Okay cool. Originally I planned to submit my character on saturday but her alternate took so long, so I will send her in today FOR SURE. And good luck everybody, the contest is looking good!

Are there going to be judges like the old tournament or is each round going to be determined simply by the popular vote?

Every round is going to be judged the same as I've outlined in the opening post. The staff judges and the community will both be voting every match.

I think there should have been a rule on how long the character bio should be. I feel that some that have done short bio's wont have a big a chance as the guys that have done long, in depth bio's.

But the lenght doesn't always make it good, now does it?

I didn't want to make it long winded. But I still wanted to have enough for everyone to follow. Some of us don't have that much time to create something better than we imagine, but the guys that are home with no responsibilities have the advantage. A cap on how long the bio should be would put everyone on the same level.

... I have responsibilities and a long bio... If you want to write a more in depth bio, you make the time to do it, quite simply. I don't think there is anyone who has entered the competition who is occupied twenty four hours a day. If an in depth bio is something that matters to you, then you'd spend some free time writing it. My bio is quite long itself, but only took about half an hour to write down, I planned it in my head in the shower over the last few days. Everyone makes time to bathe, right? Why not kill two birds with one stone.

Hehe, funny you should mention that, most of my time is spent entertaining three of them, including an infant... Thankfully they leave at night. But hey, I still think the shower is a valid solution.

Apparently I'm gonna have to read through all this stuff, so my advice would be to focus on making it good, not long.

I can't promise the good part, but I can promise it's not too long.

I have four kids, 8,5, and 3 year old twins .... you just gotta find time.

As far as long vs short bio's go , its not how much you write but the quality of what you write. A good writer can get his idea's down efficiently. I would have loved to spend 3 pages trying to explaining every detail of my story, but you have to know when to trim the fat.

My daughter just brought a graded work assignment ( for 2nd grade ) that had a paragraph written. Her job was to then explain the whole paragraph in 2 sentences. That is essentially what a good writer should be able to do.

You don't need to write a novel on your character, you just need to get your point across so that people can visualize every aspect of what your trying to create.

Telling people how to live their lives and how to raise their kids...

Ire's Bio is 2 paragraphs long. any more than 3 is pushing it I figure.

I feel bad for the judges who have to read EVERY character, remember the details they like, and try to judge them based on that if all the characters are judged at the same time.

I think they will read one character at a time and judge that character before moving on to the next. That's how I would do it anyways.

Continuity and plausibility is another thing the judges have to look out for.

No point having a character's bio that says he is a big 500lbs character, then give him moves that have him doing gymnastics with speed and ease lol

crow i have a question about the voting. how long will the votes last before the next battle. also can we vote for ourself or is that a no. who will determin who moves on the judges or the users.

if you can tell me anything about votes and whatnot that be a big help since it's my 1st kreat a kharacter tournament iv'e ever been in. i was going to enter the last one but it was to late.

to be honest, i took the "bio" part to mean a biography similar to the ones IN-GAME? anybody who writes excessively more than that, in my opinion, should suffer for it. it takes a lot more skill to get a story across in a small paragraph.

No... I'm afraid it doesn't. But I agree, my story was far too long, so I've cut it in half... But seriously, there is no more skill that goes into writing something short than elaborating with rich detail. It's just a matter of deciding what details aren't as important and don't need to be included.... That's like saying a novel isn't as good as its wikipedia entry...
