Before crow sayed it was ok to use the charachters i used for the tournament, i had a second plan of a charachter that was going to use aaaaall of the elements, adding time. The idea was having him as one of that old race that craeted the nexus, who had the ability to manipulate the one being's mind, but in limited way. He created an amulet and absorbed the powers of all those beings, killing them. Then Shinnok stole the amulet and we know the rest of the story. It was cool because unlike shinnok and Quan Chi, he knew how to use the amulet.

... I'm well aware of what aether means. But thank you for filling in more details in my explanation. Metal can be put in with earth because it essentially comes from the Earth, and a culture that favors simplicity would see no need to add metal. However, in the overly complicated cultures, metal becomes a necessity(just like wood, which is more justifiable than metal) for all of their vague associations. Without the extra elements, their lists of meanings would be incomplete. Like the life cycle, in which each element represents a different stage of life(water=old age/death if I remember correctly etc....), or the bodily fluids. I think wood is associated with tears in that case.... But again, it's been a while since I read about all of that. They also associate each element with certain smells, moods, planets, furniture, etc...... The list goes on. Also, for balance's sake in feng shui, where the elements cycle around defeating or enhancing each other. Metal enhances water, while earth weakens it.

Come to think of it, it would be fascinating to have character who was not only based around an element, but also based on that elements cultural associations. Like the Wu Xing's... So if someone was a water elemental(literally the "shui" in feng shui), they'd not only have powers of water but would have elements of their design influenced by the color black, curved lines, the "Black Tortoise", and so on.... Less interesting however, is Earth's apparent affinity with the pancreas.

The turnout for this tournament is amazing, almost a hundred entries and possibly even more to come? Awesome stuff.

Just sent in my final draft. Would've liked to have been able to spend more time on it but I simply can't afford to. Oh well, I'm just happy to participate. Good luck to everyone, can't wait to see the other entries.
