@Crow and MKO Community
I would just like to get some detailed critiques for my character Black Widow, since she was bounced out in the first round. I know some of her moveset was a bit excessive but I felt the numerous amounts of specialties moves were to detail the thoroughness of her gameplay and to better set herself apart from the current MK roster.
Please if anyone especially Crow, has the spare time to really critique my character I would be enlightened to hear people's honest critiques because I thought I had an honest chance to win this tournament.

Simply put, I found Krustacean a lot more unique and interesting character than Black Widow.

Well for me, the size of the moveslist automatically disqualified you. The rules of the competition stated we could only have between 3 and 8 special moves (I'm assuming this doesn't include a forward/backward throw), and you had well over that.
Your character wasn't the only character with this rules violation though (and there are other rules I've seen violated as well), and I won't vote for anyone who violates the rules.
Also, the MK canon tells us that Scorpion's entire clan was wiped out, yet your story says there were a few survivors. While I suppose it's possible that Scorpion may not have known about these survivors, it's a bit of a stretch, and it weakens Scorp's story.
And Frost....if this is the Frost from MKDA, it doesn't make any sense because she is part of the Lin Kuei, not the Shirai Ryu. If it is a totally new character, you should have chosen a different name. I know it's just sort of a minor point of the story, but it still jumps out.
Also, sais are Mileena's thing, and the net is Cyrax's. While I'm not against characters using some of the same moves/weapons or having the same effects as other characters' attacks, you shouldn't use attacks/weapons that are signatures of other characters, as in they are what that character is best known for. At least that's how I feel...
@bbfreak328
Ok. That's understandable. I understand that maybe the electric net is a signature Cyrax move, but I thought it would be a good signature move for Black Widow also to simulate being caught in a spiders' web. I also had a variation of this move that I neglected to add before the deadline. But I don't see that as a bad thing though.
As far as the storyline, I thought having a few survivors that escaped from the war between the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu conflict, would seem plausible and an angle that would MK hasn't explored but yet and still would be in line with the MK Storyline that wouldn't thrown the whole story out of whack like other characters have in this competition.
As far as the excess in moves, I think would make for more creative game play. And in comparison to some of the other moves from the competition in the tournament, I think Black Widow's moves are unique and would stand out. I will concede to you though, that she has the same weapons that Mileena does, she would use the weapons in entirely different ways and use them more often than Mileena does in her game play. Based on Mileena game play, I notice that she selectively uses her weapons, while Black Widow, would mostly use her weapons in a majority of her specials as well as in her norman fighting moves and regular fighting style.
Also, I thought that Black Widow's fighting style was consistent to what type of fighter she is in the video game. I've noticed other characters have listed off particular fighting styles and then create a move set that was entirely different and inconsistent with their fighting style. I thought her weapons of sais were mostly utlized in her moves as opposed to having a weapon and not really ultilizing the weapons in the game, or using the weapon that would be inconsistent to the way that it is designed to be used such as having a broadsword and then describing impaling techniques when a broadsword is more of a slashing type of weapon.
This is interesting though...I thank you for your feedback though. It is greatly appreciated. I just wish that I could enter more than one character in the tournament since I had the a variety of great characters I think would have done well if given the opportunity.

I understand you preferred Krustacean more, but why did you select his character over Black Widow?

A very cool character concept, with awesome original moves. We don't really have any mad scientists in MK.

I preferred a Kombatant of a different race over yet another ninja, to be frank.

I'll get to you; check the official topic though and try to keep the discussion in there and the voting in here. I hope everyone eliminated will still take the time to participate; the contest is diminished without your continued participation.

My vote goes for:
Chi Zong - I thought that costume is questionable. And the other character being a crab from Krutascia and being a crab wouldn't fit in the MK universe that well.
Revernant - I thought Snow was a Kinko copy of Sub-Zero with uninspiring move sets and unimaginative backstory and look.
Neuros - I thought was a more creative character and had a plausible backstory that would be consistent with MK's storyline. I think that Psyria was a very good character with the vines. It was a close call and very difficult but I give the slight edge to Neuros.

EDIT: Dammit, took too long to type and now I'm late. Oh well, my vote wouldn't have changed anything anyway, and my critiques still stand.
I deeply apologize for not being around much for the votes. I simply have not had time to spare.. Anyway:
Bracket 1: Kortika
Kortika provides a very new yet not unfitting new race to MK. A crab-based race brings water abilities to mind, not earth, and although it is a clever twist and it deepens the race's characteristics, it can use some explanation as to why they control earth and not water. Also, the ability to shapeshift his pincers seems a little much; really, turning his body to stone is unique and effective enough to stand by itself. His fighting style and specials are unique; his ending, however, is not. I feel there are enough characters by now who win the tournament and then decide to overthrow everything and take over a world. Stone Trap doesn't have its correct description; proofreading is your friend. His Fatalities seem a little strange; the first one looks kind of goofy in my head, like he's doing a bellyflop on the opponent, and the second one seems visually awkward because the head-smash animation would grab the audience's attention more than the pinching -- so it would look like the head smash itself explodes the opponent's whole upper body.
As for Chi Zong: even though his history is interesting, the fact that he is now "just another minion for somebody important" with no real ambitions of his own makes him seem kind of bland. Even though half the villains in the MK roster are mere minions, they all have some kind of motivating drive (except for the ones who never got a story to begin with, anyway). He does end up with some motivation in his ending, but it comes out of nowhere. "Feel the power of the purple moon!" is not very intimidating, and the werewolf howl seems very out of place. Though I dislike him stealing Noob's Black Hole move, his Fatality involving it is refreshingly simple, effective, and brutal. I loved the Body Big Bang Fatality.

Bracket 2: Revenant
... I guess.
There's not much I can say here. Snow should be redone from square one, first of all making him NOT Sub-Zero with sorta different moves. Revenant is a teenager with a medical background.... Also, sticking people with needles isn't very brutal -- compared to someone like, say, Baraka, who will jam a three-foot sword through your head and then do it again, and then he REALLY gets going. Revenant gets my vote for originality, since he wouldn't be MK's fifth concept based on ice powers.
* * * * * * * * * *
Bracket 3: Neuros
Neuros is one of very few characters in this contest who manages to have strong ties with canon characters without breaking canon, and plausibly explaining why he hasn't been seen before even though he's tied to important events -- the generations-wide case of mistaken identity between the two Kung Laos is a nice touch. His "shifting" moves remind me of the Necromongers from The Chronicles of Riddick, which is an awesome looking power that hasn't really been explored in MK (though the recent unveiling of Kenshi comes close). This is a character full of brutality, story relevance, history, and personality -- a Chaosrealm denizen who is differentiated from, and actually more interesting than, Havik. The only complaint I have is that the Kusarigama Trip move is hard to visualize.
The first thing that came to mind when reading Psyria's info was: If you weigh her on a scale, will it tell you her age? 10,000 pounds and 10,000 years is a lot of 10,000s flying around. Her backstory would be much more appealing without the constant statements about how she's more powerful than everyone else. I like her specials, especially the Aerial Slam, though the Fog Parry seems out of place when everything else about her is plant-themed. Why is this ancient nature goddess wearing high heels...? Also, it's hard to imagine a sword made of roots and leaves actually functioning like a sword. The X-Ray move, though strangely named, is precisely the kind of thing I'd want to see from a vine-wielder, and breaking every bone in the body is a cherry on top of the icing on the cake. The Fatalities don't quite seem as fitting, though, and it would be hard to visually convey pumping "explosive poison" through the vines into the body. In the ending, making Psyria look 10.000 times better at her job than Raiden doesn't really grab me.

Will everybody please, please stop killing Shao Kahn and taking over Outworld? Two in one match? For serious? Shao Kahn is a large man, but there is still not enough room on that throne for all of you.
