TOURNAMENT BATTLE - QUARTER FINAL:
Ermac versus Kenshi
#3 Supreme Ranking #7
21 wins 4 losses Record 16 wins 5 losses
Champion (2014) Best Result Runner-Up (2015)
Ermac went from hoax to reality as part of the upgrade roster in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3! A mysterious warrior forged from the lost souls of defeated warriors, he was harnessed by the sorcery of Outworld's Emperor! In MK Deception, he returned freed from bondage by the blind swordsman Kenshi. Fully realized as his own entity, Ermac made a heroic entry into the series, pivotal in rescuing the heroes of Earthrealm from slavery! When the timeline was rebooted to avert Armageddon, Ermac was once again an enforcer under the spell of Shao Kahn. He dominated the warriors of Earth until The Emperor's destruction. In MKX, the legion of lost souls drifts into the service of a new Outworld Emperor - Kotal Kahn. Devoid of independent ambition, he awaits a future untold.
Kenshi became an instant klassic as one of the new fighters of Deadly Alliance! A Special Forces agent learning the virtue of selfless heroism, he walks a path of redemption for past arrogance. Once a wandering swordsman, he lived a shallow existence until Shang Tsung tricked him into breaching the tomb of his ancient ancestors. Kenshi was blinded, but thanks to the soul creature Ermac, learned to see without sight! In MK Deception, Kenshi battled the forces of the Red Dragon clan, whilst drawn into a conflict with those loyal to The Dragon King! When the timeline was rebooted, Kenshi found a new friend in Japanese ninja Scorpion. When the Red Dragon killed his son's mother, the blind sword saint found refuge with the Shirai Ryu. As a Special Forces soldier in MKX, Kenshi aids in the fight against the invading forces of the Netherealm. He awaits a future at the side of his son Takeda.
In a reality of Deadly Alliance and Deception they made each other better warriors! In the Quarter Final of the MK Armageddon bracket they now meet as opponents! Who reigns supreme after 25 years of kombat? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Both characters were pretty poor in MKX, for me. both sort of just there in the background and forgotten about really.
In terms of what they brought to the series, I think they are about equal.
So I guess I gotta go with who I preferred in the original timeline and that's Ermac.
Kenshi, on the other hand, has been solid gameplay wise every time he's made an appearance.
Kenshi gets my vote.
P.S.:Happy that Shao Kahn was eliminated after he took out Sheeva of the tournament.
Ermac was God awful in MKX. Completely destroyed the character with that ugly look and the whole floating thing. He went from being a badass ninja once upon a time to a forced mummy/horror character. Just didn't work for me, and I hope they don't stick with this going forward.

I agree regarding Ermac's look in MKX. The whole shriveled mummy thing was not at all appealing for him. The ninja-sorcerer look of MK9 was by far his best look ever, and while they partially maintained it in MKX, it really was marred by the decrepit mummy motif they were going for. As for the floating, it sort of goes with his whole power set, but I found him such an odd character to play as in MKX. He was probably my least played overall.
In addition to being my favorite character, Kenshi is a representative for an entire era of Mortal Kombat that is too often overlooked and unappreciated. Hope to see him win this year.
Can we please omit characters like Sub-zero, Scorpion, Ermac, Noob, Raiden, basically all the fighters that end up winning anyway. There are so many more interesting outcomes that could happen without those iconic characters. Let's shake it up a bit! Their inclusion makes these tournaments, IMO, very boring and predictable.
Just my thoughts, thank you for your time!

I also think MKX was a bad game for Ermac but I think he was best in Deception. In my opinion you should never be able to see his skin. It should be like you just dont know anything about him under there as if the clothes hold him together or are actually part of him.
Kenshi is really solid and has been every game. He has the sword and the moves and the backstory and then hes always doing something. He is a really great addition to the classic characters so I am happy to vote for him.
Request for the next Supreme Tourney.

What is the point of that though? Do any MK fans actually follow any kind of actual tournaments or competitive sports? Disqualifying someone because they can win is the dumbest most ass backwards idea on the planet! Especially because, boo hoo, they are popular and successful.
Anyone who follows any kind of competitive sports or anything knows that theres more to look at than the championship. If you dont like the winners then you should be paying attention to whats happening below them. Thats where a lot of the action is and this year there has been Sheeva and Shinnok and Reiko and Havik going further than normal. Go back and look at who got eliminated in the first round, there were a lot of shocks right from the start! Nobody who ever called it predictable ever atually predicted ANYTHING!
SwingBatta you are so right. Scorpion lost in round 1 last year and round 2 this year lol.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - QUARTER FINAL:
Kitana versus Shinnok
#8 Supreme Ranking #21
17 wins 5 losses Record 10 wins 5 losses
Quarters (2013) Best Result Quarters (2017)
Kitana gave a new face to the women of kombat in MKII! The masked fan fighter was an Outworld assassin, but quickly became a fan-favourite working against her adopted step-father to save her realm, and ours! She fought against the invasion in UMK3, living to see the liberation of her once merged realm of Edenia! She returned in MK Gold to help stop fallen Elder God Shinnok, whose rise threatened her restored kingdom! In Deadly Alliance she rejoined Earth's champions to avenge the murdered Liu Kang. In Deception, it was Edenia that was once again threatened by an Outworld Emperor. Armageddon came to her world, whose freedom was undone by the reboot of the timeline! In this reality, Kitana gave her life fighting the Invasion of Earthrealm, only to be remade as a revenant under Quan Chi's power. In MKX, she remains in the Netherrealm, reunited with Liu Kang as the old powers are defeated.
Shinnok once stood with the Elder Gods, but his indiscretions saw him cast into the fires of the Netherrealm! He escaped the inferno in MK4, exploiting an Edenian noble to return to the mortal plane. His armies slaughtered the Heavens, but the intervention of Raiden and the heroes of Earthrealm undid his sinister plans. He returned to his throne in Hell, awaiting the opportunity to rise once again in an alliance of powers during Armageddon! The reboot of the timeline undid all that had happened, and Shinnok capitalized more than any one. With Edenia still a part of Outworld, he took advantage of the depleted forces of Earthrealm to enter Raiden's domain and conquer it! In MKX, he was defeated by Johnny Cage, but returned twenty-five years later to corrupt the very realm's spirit! Despite his ultimate defeat by a new generation of komabtants, Shinnok succeeded in tainting the Earth's Jinsei. A legacy that lives on in the corrupted soul of Raiden!
In the old timeline Shinnok marched through her realm, in the new timeline Kitana works for him! In the Quarter Final of the MK Reborn bracket they finally do kombat! Who reigns supreme after 25 years of this epic saga? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Ive said it before and I'll say it again - my favourite character in the series.
Of the two, for me she has the better overall, all round character development, and I have always enjoyed her gameplay a lot more.
I also think she has brought more to the series in general than Shinnok has.
Well, after a host of very nice surprises, we've reverted to the same ol' shit: three of the final four are ninjas. Sigh.
Hopefully I'll be back at the actual start of this thing next year. Peace.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - SEMI FINAL:
Noob Saibot versus Sub-Zero
#2 Supreme Ranking #1
23 wins 4 losses Record 25 wins 4 losses
Champion (2016) Best Result Champion (2012)
Noob Saibot was a secret fighter first discovered in MKII, but time would retroactively reveal him to be the deceased Sub-Zero of the original MK! Reborn a wraith in the Netherrealm, he would lurk in the shadows of MK Trilogy and MK4 as an agent of the Brothers of the Shadow. In MK Deception, the truth of his identity was finally revealed as he teamed with Smoke as a tag team sub-boss making a play for personal power. The pair would create a clan of cyber-oni in Armageddon, using them to battle his younger brother Kuai Liang and his new Lin Kuei clan. When the timeline was rebooted, his destiny to die by the hands of Scorpion repeated. This time his corrupt corporeal form was thrown into the purity of a soulnado, sending him to an uncertain future still to be resolved.
Sub-Zero is the warrior called Kuai Liang, who became a stalwart of the series after inheriting his dead brother's mantle in MKII! The reveal of his identity was one of MK's most memorable moments! He fled his past in MK3 when the Lin Kuei began their forced Cyber Initiative. In MK4, his brother's killer came for him in a grand plot manipulated by the sorcerer Quan Chi! Freed by the truth and the collapse of his old clan, Sub-Zero became the new Lin Kuei Grandmaster in Deadly Alliance. He continued to take control of his destiny in Deception, learning more about an ancient lineage of cryomancers who left a powerful suit of armor to be claimed. In Armageddon, his brother Bi-Han returned as Noob Saibot at the side of his robotic friend Smoke, leading a clan of cyber-oni against the new Lin Kuei. Their feud would be unresolved when the timeline rebooted, creating a reality where Sub-Zero became a cyber-assassin instead of Smoke! They would both join the ranks of the Netherrealm when they died fighting the Outworld Invasion. In MKX, they were part of the revenant army attacking the Earth - until the remade Sub-Zero was restored to life. Twenty-five years later, Sub-Zero is the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei once again! Most recently he has crossed over into the world of Injustice 2 as a guest fighter representing Mortal Kombat in a world of superheroes!
For twenty-five years they have shared one of Mortal Kombat's most well known legacies! They are iconic warriors who've lived and died in the saga of MK. It's the Semi Finals and the 25th Anniversary of Mortal Kombat! Who reigns supreme? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
For this match - Sub Zero.
Not a huge fan of Noob, in all honesty. He seems to be just another evil guy out to try and become the big-bad. Sure the original Sub Zero thing is a nice twist, but not enough for me. his gameplay has never been my favourite either.
Sub Zero has always been solid. Great story, great costumes, great gameplay (he wasn't particularly my style in MKX tho). Just all round great for me. I also love how he plays in Injustice 2.
Bi Han may have been the original, but for me, the Kuai Liang Sub Zero has also brought the most to the series overall between the two brothers.
