Oh well, K. Kahn had a nice little run that's come to an end.

The same is about to happen to Shinnok in the next round, though he was easily the biggest surprise in this year's competition.

I really like Kotal Kahn but hes only been around for one game and its the 25th anniversary so Ive gotta go Kitana. Hopefully both will play a big part in MK11.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 3:
Erron Black versus Shinnok
#17 Supreme Ranking #21
5 wins 2 losses Record 8 wins 5 losses
Round 3 (2015) Best Result Round 3 (2014)

Erron Black is a mercenary gun for hire with nothing but time on his side. It's said his aging was dramatically slowed in exchange for a job he did for Shang Tsung. Carrying an arsenal of exotic weaponry collected over a life of 150 years, he's a highly skilled killer able to spend a lifetime stalking his targets! In MKX, he serves as part of the ragtag cabinet of outsiders assembled by Kotal Kahn. He may be a warrior of Earthrealm, but he's shown no inclinations toward leaving his post in Outworld.

Shinnok is a fallen Elder God who was banished to the Netherrealm for crimes against the Heavens. In MK4, he escaped his exile through the realm of Edenia to wage war on the ethereal plane! His conquests were thwarted by Raiden and the heroes of Earthrealm, forcing him back to the firey depths of Hell where he'd reigned. He clung to power through to Armageddon, briefly forging an alliance with Raiden and Shao Kahn. When the timeline was rebooted, Shinnok manipulated events anew, preparing for a conquest of the invaded Earthrealm! In this reality he succeeded for time before being driven out by Johnny Cage and the heroes of Earth. In MKX, he returned twenty-five years later to lead an army of revenant heroes against a new generation! Shinnok corrupted Earth's Jinsei spirit, but was again defeated by the Cage bloodline.

Though mortal and god, they have operated in the background for all of Mortal Kombat's twenty-five years! They have travelled the realms, making home in worlds that aren't their own. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Shinnok! I've always enjoyed him as a character. Even in MK4.

Shinnok

A much more interesting character with more relevance to the series.

Erron Black is one of my new all time favorites. Choosing him, though I do like Shinnok and always have.

Erron Black is really good and I hope he sticks around but I have to go Shinnok though.
MK has lots of great bad guys but Shinnok is THE evil of the 25 years of Mortal Kombat.

Why is Shinnok suddenly so popular this year after getting the finger in every past edition of the tournament??

Its like a delayed reaction to MKX. I dont know what the end of MKX means but I guess we might not see him for a while so this is like a good sendoff? What ever the reason is I like it! grin

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - QUARTER FINAL:
Noob Saibot versus Raiden
#2 Supreme Ranking #4
22 wins 4 losses Record 20 wins 5 losses
Champion (2016) Best Result Runner-Up (2013)

Noob Saibot emerged from the shadows as a secret fighter in MKII. By MK Deception we would learn his true identity was that of the Sub-Zero who was killed by Scorpion in the first Mortal Kombat! Reborn in the Netherrealm as a blackened wraith, he served the Brothers of the Shadow from the periphery in MK Trilogy and MK4. In the reboot timeline his presence increased as the influence of Quan Chi and Shinnok was escalated in the retold plot of the first trilogy. Thrown into a soulnado by Nightwolf, he was nowhere to be seen in MKX -- the fate of tainted soul still unknown!

Raiden took mortal form to participate in the tournament of the first Mortal Kombat. He remained with Earth's champions in MKII, entering the Outworld while plans were drawn for a fullscale invasion! The thundergod oversaw Shao Kahn's defeat in MKTrilogy, only to find the Heavens decimated by the rise of Shinnok in MK4! Raiden once again vanquished the fallen Elder God Shinnok, ascending to Elder Godhood himself. In Deadly Alliance the thunderer relinquished his status to take a proactive role in thwarting Outworld's newest threats. Instead, he joined them when the immortal Dragon King returned in MK Deception. His soul now tainted, Raiden's methods became dark and aggressive. To avert the threats of Armageddon, he sent his younger self visions of what was to come! The new timeline took a toll on Earthrealm's heroes, but Raiden again thwarted Outworld's invasion and drove Shinnok out of Earthrealm. Stepping in to the corrupted essence of Earthrealm, he risked his soul to purify the Jinsei -- the fate of his tainted soul to be revealed!

In MK Mythologies the former Sub-Zero was guided by Raiden's light. In the Quarter Final of the MK Origins bracket they now must fight! Who reigns supreme after 25 years of Mortal Kombat? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Because Mortal Kombat X made him popular. The game did wonders for many characters by giving them distinct personalities and interesting dialogs. I never gave two fucks about Shinnok. To me, he has always been one of the biggest throwaway characters of the series...lumped right in with Kai, Dairou, Hsu Hao, Mavado, Blaze, Mokrap, and Darrius - utter garbage characters that had no place in MK whatsoever, or of zero value to the overall mythos.

That changed when Shinnok was reintroduced. He went from being a bullshit, Dime Store knock off of Shang Tsung to a fully developed, arrogant, evil character that was highly believable as a boss, and one of my favorite characters to play as in MKX.

The same thing happened with Johhny Cage for many people. He was always the butt of the MK franchise...the running joke character (of which Sub-Zero has no inexplicably become). His dialog and story contirbutions to MKX made him one of the funniest, most well-liked and endering characters in the series history. I've always liked Johnny Cage since MK1, but MKX made him my absolute all-around favorite.

Things change as the game evolves.

Raiden. For all his fuckups, at least he has relevancy in the new storyline. Noob is just...there.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - QUARTER FINAL:
Shao Kahn versus Sub-Zero
#15 Supreme Ranking #1
10 wins 4 losses Record 24 wins 4 losses
Quarters (2017) Best Result Champion (2012)

Shao Kahn loomed large as the preeminent threat of MKII! The Outworld Emperor would lure Earth's mightiest into his domain, before invading theirs in MK3! He was defeated, leaving him vulnerable to the combined powers of the Deadly Alliance. He survived the assassination attempt to return in Deception and Armageddon. By forging an unlikely alliance with other powers, Shao Kahn was able to rise to the peak of the Pyramid of Argus to claim supreme power! His victory forced Raiden to rewrite time. In the rebooted reality, Kahn was able to decimate Earthrealm's warriors and invade once again. This time the Elder Gods intervened - obliterating him for breaking the sacred rules!

Sub-Zero seized his destiny as the new face of the Lin Kuei in MKII! Accepting his brother's mantle, he survived an attack from the ninja spectre Scorpion. In MK3 it was his own clan who hunted him as he fled the LK cyber initiative! He was still a target in MK4, forced to contend with Scorpion once more thanks to the manipulations of Quan Chi! He ascended to Grandmaster status of a new Lin Kuei in Deadly Alliance, and learned more about the ancient lineage of cryomancers in MK Deception. His dead brother became his enemy in Armageddon, leading an army of cyber-oni against the new Lin Kuei! When the timeline was rebooted, Kuai Liang once again accepted his place as Sub-Zero after Bi-Han's death. This time he was converted into a cyborg assassin by the Lin Kuei, only to break his programming and perish during the invasion of Earth! In the Netherrealm he became a revenant under Quan Chi's power! Remade in flesh, he attacked the Earth until the magic of Raiden restored him to life. In MKX he is the Grandmaster of a new Lin Kuei once more! A strange twist of fate has now thrust him into a world of super heroes and villains - a guest fighter in Injustice 2!

For 25 years they've been two of Mortal Kombat's greatest icons! They both debuted in MKII and have endured for a quarter century! Who will endure in the Quarter Final of the MK Invasion bracket? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

More often than not, it seems like whatever character the people who actually bother to post on here support, they end up losing.

I vote for Noob the Boob. Not a fan really, but well, he isn't Rayden, who is just awful imo.

This time I vote for Sub Zero.

Just a generally better all round characters for me.

I actually wish they would bring Shao Kahn in as a regular character for a few games, so that we could see some deeper character rather than just him being the big bad.

Easy for me. Sub-Zero. I think it's time for new villains. And Sub-Zero is surely capable of winning.

You're right, but better in the later future. No misunderstood me, I think Shao and Shang Tsung are very good villains, but I think we need a rest of the former Kahn and Shang Tsung could be back but no neccesarily as a villain, like force helping the good guys.

Looks like Sub-Zero might take it this year. His second win? Well, I'd rather have a predictable (and relevant) character win, than a joke character like Fujin.

Voted for Shao Kahn.

Got here just in time. Yep Shao Kahn is awesome but he always loses in the end. Time to take a break from him. Sub-Zero has consistently been awesome for 25 years. He is worthy!
