contest. It also is more unlikely that 4 out of 5 people will vote against the community than it is if 3 people do (which is how it works currently, and in option 1). With the stronger community response for this contest, I want people to feel like their vote matters and I think currently many feel that it does not. That being said, I still think it's important to have judges to maintain order and prevent any type of extreme rallying from taking over. While I have faith in this community to not attempt any sort of contest rigging, I have been to other websites where contests have been controlled by a select few that use their friends to vote for who they instruct them to. Judges keep results like that from happening.

Anyhow, let me know what you think or if you have any other options other than these two.

Could you to 2 contests a day? or is that just not possible?

I think best of 3,5 or 7. Only to not have draws.

Also, winning the community vote don't mean the character will win the match. It's a kind of false hope, but there is no other way to go about this apart from cutting out the community vote altogether.

It's fine as it is at the moment. But I'm sure someone has a better idea.

The only problem with adding another judge is adding yet another person into the mix. Voting every day is a commitment and we've already seen a few of the results come up late while we waited for the Council's decision.

You have also been the only visible judge (well, other than one post by Mick-Lucifer) and I'm still on the fence whether this is a good thing or not.

On one hand, having judges that remain silent solidifies this idea of the Judge's vote being more official than the squabbling that can happen with the community vote (it also avoids the the inevitable 'why the hell/did you vote against my character you horrible judge?).

On the other hand, the votes feel cold and meaningless without any judge interaction. It feels like a cat with a roulette wheel could be deciding a portion of a round.

So I kind of like option 1 more. The problem is that it all comes down to how many people enter the contest. 96 means a lot more community votes than 32. Maybe it's best to have a few options and then wait to see what the turn out of V7 is.

i agree option 1 sounds better. what are some things that would change for the next tournament. would they be small changes or big changes. also crow when would people get feedback by you and possiblly the other judges that way i could be better prepared if i decide to enter the next tournament because being slaughtered in the votes does not give me much confidence. i know it's for fun but wish i had a few more votes. o well.sad

I like the second option. I feel the first one gives to little "power" to the judges.

Honestly, I don't see the need for any judges votes, and I mean no offense by that. I think the rounds should simply be decided by popular vote. What makes the judges so special? Are they experts on judging?

There have been several characters that have not been put through even after winning the community vote just because the "judges" didn't put them through, even though if each judges vote was just added to the community vote, they still would have won.

Just my two cents.

I think Adsler could be the most creepiest character in this competition. MK has no creepy character quite like Adsler. I have also said in the vote page that he is a mix between something from Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

Something as creepy as Adsler in the MK universe would be something very interesting indeed.

I sort of tried to explain the reasoning in a previous post. It's mostly done to ensure the contest is ran without it being a popularity contests, when it comes to your favorite user. Like I said I trust all of you to make proper decisions and vote for the characters, but I have been a part of other sites where a very popular user dictates and controls contest, effectively turning it into "who has more friends".

Judges exist to eliminate that basically. But like I said, I do want to place more power in the community's hands, one way or the other.

Thank you! Trust me, Krimson is not ready to finish her battles, but she is resting right now. She was impressed by her competition and hopes to meet her in the roleplay...

You know what... I can see a joke character winning this...

I have to laugh at this competition.

No plausibility or detail or depth in Krustacean what so ever, and you guys vote him? HAHAHA!!!

After all the talk on creators putting lack of detail and lack of explanation into there creation for the reason you WONT vote for certain characters, and then you "two-face" it by voting for the most lacking character in the competition... HAHA!

Yes I am ranting! Why? Because of the two-face of it all...

In future. There is no point putting all that time and effort into any character, just for it to bumped off by a 5 minute think up.

Yes the competition is meant to be fun. But the 180 turn you guys have shown have turned this competition into a right joke.

Too many people here still watch Power Rangers.

I expected this. All I can say Savage is that your decision to campaign and post excessively about Shoulen probably biased some voters.

And it's not like you lost by a landslide, the judges split and only about a couple more people voted for your opponent.
And dude, I haven't watched Power Rangers in like 12 years or so since I was like 10 or something.

... Krustacean to win the whole damn thing.

That is how I see this.

Landslide or not. How in the world can anyone see these type of characters in an MK story line? Bargaining with cheese!!! cheese?!?!!? really?

I shake my head at this competition and the two faced users.

Looking for characters that would fit my ass!

Yes I am ranting... So what.

If I would have gone out to the Black Widow character, then I would have been fine with that. That character has a good feel and sense of MK running through it as do most of the good characters that went out too soon.

Cant wait to see the outcome of this competition... Really!

You mad.
In all honesty, though, I too was surprised Krustacean made it to round three. I was content enough making it past round one.

I generally don't do this until I write my reviews (share my feelings on characters), but since I am well behind I'll go ahead and say this.

It's a shame you lost.

I'm personally not happy about it (yes, going to reveal how I voted just this once), but it's done now. Personally, I think your comments during round one after you won your match hurt you, and that a lot of people probably voted against YOU and not your character. Not fair maybe, but I think that's what happened. If even three people were swayed by your rants, then you caused your own demise. I still think you should have won though, in my own personal opinion, as I vote strictly for the characters and ignore whoever the creator is to the best of my abilities.

Not saying Krustacean is bad here or anything, just stating my opinion on a particular match.
